Yes, I mean this was not an accident, and there were 2 of them. One of the girls was tied up and stuffed into a trunk. That requires a considerable comfort-level, both in taking on 2 and in handling a corpse, which is something you have to build up to...no killer starts like that out of nowhere.
And stuffing a body into a suitcase is NOT easy. Try asking an adult-sized friend to go limp, and see if you even CAN get him stuffed into a suitcase.
This takes a level of dedication, and some knowledge of how to manipulate a corpse to get it to bend the way it needs to pull that off. And it takes some time. The best that a first-time killer would have been able to do is give the body a few zipper-burns in a panicked futile attempt before he ran like hell out of there.
