The Crocodile Jaws Spring Open Again, Preparing To Bite

Tyler Durden's picture

And with that, the eternal (and rhetorical) question once again resurfaces: who is right - bonds or stocks?

Today...

Now where have we seen this before? And how did it end? (only at least 8 times in the last week)

Slightly OT, butt...

Christophe de Margerie, the head of Total (the 2-nd largest energy company in the EU) has been killed in a plane crash in Moscow. During the take-off, his plane collided with a snow plow. He was a huge opponent of the EU fucking with Russia.

The dude was a Gerhard Schroeder on steroids (or  like Frau Merkel with 5 testies).  ;-)

Here’s a Reuters link ->http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/07/08/uk-total-russia-idUKKBN0FD0BW20...

By the way, do NAILGUNS fall under the 2-nd Amendment? :-)

Answer:  Oil too.

I think oil is providing predictive and explanatory power here too and it confirms the bonds...a(nother) very weak day for oil today.

How can interest rates go up if the FED can monetize the bond market even though Bernanke swore in front of Congress not to do so?

Please give me an example.

And the same holds true if the FED can run the printing presses to game the stock market.  Why can't they?  Who is preventing them?

But hopefully I am wrong and the "true" markets take over.

They haven't for the last 6 years.

Almost FORTY MILLION I-phones in one quarter, and before that, and before that.  People with no jobs standing in the rain waiting.  Barely employed, with EBT cards, still making the monthly payments. A society of fools; no common sense at all. People who already have 3-4 phones want the newest toy, don’t care whether they can afford it.  Their entire self-esteem is based upon having a phone. Not just teenagers, all ages.  Apple execs are laughing all the way to the bank. Go figure…

Step back a minute.  For alot of people, worldwide, this is their 1 and ONLY connection to <insert lifeline> Its Phone, its Text, its Photos, its documenting the next Hitler in realtime but nobody believes it, its not just a THING. Its a DOORWAY.....Apple does what it has to do to survive in the business world, but beyond that, the world does what it needs to. Don't confuse Facebookwith Apple.

Last week killed many bond shorts. (incl. economatters?). For those so inclined, I would be cautious about resetting those tbond longs just yet. Even with end of month dividend coming up. Unless you are an excellent hedger from Zero Hedge.

Have you EVER seen 5 points up?  I lived when 30 yr contract was 8% and I don't think bonds went 5 pts on Black Monday 1987!

You saw todays ZH article about the big banks buying tbonds the entire time they were recommending to clients to short them. It was just a matter of time before the ultimate margin call betrayal. They are wringing muppets asses out any way they can, to generate revenue. Watch from one extreme to another. I am dead onto their BS. But I did cash out some long held TLT (ETF) just a little bit earlier than I could have. That's OK. Pigs do get slaughtered. I am looking to gradually reload.

5 pts in 60 minutes greatly exceeds Stuart Varney's ability to inform the world.

An entire class of "investors" was wiped out, and The Fed is now secretly bailing them out, er, infusing LIQUIDITY, those bastids...,.
