German Journalist Blows Whistle On How The CIA Controls The Media

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Michael Krieger via Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

“I was bribed by billionaires, I was bribed by the Americans to report…not exactly the truth.”

- Udo Ulfkotte, a former editor of one of Germany’s main daily publications, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung

Some readers will see this and immediately dismiss it as Russian propaganda since the interview appeared on RT. This would be a serious mistake.

Whether you want to admit it or not, CIA control of the media in the U.S. and abroad is not conspiracy theory, it is conspiracy fact.

Carl Bernstein, who is best known for his reporting on Watergate, penned a 25,000 word article in Rolling Stone after spending six months looking at the relationship of the CIA and the press during the Cold War years. Below is an excerpt, but you can read the entire thing here.

In 1953, Joseph Alsop, then one of America’s leading syndicated columnists, went to the Philippines to cover an election. He did not go because he was asked to do so by his syndicate. He did not go because he was asked to do so by the newspapers that printed his column. He went at the request of the CIA.

Alsop is one of more than 400 American journalists who in the past twenty?five years have secretly carried out assignments for the Central Intelligence Agency, according to documents on file at CIA headquarters. Some of these journalists’ relationships with the Agency were tacit; some were explicit. There was cooperation, accommodation and overlap. Journalists provided a full range of clandestine services—from simple intelligence gathering to serving as go?betweens with spies in Communist countries.

Reporters shared their notebooks with the CIA. Editors shared their staffs. Some of the journalists were Pulitzer Prize winners, distinguished reporters who considered themselves ambassadors without?portfolio for their country. Most were less exalted: foreign correspondents who found that their association with the Agency helped their work; stringers and freelancers who were as interested in the derring?do of the spy business as in filing articles; and, the smallest category, full?time CIA employees masquerading as journalists abroad.

In many instances, CIA documents show, journalists were engaged to perform tasks for the CIA with the consent of the managements of America’s leading news organizations.

Like any good intelligence agency, the CIA learned from its mistakes upon being exposed, and has since adjusted tactics. This is where the concept of “non-official cover” comes into play. The term was recently described by German journalist Udo Ulfkotte, in a blistering RT interview. Mr. Ulfkotte was previously a respected journalist for one of Germany’s main dailies, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), so he is no small fry.

“Non-official cover” occurs when a journalist is essentially working for the CIA, but it’s not in an official capacity. This allows both parties to reap the rewards of the partnership, while at the same time giving both sides plausible deniability. The CIA will find young journalists and mentor them. Suddenly doors will open up, rewards will be given, and before you know it, you owe your entire career to them. That’s essentially how it works. But don’t take it from me…

If this peaked your curiosity, read about Operation Mockingbird.

We all know that this is a major driver of cooperation with the Government and it's news control efforts. " Suddenly doors will open up, rewards will be given, and before you know it, you owe your entire career to them."

If you want a career, if you want the love and support of the great powers that rule America, you need only "play ball" with them. How simple can it be. Also, this story has been all over Germany for weeks now, and believe it or not, it is making an impact as some Germans ask if their news should be screened and written by American intelligence agencies.

As for RT, who gives a shit if it's on RT! Listen, they have no reason to kiss America's ass, we publish any dirty little secret we can dig up on the Russian Federation, if it is true, and it is, then thank RT for reporting it. I see little propaganda and little white lies creep into RT, I know enough to realize they have a slant, but they really do report some amazingly true reports. See their Documentary on "Fish" products in the market place. "Fillet 'O Fish!"  No western media would dare expose what is going on our plates! Little things like this expose that large corporate enterprise is not always better than small business and small producers. Profits are the game, and what goes on your plate is secondary.

Here is a plausible portfolio strategy: Get America related news from RT and Russia related news from CNN. At least you would have hedged the tails.

Most people hear the word 'propaganda' and think USSR.  I hear it and think NYT.

I just read The Brothers by Stephen Kinzer on the Dulles brothers. The US Deep State that was established from WW2 on will continue until the American people end it, if ever.

"If this peaked your curiosity, read about Operation Mockingbird."

It should read "...piqued your curiosity,..."

This is an error seen more and more often, though usually the erroneous spelling is "peeked."

If you listen over the half British half German accent syntax all the way to the end, this guy says he has already had three heart attacks and no children.  Making a statement like that is an odd way to end an interview.  The editing is strange to say the least.

It's not like we didn't know the truth anyway.  Now all of a sudden this guy will fall on his own sword?  My bullshit-O-meter just broke another needle.

He's saying he's ready to die, dude. I totally get that.

It's a place we all have to go to eventually, if we're ever going to organize together and stand up to the Empire.  Not just on anonymous bulletin boards but in our own lives and relationships.  The Empire has some scary dudes working for it. They totally don't like where things are going these days, especially all the folks poking holes in their disguises. If you get too far out front you get painted.

Some of us aren't in a place to go there yet.  For example, we may have children or aging parents who need us, or some other unfinished business.  We should be grateful to him for having the courage, the freedom and the calling, to speak truth to power and damn the consequences.

mendolover's picture

What a coincidence.  I just happen to have ABC's newest suit David Muir on in the background.  I never look at it directly.  Maybe the latest installment of the newest generation of slicked up spook repeaters?

And this is the douche he replaced -

Forked Tongue Fella's picture

This is another instance which clarifies the cognitive dissonance that so many experience yet do not further enquire as to why.  This really should be blown up alongside ALL of the other whistle blowers and people will see that most of the 'conspiracies' are actual truth.  However just as the moment of realisation arrive the grand headline arrives......

.....back to normalcy with u peasantz !!!

I have spent many years working as a political cartoonist and can vouch that our affiliations and views are dictated by the Editor, the same goes for reporters. In this case the Editor is dictated to by the General Manager, whom is dictated to by the board and so on up the chain, to in my case Rupert Murdoch. I.e. The 1% who answer to the CIA or run the CIA whatever the case may be – us mortals may never know the truth.

It was frustrating to say the least trying to get some truth out there, and at times I wanted to give my  SUCK UP TO THE BOSS co-workers a pat on the head – with their f***ing keyboard!

OK, I’ve had my vent for the day:)

I remember reading somewhere that the CIA pushed womens lib, and were instrumental in setting up Ms. Magazine at the behest of Rockefeller.  I think the jist of the tale was that 'empowering' women would make them more avid consumers.

benb's picture

The account came from Aaron Russo who was befriended by Nick Rockefeller. Rockefeller bragged that through the CIA the Rockefellers funded Gloria Steinem, Ms. Magazine, and the Woman's lib bullshit in the 60's. The object was to destroy the family, tax two household incomes, and get the kids away from the parents into the government training camps known as the public school system. This is all laid out in an Aaron Russo interview. - Reflections and Warnings -

Dre4dwolf's picture

The entire idea about "empowering women" has to do with doubling the labor force, so that everyone ends up working for half the wages, and the kids are left at home alone more vulnerable to Government Brainwashing.

I would feel safe saying 65% ~ 80% of women dont want to work, there is nothing wrong with women working, but to sit there and put in place the idea that women should not be stay home mothers. . . is insane.

Step 1 Get women to feel inferior

Step 2 Blame that inferiority on women not having jobs

Step 3 Make not hiring women "sexist"

Step 4 Make it hard for men to hit on women at the work place without fear of a sexual harassment lawsuit.

Step 5 Sit back and watch as women opt to work and take jobs from men and NOT have kids or abandoning the kids they do have with third parties who do not care about them.

Step 6 You just doubled your work force, cut your labor costs, and have a ripe brainwashed replacement for your labor down the line in a few years.

Well that was the plan anyway . . . Its really quite genius social engineering.

Too bad the economy collapsed and foiled their plan, now all you have is a bunch of doped up pot heads who hate their parents and government lol.

It was also about hollowing out the family, among other vital cultural institutions.

The victory is almost complete.

Parenthood will be a quaint memory of an archaic burden in the lifetime of your not-so-young children. Progeny will belong to the State, and the chattelling of the people will be consummated.

The CIA are awesome, look at the shit they have managed to get away with over the years, cover ups, simply brilliant, if necessary with the appropriate application of a small amount of lead.

Down vote me by all means, but you have to admire what they get away with considering they have fingers in every pie in the world.

Rendering the young folks who dare to experiment with drugs useless, with that monkey on their back. Our war our drugs is as edentulous as the junkies they create.

“The outlawing and criminalizing of drugs and consequent surge in prices has produced a bonanza for producers everywhere, from Kabul to Bogota, but, at the Mexican border, where an estimated $39,000m in narcotics enter the rich US market every year, a veritable tsunami of cash has been created. The narcotraficantes, or drug dealers, can buy the murder of many, and the loyalty of nearly everyone. They can acquire whatever weapons they need from the free market in firearms north of the border and bring them into Mexico with appropriate payment to any official who holds his hand out.” (“The US-Mexico border: where the drugs war has soaked the ground blood red”, Hugh O’Shaughnessy The Independent)

If the news seems me be more skewed lately it may be the government is more involved it writing it. For decades a so-called anti-propaganda law prevented the U.S. government's mammoth broadcasting arm from delivering programming to American audiences.

On July 2, 2013 that taboo came silently to an end with the implementation of a new law passed in January. This unleashes thousands of hours per week of government-funded radio and TV programs for domestic U.S. consumption. This "reform" was criticized by many human rights activist as a green light for U.S. domestic propaganda efforts.  More on the implications of this new law in the article below.

Russia Today is an arm of the Russian government and is constitutionally incapable of meaningfully criticizing either Vladimir Putin or his policies.

There is no shortage of articles critical of Obama and his policies in the American media, but with RT and other Russian state-controlled sources, all we hear is wonderful things about Vlad and terrible things about America.

Please, folks, feel free to forward me some examples of RT taking a stand against Vlad.  I ask for this every week, but all I get is hand wringing.  Why?  There are no such articles....

The CIA is missing a few necessary ingredients such as the speed of data transfer among humans and the rate of psychological change. They cannot be effective at this time and the damage they do makes them a threat to everyone.

Saw the interview before, pretty good. I wonder if they even have to bribe American reporters. Maybe they just give them lucrative jobs, or maybe just threaten them. Or perhaps, they don't have to do any of that because they are already brainwashed and groomed to play the lying game.

Andrea Mitchell -- Alan Greenspan wife

Chuck Todd -- wife was operative for John Edwards campaign, all media knew about the sex scandal, covered it up

Matt Lauer -- $25 million/year; 2nd semester college drop out, but did internship for Jimmy Carter

Brian Wilson -- NBC anchor, $13 million/year; 2nd semester college drop out, but did internship for Jimmy Carter

Stephanoupolis -- former Bill Clinton point man against bimbo scandals, after affairs were terminated. Started as poly.

Chris Matthews -- former Congressional cop, but did internship and worked for Jimmy Carter

David Gregory  -- lawyer wife worked @ FNMA when the books were cooked, kids go to school with Obama's kids.

There is no separation between these people. If one of them gets Ebola they all get it. And that would just be a dirty rotten shame since they all feel like family coming into our homes every night. Sigh.

This isn't new, Google the Church Committee 1975.

On August 17, 1975 Senator Frank Church stated on NBC's Meet the Press without mentioning the name of the NSA about this agency:

“ In the need to develop a capacity to know what potential enemies are doing, the United States government has perfected a technological capability that enables us to monitor the messages that go through the air. Now, that is necessary and important to the United States as we look abroad at enemies or potential enemies. We must know, at the same time, that capability at any time could be turned around on the American people, and no American would have any privacy left such is the capability to monitor everything—telephone conversations, telegrams, it doesn't matter. There would be no place to hide.

If this government ever became a tyrant, if a dictator ever took charge in this country, the technological capacity that the intelligence community has given the government could enable it to impose total tyranny, and there would be no way to fight back because the most careful effort to combine together in resistance to the government, no matter how privately it was done, is within the reach of the government to know. Such is the capability of this technology.

I don't want to see this country ever go across the bridge. I know the capacity that is there to make tyranny total in America, and we must see to it that this agency and all agencies that possess this technology operate within the law and under proper supervision so that we never cross over that abyss. That is the abyss from which there is no return.

To narrow down the scope within the CIA, it was a project of the Georgetown Set, aka Frank Wisner ‘s Gang.

According to E. Howard Hunt's deathbed confession, we can conclude that the Wisner Gang was certainly involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Here's a peek at who they were:

Frank Wisner was also the architect of Operation GLADIO.  Besides Operation Mockingbird and the Presstitute Media we have today, we live with his legacy… Little Frankie Wisner Jr. has his hands all over North Africa.
