Top Ebola Scientists: Ebola More Likely to be Spread by Aerosol In Cold, Dry Conditions than In Hot, Humid Africa

George Washington's picture

We've repeatedly warned that this strain of Ebola might be spread by aerosols.

But there is a fascinating and terrifying wrinkle to this ...

You might assume that hot, steamy places would be more likely to spread deadly germs than developed countries. But the opposite might be true.

In 1995, scientists from the US Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) reported in the International Journal of Experimental Pathology:

We also demonstrated aerosol transmission of Ebola virus at lower temperature and humidity than that normally present in sub-Saharan Africa. Ebola virus sensitivity to the high temperatures and humidity in the thatched, mud, and wattel huts shared by infected family members in southern Sudan and northern Zaire may have been a factor limiting aerosol transmission of Ebola virus in the African epidemics. Both elevated temperature and relative humidity (RH) have been shown to reduce the aerosol stability of viruses (Songer 1967). Our experiments were conducted at 240C [i.e. 75 degrees Fahrenheit] and < 40% RH, conditions which are known to favour the aerosol stability of at least two other African haemorrhagic fever viruses, Rift Valley fever and Lassa (Stephenson et a/. 1984; Anderson et a/. 1991). If the same holds true for filoviruses [Ebola is a type of filovirus], aerosol transmission is a greater threat in modern hospital or laboratory settings than it is in the natural climatic ranges of viruses.

Peter Jahrling was one of the authors of the report.  Jahrling was discoverer of the Reston strain of Ebola, and is now chief scientist at the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

In 2012, scientists from USAMRIID published a report in the journal Viruses finding:

Aerosol transmission is thought to be possible and may occur in conditions of lower temperature and humidity which may not have been factors in outbreaks in warmer climates.

Given that this is the first time that Ebola has spread out of West Africa to cooler, dryer nations, we may soon find out whether or not high temperature and humidity really do suppress the spread of Ebola by aerosols.

not so worried, why:

1. cases in usa not incr per msm

2. new cases seem to be those who went to africa and returned

3.maybe  the MSM is not allowed to report real numbers

4. more of #3.

5. lying is a virtue in .gov

6. obvious basic mistakes in handling contact with ebola cases (see pics of clip board man  as only one example cops in nyc throwing possilbe infected protective gear in public trash) and no reported new cases  resulting ..remember power wash guy in texas?

7. so what is known if true - means do not panic just yet. wait  & watching this is still fubar with obvious poor infection control policy mandated by .gov- anyway the ave person has no way to protect oneself short of isolation in the boonies - most of us need the paycheck so that is not a real option.

Several comments focused here on the virulent TB strain that is out of West Africa. The question must be posed then, why do we continue to import mass amounts of Africans into the US? Libiera only has 4.2 Million people but in the last twenty years we have "immigrted" to the US 1.2 MILLION Liberians meaning every Liberian still in Africa has (without a doubt) at least one person who is able to provide them "family reunification" sponsorship. We are creating entire Countries within the US from third worlders.

And they are bringng their diseases. It also might be worthwhile to consider that many of the "good Samaritans" go for very short periods of time. The most recent, the NY doc, was there for about one month before he returned. This would indicate that if they are going to go there, they should have to stay there. It's almost like a quick resume jaunt...sorry but that's what it seems like.

Oh, and in the movie Oubreak (Dustin Hoffman) the village they go to at the beginning of the move where everyone is dead is seen as a result of the infectious person drinking from the village well and by doing so passing it to everyone else. There has been virtually no coverage of how the waste, particularly the early waste that would go into the sewers, of ebola patients might affect our water, et al.

The Entry of Ebola into the US Has Hallmarks of a Planned Happening

Paul Craig Roberts

More information is available that suggests the the government had advance information that ebola was coming to the US and that the government expects a much larger outbreak of the disease in the US than it admits.

Keep in mind that Washington is evil and has been killing people in seven countries for thirteen years based entirely on lies. Keep in mind that Washington has a long list of countries that it has destabilized. Most recently Washington overthrew the elected government in Ukraine and is currently working on the remaining independent governments in the Middle East, Russia, and China as Tony Cartalucci’s article documents: http://www.globalresearch.ca/turmoil-in-hong-kong-terrorism-in-xinjiang-americas-covert-war-on-china/5409079 For six case studies of how Washington overthrows governments read The Brothers."

Lower relative humidity leads to less stuff in the air to interfere with the movement of an aerosol. Thus, it's simply a matter of physics that expulsions will travel further in drier environments.

According to Ft. Detrick, MD BioWeapons Lab, the sweet spot for survival outside the host is 4C, 30%-40% humidity and a hard surface. A hard surface, maybe like a door nob.

"Ebola virus disease[edit]

Bushmeat being prepared for cooking in Ghana, 2013. Human consumption of equatorial animals in Africa in the form of Bushmeat has been linked to the transmission of diseases to people, including ebola.[2]
The natural reservoir of some diseases remain unclear. This is the case of the Ebola virus disease.[3]

One study between 1976 and 1998, from 30,000 mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and arthropods sampled from outbreak regions, no ebolavirus was detected apart from some genetic traces found in six rodents (Mus setulosus and Praomys) and one shrew (Sylvisorex ollula) collected from the Central African Republic.[4][5] Traces of EBOV were detected in the carcasses of gorillas and chimpanzees during outbreaks in 2001 and 2003, which later became the source of human infections. However, the high lethality from infection in these species makes them unlikely as a natural reservoir.[4]

However, a subsequent study, in a later outbreak, found 31.8% of the dogs closest to an outbreak contained antigens that indicate a previous active viral load.[6] Whether dogs passed the virus to humans, or both were infected by a third species is unknown.

Plants, arthropods, and birds have also been considered as possible reservoirs; however, bats are considered the most likely candidate.[7] Bats were known to reside in the cotton factory in which the index cases for the 1976 and 1979 outbreaks were employed, and they have also been implicated in Marburg virus infections in 1975 and 1980.[4] Of 24 plant species and 19 vertebrate species experimentally inoculated with EBOV, only bats became infected.[8]

The absence of clinical signs in these bats is characteristic of a reservoir species. In a 2002–2003 survey of 1,030 animals including 679 bats from Gabon and the Republic of the Congo, 13 fruit bats were found to contain EBOV RNA fragments.[9] As of 2005, three types of fruit bats (Hypsignathus monstrosus, Epomops franqueti, and Myonycteris torquata) have been identified as being in contact with EBOV. They are now suspected to represent the EBOV reservoir hosts.[10]

The existence of integrated genes of filoviruses in some genomes of small rodents, insectivorous bats, shrews, tenrecs, and marsupials indicates a history of infection with filoviruses in these groups as well.[11] However, it has to be stressed that infectious ebolaviruses have not yet been isolated from any nonhuman animal.

Bats drop partially eaten fruits and pulp, then terrestrial mammals such as gorillas and duikers feed on these fallen fruits. This chain of events forms a possible indirect means of transmission from the natural host to animal populations, which have led to research towards viral shedding in the saliva of bats. Fruit production, animal behavior, and other factors vary at different times and places that may trigger outbreaks among animal populations.[12] Transmission between natural reservoirs and humans are rare, and outbreaks are usually traceable to a single index case where an individual has handled the carcass of gorilla, chimpanzee, or duiker.[13] The virus then spreads person-to-person, especially within families, hospitals, and during some mortuary rituals where contact among individuals becomes more likely.[14]

Natural reservoir
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For other uses, see Reservoir (disambiguation).
A natural reservoir or nidus (the latter from the Latin word for "nest") is the long-term host of a pathogen of an infectious disease.[1] Hosts often do not get the disease carried by the pathogen or it is carried as a subclinical infection and so asymptomatic and non-lethal. Once discovered, natural reservoirs elucidate the complete life cycle of infectious diseases, providing effective prevention and control."

Speaking of meat:

Scientists: Humans are 'an infection' and Ebola is Earth's immune response to consume all the human 'meat'

...Perhaps the biosphere does not "like" the idea of five billion humans. Or it could also be said that the extreme amplification of the human race, which has occurred only in the past hundred years or so, has suddenly produced a very large quantity of meat, which is sitting everywhere in the biosphere and may not be able to defend itself against a life form that might want to consume it...

I like this. ^

Compared to nuclear war set off by the psychopaths and psychopath dupes in Washington, or environmental collapse resulting from 7+ billion humans forced by criminal transnational corporations to use primitive energy technologies despite the fact that far better options exist, it leaves the earth without humans in sufficiently good condition to heal quickly, without the extinction of thousands of species that deserve to continue.

Perhaps it's time to give the dolphins a crack at it.

This is the continuing malfeasance of our government scientists using science. They make a statement, aka as a theory, and announce it as fact. All theories must be subject to scientific testing for validity. No scientific tests have proven that ebola is or is not transmitted through the air. Other viruses, such as the flu, are transmitted more in cold months. That ebola is like other viruses has not been scientifically proven.

What we're left with is endless conjecture without scientific proof. The title doctor in front of their name has as much value as placing black robes on a sleazy lawyer and calling him, your honor.

I totally agree that the scientific method is not being followed by

governments worldwide. If they actually followed the scientific method

we would not get this endless cycling of conjecture and propaganda.

If you read _Propaganda_ by J. Ellul you will find that propaganda is dependent upon technology (Infectious Disease/genetics/DNA/RNA) in

order to have efficacy, or validity. Without the technological manipulation and subterfuge the propaganda is weak and does not take a target population where the social scientist wants to go. In brief, propaganda is

completely dependent on the determinant of technology that fuels the conjecture cycling. In this case we are seeing the complete disregard for the scientific method, and critical thinking, or scientific assessment. Hypothesis, thesis, synthesis is the normal course of progression in scientific discovery, but propaganda is not about 'scientific discovery'

when it is used simply to impart 'ideas' as facts that have been verified

by science, scientists, and the scientific method.
