America Really Needs One Of These

Tyler Durden's picture

Perhaps, in the interests of keeping its population satisfied that government is busy and working hard for the nation's good, India has unveiled a real-time dashboard to monitor how many government workers are in attendance at any moment...

click image for fully real-time-updating version...

One question - if India can do this, why can't America?

In the government, attendance has no correlation to useful work.

Hopefully those numbers will dive to zero.  Go Ebola!

India can do it because of all the outsourcing from the US has gone there.  Any analytics done on a large scale are sent there, especially in the medical field.

Who needs H1B-visa workers here, when there's the interwebs?

They're really good at making things look nice. but so far, everything that has come across my desk from India (software/code) has been one steaming pile of shit.. a nice looking, steaming pile of shit, but "shit" none-the-less.

I don't need a dashboard.  I know mrs. horseman is being productive, because when I came home she showed me this from our garden...

Oh Henry!

Ah, a real-time government productivity monitor.  Wonderful.  If it says that many people are working diligently at their desks on your computer screen, it simply must be true and accurate data.

Sort of like the super-accurate count of the number of people who have signed up for Obamacare and paid their policy premium.

MEANINGLESS. HORSE. SHIT.  Excuse me, I mispoke.  What I meant to say was...

INACCURATE. MEANINGLESS. HORSE. SHIT.

There is only one way that this data could be reliable.

The employees have given up biometric information to identify themselves. That, or implanted chips.

Your comparison lacks any reference in reality. I don't think you have accepted the implications yet.

Obolacare fudging is like Diebold voting machine fudging  or public opinion poll fudging. The 'verified' counts can't be made due to a lack of biometric identifiers.

It is pretty easy to guess what those SEC perverts would do with a tuber that size.  Here is what I did with it...

Grass-fed home-grown steak au poivre, apologies to the Indian readers, with sweet potatoes and mustard greens from the garden.

Why do you think all the healthcare programs are all fucked up?  No two programs talk to each other, insurance info is dropped, can't update across systems, but, hey!  Paperless is the way to go!

Maybe you better.

They had exactly two weeks of "training" by people who knew they were about to be laid off, in an industry they know zero about, in a language & jargon they can barely understand let alone use.

And I don't train people to do other peoples jobs for them, no matter how pleasant they are, I'm a professional who is damned good at what I do and could do theirs (which the industry depends on) in my sleep along with my own job (we did it before) so they are completely...expendable.

I wouldn't want to be an investor in that out-sourcing company.

Sink or swim, Zero Din ;-)

I think your anger is misplaced.  SS is underfunded by design, but the idea is that we all pay in and collect in our old age like insurance.  I think your real beef is with people who are paid directly by our tax dollars and who suck from the trough and do jobs that we don't need done, like Ratheon and Xe.

I was an independent contractor for twenty years (not with them, many others) before they offered me a position, I didn't apply for it, they offered me. In fact, I went in making almost as much as my then supervisor (after negotiation) because he's such a corporate douche I suppose.

Mine was always show me the money, I don't care about titles. Titles seem to mean something to others, never have to me.

As far as the surveillance, they really don't have a clue what they hope to accomplish with it, it doesn't bother me, I've always came & gone as I pleased and every once in a while my independent streak resurfaces and I leave the tracking device in a safe place.

I really can't help myself sometimes either...lol.

The US govt certainly could do it.

Problem is it would likely cost billions of dollars to implement.  Why do something right when you can do it wrong for 50x the cost?

It would take upwards of a decade to deploy then be fraught with problems.

There would of course be hefty crony contracts for friends and family of key govt personnel in charge and Congress to provide "technology and support" for the website.
