NYC Mayor Says "No Cause For Alarm" As Ebola Action Plan Prepared

Tyler Durden's picture

Holding the line of America's political leaders with regard the risk of an Ebola outbreak in the US, NY Mayor Bill de Blasio explained today "there is no cause for alarm." However, in his next breath, as Bloomberg reports, he announced that America's most-populous US city is increasing vigilance against the Ebola virus by involving every agency that interacts with the public. De Blasio called the meeting after the death yesterday in Dallas of Thomas Eric Duncan, "to make sure that if anyone does present themselves with symptoms, we have a clear protocol on how to handle the situation." Meanwhile, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told reporters today in Trenton, "we're not ready at airports yet but we will be."

As Bloomberg reports,

New York, the most-populous U.S. city, is increasing vigilance against the Ebola virus by involving every agency that interacts with the public, Mayor Bill de Blasio said.

Departments responsible for health, counter-terrorism, public safety and human services will work closely with federal and state officials, even though no case of the virus has been reported in the city of 8.4 million people, de Blasio said.

“There is no cause for alarm,” de Blasio said today at City Hall, where officials met to discuss Ebola strategy. “In New York City, we have an extraordinary effort in place to work with health providers all over this city, agencies of every kind, to make sure that if anyone does present themselves with symptoms, we have a clear protocol on how to handle the situation.”

...

De Blasio said New Yorkers who suspect they might be sick from the virus should go to a hospital emergency room. According to Health Commissioner Mary Bassett, only one person reported circumstances justifying a test for the virus, which proved negative.

...

“We’re not ready at airports yet but we will be,” New Jersey Governor Chris Christie told reporters today in Trenton. The governor said a private call with the White House had bolstered his confidence in state and federal plans to combat Ebola.

*  *  *
So that's good then - because The White House nailed call after call recently...

Yes we all know Fonz is taking a time out from the pit. He will be back, maybe even under some other wordname after the butt hurt has worn off.
Look, If you want to call a tyler out in fight club this is not the way to do it. You tell them they are wrong, politely it will hurt less when they hit you with a graph and math stuff.

One day ill call take those tylers to task over the working of money and why selling infinate is not as bad as the math says it should be.
But that thread and math is for another day. Besides i don't want to say the Powers that be are right or fight their fights for them.
They are wrong but their math is not as wrong as it should be.
The Feds math ought to be wrong because it is; but its not wrong in the way you may think it is.
Does that make any sense it should and it should not. Point of view . Edited for grammer.. somewhat.

Petition? Are you effing kidding me? Why aren't they smart enough to petition for themselves and refuse deployment?

This isn't a 2 year old putting their finger into an outlet. This is an adult with an alleged brain. Albeit heavily contaminated with things like fluoride. Why are they not smart enough to question their orders to save their own lives? Or even question their orders in relation to their oath.

Do you really want to save them and gamble that when the time comes and they are asked to shoot you in the head and push your body into an open pit that they will suddenly become smart enough to say enough is enough?

At some point you have to take a stand. And saving your very likely future "just following orders" executioner doesn't seem like a stand worth taking

It kind of goes along with my post from the other day

How many cases would you need to hear about affecting your kid's school before you pulled him/her out for a while?  When would you stop riding the bus?

10 cases in any city could lead to big problems.  100 could cause economic havok.  1000? - I'd be willing to bet most non-essential commerce would cease.

Thought exercise:  Next time you're at the grocery store, watch how folks select and buy food.  Then imagine that one or more shoppers are infected.  How long before a checker/bagger is infected?  How long might they work with flu-like symptoms?

Ebola, if and when it reaches NY, will inevitably spread some in the general population.

But amongst the illegal immigrant communities it could spread like wildfire.  Best to focus attention there.

Ignorant, non-English speaking, and living with 10 other people is not conducive to public health.

If you have symptoms of Ebola and are likely to die, make sure that the New York Stock Exchange is on your bucket list. There is no signal that it's time to panic more certain than a public official saying there's no cause for alarm.

Expect the numbers in the US to climb while the Obama admin tries to minimize it's impact.

All these mouth breathing libs are talking down EBOLA to keep millions of illegal welfare refugees on the table for after the election. Duh....

Death of American citizens is secondary to their goal of flooding the zone with millions of fruitpickers and cheap labor infected with TB, ISIS flags, and yes, Ebola.

La Guardia Airport Cleaners On Strike

The Financial Times reports Airline Cabin Cleaners Strike Over Ebola Fears

Up to 200 airline cabin cleaners were expected to strike on Thursday over concerns that they might be exposed to Ebola as US authorities try to contain alarm over the virus.

Cabin cleaners who work for Air Serv walked off their shifts at La Guardia airport, according to union representatives, the day after the US said it would step up health screenings of air travellers in the coming days.

La Guardia does not receive international flights, but a union official said workers were worried about international travellers arriving at the airport via domestic flights.

Last time I was unfortunate enough to travel through the gates of hell into that shithole of an airport I passed several alleged protectors of the proletariat carrying machine guns and wearing body armor

And I thought to myself how easy it would be for anyone with even an average level of martial arts training to take one of them out and have full access to their equipment in a place filled with civilians

Is crush, kill, destroy mentality ingrained in everyone from birth? It would also seem to presume that everyone there is a mindless bleating imbecile and couldn't come to the same conclusion about this obvious police state vulnerability and failed sense of logic

Nobodys talking about Enterovirus68 which is spreading all over this country and has caused the death of a number of children. Doesn't anyone question why Enterovirus hit our children so hard right after Our Illegal in Chief used his Homeland insecurity team to send thousands of illegals that we know were coming here with all kinds of disease and infections. Obama wanted to get them out fast so we didn't see any 21 day incubation period for those with scabies and other infections. Now these illegal children are in our schools and nobody is supposed to even question a possibility that the Enterovirus in a stronger form just might have arrived on those trains crossing our border.

Have you ever lived or spent time in NYC?  How about DC?  For me, as an objective westerner, I have no beef with New York.  DC, on the other hand, is a corrupt den of snakes that think they have the answer for EVERYBODY....including the West.  Speaking from experience, I can tell you that 90% of them have never been west of the Mississippi for anything more than a conference, and they have NO CLUE what is happening here. They make over $100,000 a year if they are even marginally intelligent.....check real estate prices in the DC suburbs since 9/11.  If there was a God, it would originate there, and not Monrovia......coincidentally it was Virginia where many slaves arrived and were then 'repatriated' to Liberia after the Civil War.

I am not a Democrat or a Republican.  I am an American, and if our society falls, karma suggests that it will start in Washington, DC.

I am betting the Bakken wont be far behind NY.  African immigrants everywhere working for shady service industry labor contractors.  Place has always been crowded and unsanitary.  Guys using port o' johns and tracking that crap everywhere, already supply issues and hospital infrastructure problems.  Maybe Ebola will get tight oil before the oil price does.

In two weeks, they won't be able to pay people to fly.
