The 10 Most Expensive Homes In The World
There’s an odd-looking building in South Mumbai in India that looks like it’s under construction, only that it’s finished and furnished. And by how much. Called the Antilia, after mythical island in the Atlantic, the building is famous not for its odd structures of extra high ceilings and protruding floors; it’s the second most expensive house today at $1 billion. Barring the Buckingham Palace, which is valued at $1.55 billion, it would have been our most expensive house in our list, as Forbes.com has named it in 2014. In fact, Forbes cited that it’s the first house (other than palaces) to breach the $1 billion range.
Our infographic of the world’s most expensive houses compares the home values against the British Royal’s residence. Interestingly, the palace is not the most ornate or opulent among palaces; Saudi royals and sheiks are known to live more lavishly, beating their European counterparts. But property value is not just about what the house is, but who lives in it. The Queen of England lends to the palace a value higher than the structure’s worth.
Likewise, property value is all about where it is. It’s no surprise that Kensington in Southwest London has three entries in our list, a known favorite playground by the world’s billionaires. The usual suspects, Aspen, Beverly Hills, and Palm Beach, are also included.

Inflated values.
I can't read material of this kind without Robin Leech telling me how awesome it all is.
You know Zesstimates are highly inaccurate...
They forgot to include my favorite vacation resort: the cardboard refrigerator box under the Brooklyn Bridge.
If you can get in. They have been overbooked for 6 years now.
what happend to 1 Hyde Park circa £140m and Regents Park £80m. Hyper inflation....dont be silly!
Interesting list but I think it's inaccurate and not complete.
Biltmor Estate I've read is worth over a billion
Anybody seen Downtown Abbey? I'm sure that's worth over $80 million.
And I'm sure many old homes that Rothschilds own could be on there too.
I think it was the History Channel or some ither programe about 6 years ago that valued Buckingham Palace then at 1bill. Only a 50% increase? Queeny must be disappointed....ouf wiv their heads. Silver Bitchez!
Yup. More examples of tatt over taste.

Umm....Hearst Castle is nowhere near Beverly Hills.
Yeah, I know. When we visited it, it seemed like we drove forever. And it was a dump, if I may use that term. Didn't seem like ole Whatsisname Hearst had any sort of concept at all. He just assembled this mishmash of wings and rooms and stuff.
He was like a hoarder with way too much money.
I've said it before but I'll say it again: "The wealthy are grotesque"
Somewhat amazed there's not a single Swiss property in that list...
Perhaps the Swiss are just more discreet.

Based on what they represent?
Not one of them.
Great article. Glad it was here instead of this one: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/the-9-billion-witness-20141106
That article talks about how Eric Holder intentionally quashed a criminal investigation into JP Morgan's fraud in selling mortgage backed securities. Pretty boring stuff.
And glad to see that the Obamachicken article has been the featured top story for several hours now. Because it's just that important.

Naked Capitalism is doing the story:

letthem, well perhaps I was too harsh on you as I find myself up voting your more recent posts..but step out of line and post stupid R vs D stuff and we are a go.
Which one has a dungeon? I want to play real-life Dungeons & Dragons. I could hire the homeless to play a rabble of Orcs and slay them all with my mightly +4 Long Sword of Vengeance!
Is that gay?

These are not homes. They are trophies and have about as much warmth as the mounted trophies of big game hunters that aodrn the walls of the psychopaths that killed them.
I hasten to add that I am not envious and I have seen some biggish homes in my life but what home can be called a home when it has over 29 rooms or over 600 staff?
Yes. And that 27-floor tower looks like it was designed by Lemony Snickert.
The photo doesn't begin to do justice to its sheer awfulness.
Arrest them and redistribute their wealth into a publicy owned and operated crypto-currency based financial system. No entity shall have more than 10,000,000.
A little excessive for a stabbin cabin.
Can you blow me where the Pampers is?
I don't know how many people are going to get that reference, but I got it. Hat tip to you.
I pity them, sincerely. Look at all of the resources they've wasted on creating shrines to themselves - they have serious mental problems. Ugh.
And this is somehow aspirational?
Listen Zeros. Mukesh Ambani has no shame ;-)
Oh, no. Not you, too with the "listen" thing. Please let that die with it's originator. ;)
I "changed" it before anyone noticed it from what it was ;-)
Not a single Rothschild or Warburg home? Don't every show he world the really rich...ever
They never seem to show up on the 'rich lists' either!
Funny, that.
Anyway, Morlocks live underground.
Not quite so.
You should see the size of their string and puppet factory.
Everyone knows the British Rothschild Estate is Waddesdon:

The employment of large concentrations of capital is always a matter for the chattering classes .
Sometimes it is even beneficial for all .
After 5000 years , the Egyptian pyramids are still bringing in a return .

The guys that built them haven't been benefiting for quite a while, or even, at the time.
I'm talking about the guys that really built them.
You mean the alien overlords?
Complete and utter bullshit.
You know how I'm gonna defeat ISIS, or ISIL, or whatever you call it now?

Those are not homes, they are trophies. they are as cold as the people in them.
Hearst Castle is in Beverly Hills?
Fine. But what idiot wants to live in India?

Yeah yeah... I´m sure XiJinPing, Putin, those morgan and carlyle group banksters and politicians live more moderate, at least officially. But if they change their mind, prepare to bring up that 1 trillion $ loan with -0,5% interestrate.
all done while earning the minimum wage and saving diligently no doubt
