Ottawa Shooter Idenfitied As Canadian National Michael Zehaf Bibeau, Whose Passport Was Recently Seized
Moments ago CBS News reported, citing Law enforcement and U.S. Government sources, that the shooter in today's tragic Ottawa incident was Michael Abdul Zehaf Bibeau, born in Canada in 1982. One source says he sometime dropped the name Michael and went by Abdul Zehaf Bibeau. At other times he apparently dropped the Abdul. In a report from the Muslim Issue, Zehaf-Bibeau is said to be reportedly of Algerian descent.
Zehaf-Bibeau is the alleged shooter who killed soldier at the national War Memorial before entering the Centre Block and firing off more shots. Epoch Times reporter Matthew Little says that the shooter got as far as the library before Sergeant-At-Arms shot him dead.
Earlier, a Canadian parliament official described the gunman to BBC as looking “Arabian” with “long hair and a small beard.”
According to Montreal reporter Domenic Fazioli, Bibeau was arrested five times in the city. He has three possession charges dating back to 2004 (marijuana and PCP). His two other arrests were for parole violations.
Witnesses said they saw Bibeau wearing a black coat with blue jeans, reports CBC. The same report says gun used in the attack was a double-barrel shotgun. Alberta Labor Minister Ric McIver told the Ottawa Sun that Bibeau was driving a “brown Toyota Corolla with no license plate.” He added that the car “roared up the street and screeched to a halt.”
The Globe and Mail adds that he was recently designated a “high-risk traveller” by the Canadian government and that his passport had been seized – the same circumstances surrounding the case of Martin Rouleau-Couture, the Quebecker who was shot Monday after running down two Canadian Forces soldiers with his car.
Bibeau was shot dead by the Canadian Parliament’s Sergeant-at-Arms, Kevin Vickers. He was killed inside the Canadian parliament’s Center Block building.
As CBS adds, no motives for the shootings have been revealed yet, but the incidents happened one day after two other soldiers -- one of whom later died -- were run over by a car driven by a recent Muslim convert and jihadist sympathizer whom police also shot and killed. The series of incidents in Ottawa began shortly before 10 a.m., when the soldier was shot.

Witnesses said the soldier was gunned down by a man dressed all in black with a scarf over his face.
"I looked out the window and saw a shooter, a man dressed all in black with a kerchief over his nose and mouth and something over his head as well, holding a rifle and shooting an honor guard in front of the cenotaph point-blank, twice," Tony Zobl, 35, told the Canadian Press news agency.
Zobl said he witnessed the incident from his fourth-floor window directly above the National War Memorial, a 70-foot, arched granite cenotaph, or tomb, with bronze sculptures commemorating World War I.
"The honor guard dropped to the ground, and the shooter kind of raised his arms in triumph holding the rifle," Zobl said.
Zobl and other witnesses said the gunman then ran up the street toward Parliament Hill, and later entered the main building there, where dozens of shots rang out.
The soldier was rushed to a hospital but later died. Ottawa Hospital said in addition to the soldier, it received three patients, all with "minor, non-life threatening injuries."

I've been watching these tank cam recordings of the war in Syria and it's pretty clear that they have no idea where the other guys are. They're all just shooting blindly. The last time the Canucks had a real terrorist problem was with the FLQ in the early 70's. They dealt with it in a very heavy handed, but rather effective way. They imposed the War Measures Act, got serious about finding these guys, and then went back to normal. And nobody tried anything on this scale again until today. BTW - their War Measures Act was nowhere near as crazy as our nutcase operation in Boston after the Marathon - they had the troops out, but it all was rather civilized and life pretty much went on as normal - we could learn a lesson or two - lockdowns are not Martial law - they are despotism at its most extreme and straight out of Orwell's 1984.
I suspect that the Canucks will not go full bore this time - I expect that they will quietly turn over the CSIS unfriendlies list to the JTF - who will make some targeted house calls and put these clowns under serious scrutiny (meaning neighbourhood awareness type stuff as this seems to have worked very well in Canada before) - similar to the Canadian approach to the Taliban in Afghanistan. It's amazing what a community can do to police itself if they understand the threat to be credible.
On the other hand, I spoke with a bunch of Canucks today (business associates) and they all told me about the same thing - more people die in the road carnage around the GTA everyday than were killed today in Ottawa - this is not terrorism - it's stupidism - and needs to get mopped up Canuck style with no heavy handed over the top BS. You got a list - these 100 people need to be thoroughly scoped, the list likely reduced by 2/3 and the balance put on a short leash.
