Stocks Spike, Euro Tumbles As Draghi Jawbones Risk Higher Again

Tyler Durden's picture

"The main message is ECB assets are set to expand as others contract," promises ECB's Mario Draghi, adding that "ABS buying is to begin shortly." Shrugging off any rumors of mutiny or lack of sovereign QE, the markets bought every stock market and risky bond with both hands and feet. EURUSD plunged under 1.24 - its lowest since August 2012 as peripheral bond spreads tumbled 10-15bps.  US Treasury yields pushed higher and stocks knee-jerked higher. The USD index is now up 1% on the week.

The shine is coming off as reality hits

  • *DRAGHI SAYS ECB WON'T BUY EU1 TRLN

EUR tumbles sending bond yields and stocks higher... for now

and plunging peripheral bond spreads...

and this is what happened to gold...

What a farce. Germany won't play ball and Draghi is screwed. But the MSM keep giving him the benefit of the doubt. How long can this farce continue, especially with BOJ now buying 100% of JGB's?

how long? as long as it is... profitable. after all, the MSM you mention is not just giving him the benefit of the doubt, it is hearing what it wants to hear

I only disagree with "Germany won't play ball". it's not only Germany. this is another MSM meme, this "Reduction to Germany" or "Reduction to Merkel"

France and Italy are budgeting for a primary surplus. there is no need for QE, in the eurozone. there is no political will for it. it's anyway on the opposite side of the political capital spent for balanced budgets

it's all in the minds of MSM anchors that don't even know which currency Ireland uses, and even ask why

If I had a silver eagle for every time I read that question over the past 5 years I could retire comfortably, even at today's depressed prices.

I remember when, back in the 90's, if the USD moved 0.5% in a day against any other major currency it was considered a major event and possibly the end of the world.

Now..........nuttin to see here, move along.

The term "pilot induced oscillation" or PIO comes to mind at that observation

Where a pilot tries greater and greater stick movements to corrected for ever greater pitch-roll-yaw angles only to result in complete loss of control.

That's where we are now with the world economy thanks to all these fucking brilliant economic pilots instead of allowing the economy to self stabilize

And the only way to get out of a flat spin is to get the nose down..

Trouble is, we've lost all altitude to pull out in time!

Well done Mr. Draghi, keep fucking the poors, or at least promise the rich to fuck them hard! After all, they don't have to deal with riots and hunger while they keep rat racing. And don't forget to butcher the fat poors every now and then so the rich keep getting regular supplies for their banquets.

Until a couple of years ago, stocks, bonds, gold/silver, and oil were all rising.  It is somewhat of a trick to see that now only stocks and bonds are rising.  Eventually, though, as WTI stays below 80%, the correlations will change again and maybe not so good for the stock bulls.

Obamacare Covers Foreign Diplomats - The Daily Beast

Obamacare has a loophole that allows foreign diplomats to receive healthcare subsidies, the House Ways and Means and Foreign Affairs Committees revealed Wednesday as they announced a joint investigation.

“According to the Department of Health and Human Services, foreign diplomats holding ‘A’ or ‘G’ visas are eligible to participate in an array of medical programs administered by the federal government, including participation in Health Insurance Marketplaces governed by the Affordable Care Act (ACA),” wrote chairmen Ed Royce and Dave Camp in a letter to to IRS Commissioner John Koskinen.
