Something Is Seriously Broken

and then there's this... The other decoupling

And here is today's schizophrenia...

Stocks played catch down to bonds 3 times... (just look at the stock 'market' movements... do they look in any way normal?)

Driven by oil prices - today higher oil was a good thing, lower a bad thing again...

Simultaneous inflation and deflation is called INEQUALITY.

Inequality increases the purchasing power of the rich, so high quality goods and services experience inflation due to higher demand, while it decreases purchasing power of the poor, thus decreasing the price or the quality of the lower priced goods, creating direct or overt deflation respectively.

This behavior can be studied using economies that have a high inequality index, like Argentina and looking a the bimodal distribution of the prices of the same goods. For instance a litter of champagne can cost either 5 dollars (cheap garbage type champagne) or 5000 dollars, for a bottle of high quality champagne.

The novelty for the USA is that this phenomena wasn't observable when our middle class was large and strong, but now... It is there for all to see.

The masters of America are now in the process of looting as much as they can. The tribe judges and legislators are mandating that African-American culture be the dominate culture. Get all Americans hooked on strong marijuana and heroine. Demand gun control and militarized police departments to "PROTECT" the tribe while they loot and "DRAIN" value from the host.

It's called malinvestment. The Austrian economists know this concept very well. People say Austrian economists are the only ones who actually understand interest rates.
It means money has moved it's duration around in some fucked up way that helps nobody and leads to ineffectual assets. Poverty ensues.

IT IS ABOUT TIME.

Edit...Think of this like ...Oil is in limited supply when that "indefinable nothing" is measured in Dollars.

Crossing over the street means getting away from the Street....Wall Street.

This was released initially in the early 1980s by another artist and is a cover by Martin Gore. But it was prescient.

Compulsion

off of Martin Gore's "COUNTERFEIT" album.

Charms in limited supply
And refusing to stretch
That indefinable nothing
Somehow keeps pushing you
Finding the right words
Can be a problem
How many times must it be said
There's no plan
It had to happen

Got to move on sometime
And it's about time
By putting one foot in front of another
And repeating the process
Cross over the street
You're free to change your mind
Strength through diversity
Couldn't have put it more plainly
Got to move on sometime
Got to move on sometime
Got to move on sometime
Got to move on sometime

Charms in limited supply
Under threat of extinction
That indefinable nothing
Somehow motivates you

My friend turned me onto physical gold 5 years ago, Friday he texted me bitching about gold tanking as if it was my fault.   I bought gold when it was $1250/ounce on his advice, and then he bought in much later at $1850/ounce.  Maybe he doesn't understand the "Buy low" concept.

Just how in the hell are we going to support this economy if everyone insists on buying low and selling high? Even third grade math would tell you that there has to be equal numbers buying high and selling low for this to work out (not assuming inflation in which we will all be loser eventually). I have been doing my part as I have continually bought at the top of every market (except this one) and sold at the bottom. I bought silver coins at $35/ounce, so all you people wanting cheap silver have me to thank. AS my patience has run thin of late I have considered buying back into the stock market (been out since 2010) just to burn the fucker to the ground. Obviously its going to fall back on me to supply the high side buy that allows prices to fall again. I just can't do this all by myself! Come on... lets all Buy The Fucking Top and Blow It All To Hell!

When commodity demand actually sets the price we will know we have a market. Currently every price is based on speculation that in most cases has NOTHING to do with demand.

I don't know why people think a deflationary spiral is caused by money supply. Money doesn't spend itself, there are other factors that no one seems to give serious consideration to.
Transactions require willing buyers and sellers, and an agreed-upon price. If the price is considered too high, the buyer won't buy no matter how much discretionary income he has. Downward pressure is now exerted on that item, irrespective of money supply.
Perhaps velocity of existing money is a better indicator. How fast are dollars changing hands?

I agree. It's getting more messy and confusing on main street daily. In the end, that's all that counts. From my business perspective, the consumer has fled.

In some respects, this period reminds me of the doldrum economy of the early 70's.

Different, of course, is that gut feeling that time is running out.

Doubt it. We need an alternative to rally around. If acceptance of the beauty of the emperor rags defines whether you eat, then he can be forever naked and no one will care. Sure they may admit to the lie in private but they will dare not speak out if it threatens them personally. No one wants to potentially surrender what they now have to correct this mess. Which is exactly how we got here. Our governments, world wide, have such control over the message that they can keep the fear level up so that no one will let go of the limb they are on to grasp for a better one. Be it Terror, or ebola, our republicans bringing back slavery, their job is to keep us afraid and only them as the viable protector. And if they can keep us fighting over abortions, prayer in schools, or smoking dope as the ultimate expression of our freedoms, we are fucked. Well, actually, we are fucked anyway...just sayin.
