What Happens Next?

Tyler Durden's picture

UPDATE: Who could have seen this coming?

Yesterday's 'biggest surge in 3 years' ramp in stocks (following the release of September's FOMC meeting minutes) was, perhaps surprisingly, not unprecedented. When the Septemeber FOMC statement was released we saw the same kneejerk 'buy it all' reaction with a dramatic divergence between stocks and bond yields... so what happens next?

It appears credit traders (and hedgers) know...

And Japan realized overnight too.

"Investors" yesterday engaged in a bit of loss taking.

/Assuming the opposite of 'profit taking' during a sell down is 'loss taking' during a cram-up.

Is the nonchalant, casual approach towards Ebola by our governments surprising anyone? They must be celebrating in the back rooms on how to milk and take advantage of this, blame the whole mess they have created on Ebola. First it was the weather, then Russia, then IS, now Ebola. The fuckerz have now probably found the mother of all excuses - a possible Ebola pandemic, to hasten the destruction of dissent and democracy, and prepare their shady plans that await us all.

They'll fuck it up though, as they always do.

Its a warm up. VIX is only around 17.

Wait until Ebola does the rounds.

I don't know, it must be central bank intervention that proprs the circus up so far, concerted and collusive central banking action. The big "invisible hand" of capitalism at work behind the curtain.

Orpheus was the dark hidden man in Man according to Nietzsche (or was it Rilke?).

Uber and unter, what a study of opposites. I loved Nietzsche's superman theory, although its a fairy tale.

The Nazi version of "untermensch", the subhuman, has its hallowed place in Auschwitz.

Funny how true fairy tales get distorted in power politics by true pathological demagogues.

Gog, Magog and demagogue.

I prefer Aphro, afro (like Naomi C)  and dite put together. Makes a sweeter Cocktail ! (No pun unintended!)

What happens next may depend on the dollars next move. For months the major world currencies have traded in a narrow range as if held in limbo by some great force. This has allowed people to think we were on sound footing as central banks across the world continued to print and pump out money chasing the "ever elusive growth" that always appears to be just around the corner. Recently some currencies have made multi-year highs or lows depending on the match-up .

The Fed wacked the dollar down but for how long? Because of weak demand for goods and most of this money flowing into intangible investments inflation has not been a major problem, but the seeds for its future growth have been planted everywhere. John Maynard Keynes said By a continuing process of inflation, government can confiscate, secretly and unobserved, an important part of the wealth of their citizens.

While there are not many Bond Vigilantes there are a slew of  Currency Vigilantes and they are ready to make their presence known. Weakness in the value of the Yen, Pound, and Euro must not go unnoticed. More on why this may be a signal that currency trading is about to get very wild in the article below. Please note, this may also be sending a signal that the whole system is unstable and the stock market is about to drop like a stone.

Exactly, nothing, but more of the same. It is the ‘New Normal’. By now the bears have been pretty much gored to death.  Earnings no longer matter, bad numbers, etc, all just mean the Fed Bank will create even moar money.  It will never end, until it does. When it does, it will all collapse. They know that, you know that and even I know that.  So, they can never stop, until they have to.  And when will that be?  Hope you have deep pockets, it may be a decade or more from now. They are holding up the entire economy of the world. They are gods to most.

Much the same has gone on in Japan for a long time. Finally the BOJ had to resort to outright stock purchases to support the markets. The Nikkei no longer reflects economic conditions, only the amount of bank intervention. Will the Fed ever resort to that?  You bet. Too big to fail.
