Despite "Better Economy" & Tumbling Unemployment, Obama Approval Rating Sinks To Record Low

Tyler Durden's picture

“Unemployment down, jobs up,” President Obama exclaimed, adding gloatingly that "manufacturing growing. Deficits cut by more than half. High School graduation up. College enrollment up. Energy production up.” As Spectator's Ralph Reiland points out, Obamanomics, allegedly batting a thousand - everything that should be up was up and everything that should be down was down. “By every economic measure, we are better off now than we were when I took office,” declared President Obama... so why, if everything is ponies and unicorns, is President Obama's approval rating at record lows. 61% of Americans disapprove of Obama's foreign policy with only 42% approving of the President overall.

With just weeks to the mid-terms, it appears the president is not helping matters for his team (as WaPo shows below)

Perhaps this is why?

Everyone has finally figured out that the propaganda coming out of Washington is just that, propaganda... Falsehoods, lies, obfuscations of the truth, coupled with malfeasance and outright ineptitude... All for political gain... The democrats would rather kill the country than to relinquish control... The GOP is no better... In other words, the whole system is irreparably broken...

Keyser, you've got it.  Pretty much everyone on ZH has figured out "that the propaganda coming out of Washington is just that, propaganda", but it's much broader than that.  Joe Sixpack, Edith Bunker and Willie Lohman have too!

Indeed, my experience is that if I really dig beneath all the layers of bullshit, it really is everybody.  They may not agree on what's true, but if I patiently take them still deeper I can find a level where almost everybody agrees on that.

But not that many have got it that "everyone has finally figured it out!"  The ultimate spell that's been cast is the shared illusion that "all those other stupid people out there" believe the bullshit.

So Keyser, Keep on sayin' it!

Precisely the problem. Obozo and the lib media have conditioned the dumbfuck populace into a liberal mindset over all shit going on in the world. He's cornered the minority vote. His approval rating should be in the teens based on average to low IQ dwellers in these respective demographics, and all others polling favorably for obozo are either clueless or beneficiaries of his discombobulated vision of America, which is what.. see, I can't even characterize or define his nonsense.

It's called voting against one's self interest, and loyal voters of either of the false two-party illusion (they work for the same people, and use a social wedge issue strategy of divide and conquer to stay in office while colluding on the substantive crimes against the American Citizenry) are equally culpable.

Americans have been extremely well trained to vote against their self interests; then again, neither party gives any sincere concern to the concerns of and problems facing the common citizen (Americans), so it's a moot point at this stage.

Does anyone really think 'elections' matter in the Land of Electronic Spying and electronic 'vote' counting ?

The criminals in charge just need to make sure they aren't so completely blatant in their thievery & dictorial behavior as to cause mass riots & revolution in the streets.

Given the stupidity of much of the population, we're a very long way from that.

Someone said that it takes enough intelligence to know why freedom is important and it takes enough courage to fight for it. Both qualities are in short supply.

Actually it might.  Disease can and will disproportionately kill the elderly and infirm.  If it gets loose in a big way, expect real wages to rise in many places as the population gets cratered.

Of course, tax breaks should keep in lock-step with the diminishing elderly population, but everyone knows that taxes only go down if you're a millionaire these days.

Most likely in the short term, but I also see it killing off more people in population dense areas and countries and affecting government budgets.  Also in the event you are over 55, my bet is the fatality rate goes up exponentially.

There will always be consumption.  People consume just to exist.  I'm not going to cry myself to sleep at night if 1000 less Cadillacs get sold.  I'm more worried about some jackass with executive power using my tax revenues to prop up/recapitalize failing businesses (to the tune of a cool 4 trillion) and then taxing me again to refill the coffers.

Carter can't even be compared with O'bomb-a. Carter was a nice, good, Christian man who had very good intentions and loved America. He was just in way over his head and couldn't play the Game. O'bomb-a is a phoney, narcissistic, malevolent homosexual (not that there's anything wrong with that) who hates America. Carter is occasionally misguided in his attempts at altruism, but from what I've seen, he has always acted from a desire to be a good man and really try to help others. After (if) O'bomb-a leaves office, he will set up a 'charitable foundation' to preserve his wealth, take speaking engagements at $250K a pop, and do everything he can to further the toxic progressive agenda. Carter actually did something to deserve his Peace Prize. O'bomb-a got one for saying he was going to do something.

Obama doesn't care about Congress.  Congress is completely irrelevant.  He wants amnesty and he's going to do it shortly after the elections.

After that, if you want my best guess how he gets to one-party rule, I would guess he goes after the Electoral College system.  Ditch that system in favor of popular vote nation-wide and you have eliminated any chance of an opposition party (Republicans or ANY other party) ever having the Presidency after that.

The problem with CW II or a Revolution is that it requires REAL leaders, and "first-in" men who are willing to die for the cause.

The first wave will be mowed down by well fed, well-sheltered, whore-supplied government goons.  We have see this in history before.  After that, as numbers increase it becomes easier.  However, the first cut is the deepest.

I'm not sure we have such principled men, or such a mindset, in this country any more.  At least, not until REAL hardship is numbingly relentless, and there is no other way out.

That's an NBC poll, so the real numbers are twice as bad as that. Here's how NBC Pollsters really phrase their questions to make Obama look as good as possible in the polls:

NBC Question: "Do you approve or disapprove of Obama's nice suits when he talks about the economy."

A. Disapprove 51%

B. Approve     42%

C. Not Sure     8%

Why does he poll so bad?  Could it be because he is a lying scumbag piece of shit?  It's like asking why the stock market is down.  Imminent end of QE plus a dose of Ebola fear as a precipitating trigger?  These things are just obvious.

The biggest lie of all is that the Obama hatred is not racist. Obama has quietly endured vicious mockery that would have sent his predecessors into a vindictive fury. For all his faults, he has shown strength and grace under pressure.

The motley collection of knuckle-dragging creationists, gold bugs, gun nuts, Xenophobes, and zombie-hallucinating survivalists who claim to be the "real" Americans despise this articulate and prudent President because he is a civilized man. God help us when they elect the leader they deserve.

The mercantile triumph of ZeroHedge is that it has become a magnet for the festering anger of simple-minded people with toy-like models of how the world works. These people are immune to facts and prize their hatred above any practical gain. ZeroHedge profits from encouraging this mob, and this is a deeply shameful business.

Just fallen out of your pram, have you?  Too young to remember Bush Derangement Syndrome, and Bushitler and all the other attacks directed at Bush who didn't appear to fly into the "vindictive fury" you mention, nor sent the IRS after his opponents, nor refused to abide by the law the way Obama and Holder have done?

Nothing like slandering all the other posters on a site because they don't share your views.  Is that an example of "vindictive fury"?

I might have voted for Obama if I was a one-eyed Chinese lesbian dwarf.  And he probably would have won my vote if I was a deeply autistic metro-sexual with a Master's Degree in the drone targeting of mildly autistic heterosexuals.

The problem is twofold.

One, the economic numbers are manipulated.  People falling off unemployment are hidden, bad jobs are counted the same as good jobs, etc.  Low approval in that context is legitimate.

Two, many Republicans are just plain stupid.  Corporate profits are through the roof, just like they wanted, but they're angry at the Kenyan Muslim Nazi Socialist Fascist Cookie Monster anyway.  Because reasons.

There is only one solution. A takeover by the military in which every member of Congress and the executive branch is summarily tried and executed for treason. This would be a national day of liberation for America. I would love to see all these bastards shot by firing squad out on the white house lawn. Dump their worthless bodies in a ditch.

A takeover "by the military"?  By the top brass?  Seriously?  And where do *their* loyalties lie?

I don't really know the answer to that question, but the officer corps was always recruited from the children of the elite by design; are they still?

Those at the top are wined and dined at the tables of the super rich and courted by the MIC.  So who has their ear, and if they call all the shots, who will they serve?

They're barred from "fraternizing" with their own enlisted men. Their connection with us regular folk, their ability to connect with us as fellow humans or even as fellow Americans is broken by design, so they can send us to our deaths with less regret or hesitation. Is that who we want making the strategic decisions?

If you ask the enlisted men and the veterans if they want their generals and colonels to take over the country, what would they say?

The MIC is owned by JPMorgan and the Goldman Sachs.  They're continued existance is wrapped up in keeping the Keynesian Ponzi propped up by ensuring aggregate demand and that all those towel heads keep taking our credit we create out of thin air for their finite oil supply.

think about this. the usa has had two of the worst presidents in the usa, a stupid silver spooned boy who pretended to be a red neck rancher and a black guy who has confirmed for everyone paying attention that the office of the presidency is ceremonial. the advantage an incumbent has(congress has record low approbval ratings that make obambam look popular) is the guy running against him is as stupid and incompetent as he is so the vote goes to the known loser rather than the new loser because the result doesn't change.

It would have been an easy addition to the article to have GW's and the Obama's numbers.  I am thinking the numbers were similar.

Seems like we are worse off though, now, of course many of these problems were seeded earlier.

The Obama White House is reminding me, more and more, of the Second Term Reagan White House.  The President is at least partially disconnected from reality.  All the best people in the Administration (slim pickings to start with) are gone, and he's surrounded by second-rate intellects and yes-men.  Unfortunately, the problems facing the country now are significantly more complex - and dangerous -than in 1986.  The next 27 months are going to be rough.
