The Paradox Goes On: Inequality-Incensed Voters Send Dow To All Time High

Tyler Durden's picture

Because nothing says 'dissatisfaction' with the widening inequality in America like buying stocks at record highs...

Not everyone is 'buying' though...

I couldn't believe my ears.  MSNBC was on in the break room and Chuck Todd sayd "the election was all about Obama".  WTF?

You mustn't have seen any GOP political ads, placing Obama in every ad next to the Democrat opponent.

If you missed that, you shouldn't be allowed to operate heavy machinery, because your vision is terrible.

I don't watch TV so I didn't have to see one political ad. My vision is 20/20.

There truly are TWO STOCK markets, one depicting fantasy for the sheeps who looks at digits (STOCK prices of companies which will do whatever to manipulate share prices higher) to guide their future. And one depicting reality for those who understand wtf is going on and is replenishing their STOCK of goods. I think a lot of ZHers are in the latter camp and although things dont look so good for those in that camp, I think things are speeding up to the point that you dont have to wait too much longer.

I always said that GOLD will take a huge dump before it surges...it maybe happening now. Stock prices surging to all time highs and gold prices plunging allows the people with capital to buy more gold with more overvalued equities...before stocks tank and gold rebounds....lets see how long this reallocation plays out.

No no no...

This spike up today is only a last gasp head fake by the Obamaloids trying to show "all is still well" even after their crushing defeat.

It should top out today or next few days before the "oh shit" reality sinks into their mushy skulls and they all start killing each other as they freak out for the exits.

Should be fun to watch em stampede each other to death!

Agreed Divided States. Don't forget the paper PM component.  Dump faux gold, which indiscriminately crushes physical, plow into stocks to push record highs, then just before the music stops, liquidate equities and go long physical PM's.  Just be sure you're on the list of those that get the memo from the guy who pulls the plug on the jukebox.

I watched a few for entertainment purposes only. The best were the Illinois governor ads. Both candidates were absolute filthy criminal scumbags but the sheep still lined up to endorse these degenerates. Based on the campaign coverage last night there are actually people stupid enough to take shit seriously

Actually, I haven't watched more than two hours of MSNBC this year. I don't watch cable news channels or cable financial networks. I'd rather stick my cock in a running engine than do either of those things.

People didn't vote their economic situation yesterday. They rarely do any more.

The Republicans won because of the party's continued lurch to full-out fascism - guns, God, and gays are still the Holy Trinity of the GOP. Anybody with a knowledge of political history and political thought and theory can see this. I'm one of those folks.

It's true. It's damn true.

"Inequality," as it the pop social meme defines it, is based largely on inflation of assets by the Fed.  Imagine if just a small percentage of social security assets of those-that-presently-refuse-to-participate were in stocks?  But if those assets were self-managable many would be so much better off.  Maybe they could even own some gold.  Actuarially, we know some will die early.  They could even have something to leave to their heirs if it happened.

But we know, of course, that so many prefer to keep these people dependent 'on that check.'

Most people are far too stupid to manage their entire retirement money themselves.  I'm sorry, but look at the sorry state of 401k investments vs traditional pensions.  Social Security is meant as a backstop.  That is why it cannot be lost in a bankruptcy, and why it is a right of every citizen who participated in the system.  It is not meant to be an investment vehicle, and it shouldn't be made into one.

There is only one, only one reason that the tide turned against the democrats.

G A Y   M A R R I A G E  shoved down the throats of majority who may declare they are in favor of it, rights and all that shit, but secretly are disgusted and angry that gays can't find another way to create their own tradition for joining together as a couple with all the rights of married ones.

Gays have overreached, come out of the closet as if republicans and conservatives and christians have been standing guard in front of it when they could care less.

When the truth, yeah right, is written the loss will be laid at the feet of Tim Cook and other loudmouths who can't keep their sexual perversion to themselves.

Like one's net worth, the sexual lives of everyone, hetero, homo, hermaphro, bi, and every other combination belongs in that world of privacy that so many proclaim is their right.

You betcha

Inequality-Incensed Voters Send Dow To All Time High

As if.

Inequality-incensed voters get up at 5 am to wait in line to buy the stocks that comprise the Dow average.

Hello?

Most of them can't afford to shop at WalMart anymore.  They can barely pay their mortgages and some families are facing foodless Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We are in a bottom-up depression and the folks at the top are too blind to see the economic Ebola that's climing up the ladder of well-being to get them.

I take your point but I would have liked a different headline.  :o)
