No one knows if the virus could be carried by milk cattle, beef cattle, or chickens, but the fact that numerous other mammalian species are known to be carriers should be enough by itself to justify quarantining all of west africa.
Those who say the US is different and can handle this better should consider the fact, unspoken and unaddressed in the media currently, that people in the US travel and get around much more than people in west africa, meaning there are orders of magnitude greater opportunities to spread the disease here, compared to africa. This virus doesn't give a damn if you are from west africa, the US, or Mars. It is evolutionarily perfected to persist and propagate, period. Anything less than a complete quarantine of west africa, and transfer of all inflected individuals to bio-safety level 4 facilities is endagerment to american citizens and should be punished accordingly.
