Putin hates the EU

You know it, how?

The gas salesman does not hate one of its best customers. He just wants a bit of respect on the negotiating table.

No, Putin has no interest in doing that either. He just wants to do business.

His interest in the West is purely commercial and kinda harmless as long as you dont bother him.

But he is no Maitreya, as many would expect him to be.

And while Im at it, Ukies are assholes of highest degree.

The neoconservative hegemony is ruthless and is setting the entire globe aflame in unjust wars to make the “world safe for democracy.”

Your argument that it’s “Putin regime goons that are in Ukraine attacking Ukrainians” fits well with the US/Israeli War Party’s Big Lie that Israel doesn’t target civilians in Gaza. Both arguments are shot full of holes as is the neocons’ argument that Vladimir Putin shot down Malaysian Airlines flight MH-17 and therefore is a threat to the entire world and, therefore, there must be regime change in Russia.

If Putin shot down MH17 then, why, asks Global Research’s  Prof Michel Chossudovsky, “following the release of the officials Kiev government’s position concerning the downing of flight MH17, as confirmed by a statement of Ukraine’s Secret Service (SBU), did the Western mainstream media go silent”

Chossudovsky gives the answer today in his article “Desperate MH17 ‘Intelligence’ Spin. Ukraine Secret Service Contends that ‘Pro-Russian Rebels had Targeted a Russian Passenger Plane’. ‘But Shot Down Flight MH17 by Mistake.’”

As for the media’s response: “The SBU report bordered on ridiculous to say the least, with fabricated evidence.

“Media pundits did not want to risk their reputation in supporting Kiev’s official statement.  They chose to remain silent. “

I will conced to your argument one essential point. That is that Russian military forces are directly involved in the DEFENSE of eastern Ukraine.

These expert military men have most likely been put on "indefinite leave" or have been "officially separated" from active military service, so that Russia can claim 'technically speaking' that there are no Russian Army forces operating inside Ukraine. Plausible Deniability is important for diplomatic purpooses.

As a former professional soldier, I admire their work. I don't think that the U.S. Army in my era (Vietnam) was capable of pulling this off to such an effect as these Russians have.

However, the critical point here is that Russia is defending the ethnic Russians in the east of Ukraine. The rioters who trampled on civilian democratic order in Kiev displayed open hostility to the legitimate preferences of the people of the east for a Ukraine that was oriented toward Russia and not toward Germany. If you think that the rioters' overthrow of the legitimate government, elected by a majority of the people in Ukraine,  was justified, then you have to be a moronic fascist or a complete hypocrite  to believe that the refusal of the east to accept that open revolt against an elected government, was not justified or that they should be compelled to obey the fundamentally illegitimate self-appointed leaders of same.

Of course, people who rely on riot and brutal intimidation to get their way cannot be expected to suddenly turn into respectful and reasonable men. So the rioters instigated a Civil War rather than a negotiation. The is why the riot-regime in Kiev responded with violence instead of dialogue.

Your suggestion, that it is the separatists fault that the Ukrainians had to resort to artillery and aerial bombardment of the cities and villages in the east, is absurd. It is the same argument used by the Jews to wipe out swathes of Palestinians trapped in Gaza. How can the wanton destruction, wrought by this overwhelming superiority in numbers and firepower against the civilian population, be expected to win over the people of the East to join the west in a unified Ukraine? It is a testament to the belief in Kiev that the east must be conquered and pillaged by the west.

So under these circumstances, it is impossible to look upon the Russians as invaders.

The brutal regime in Kiev can sustain itself only as long as this war in the east continues, until the US can be cajoled into occupying Ukraine like it did South Korea.

putin has only obvious play here.

keep reminding the west that he has nuclear weapons while he wait YEARS perhaps over a decade for a revolution and war in europe.

once europe descends into the same civil chaos as ukraine , GERMANY will come out directly against the UK in a war for ukraine. the threat of being kicked out of the EU and having sanctions on the UK, from Germany is the only real predictable play he has.

once the war in Ukraine settles----Putin can then focus his energy on the bunker war of Syria. once russia openly and brazenly places her anti-aircraft missile system in syria and gives syria the green light----------the 'civil' war instigated by the west will be more or less over UNTIL the civil war heads back into saudi arabia. a new generation of sunni arabs will then cut a deal with iran and the shia-------AND BEGIN OVERTHROWING SAUDI ARABIA.

THAT IS PUTIN'S 10-15 YEAR PLAN. IT CAN BE HIS ONLY PLAN. ---TO ATTACK THE HEART OF THE PETROLIGARCHY. THE SAUDIS . ONCE THE CORE IS WEAKNED THE QUATARI'S AND GULF STATES WILL IMIDIATELY SWITCH SIDES AND THE EMPEROR WILL BE NAKED.

without gulf state's support the petro-oligarchy will shift east to the chinese and russians. and even to europe. the only strategy for putin is to isolate the u.s. in her ability to dominate. to make the 800 pound gorilla, the full spotlight of the world stage until king kong falls off the empire state building.

so why do other people think i'm wrong----because they think putin can spread revolution in the united states. he cannot.

there's not going to be revolution in the u.s. . the kind of surveillance and ruthlessness in our government is unparralleled world wide. probably in history. the capacity for complex repression of meaningful revolution in the u.s. means the powers that be WILL NOT change their war strategy for grabbing ukranian gas. and more importantlly , they will NOT change their strategy for rolling over syria.

furthermore , putin is not going to start a nuclear war, and it is HIGHLY unlikely the united states would precipitate a nuclear war with a direct first strike attack on russia. that is not the kind of war the u.s. would engage. because it is too obvious .

there is the one in 50 chance the u.s. military leadershiop will desire russia to be blamed for nuking the united states, in which case they might do something, anything, to precipitate that outcome of russia being blamed for a u.s. nuclear attack. but that too is probably unrealistic given the past and current trajectories of resource wars.

there is plenty of oil and gas left in the world. and so long as there is, the fighting by major cartel/nation state oligarchies  will be to control it.

War view of the election from Antiwar.com’s Jason Ditz:

“Hawks Triumph in Senate; Will Push More Aggressive US Policy: Ernst, Cotton Lead Incoming Class of Hawks"

November 05, 2014

The Republicans took control of the Senate in Tuesday’s elections, but much more important than which party took control is the nature of the incoming Senators from the new ruling party.

It’s not an influx of Tea Party members, reluctant to waste US funds on overseas adventures and suspicious of federal power, but rather a series of hawks in the model of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R – SC) that seized the reins of power last night.

The new senators are typified by Jodi Ernst (R – IA) and Tom Cotton (R – AR), who campaigned heavy on escalating the ISIS war in Iraq and Syria, as well as being more hawkish at essentially every opportunity.

Turkey in particular is expressing hope that this new Senate will push the administration toward dramatic escalations of the war, particularly in Syria, where Turkey has been hoping that an outright US invasion will happen and gift them with all the foreign policy goals they had in mind when they started backing Islamist rebels against the Assad government.

The new senators are seen as even more hostile toward Iran as well, and while some are presenting this as a victory for Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu, others in the Israeli press wonder how well Netanyahu will be able to balance the increasing US-Israel split in the new political environment...

The victory of Senate hawks has also put NSA reforms and the CIA torture report in serious doubt, with Senate Intelligence Committee member Mark Udall (D – CO) losing his seat. Udall was one of the most public critics of government surveillance and intelligence community abuses, and the committee’s pending reshuffle with more pro-surveillance, pro-torture figures could spell the end to a push for reform.

“The ones who are insane enough to think that they can rule the world are always the ones who do.”
--Stefan Molyneux

Already, before the voter machines have cooled, the Republican neocon leadership of Mitch McConnell and John Boehner is prepping the nation for more war, pretending that the economy-backlash vote means the American people are in their war camp, that “our priorities…will be your priorities,” as they lay out the Republican agenda for war:

“Our priorities in the 114th Congress will be your priorities. That means addressing head-on…

“A savage global terrorist threat that seeks to wage war on every American…”

If this Boehner/McConnell warmonger leadership is not voted out by the Republican majority in the House and Senate, then Americans have no alternative but to prepare for war at home to oust the one-party DC junta government that is determined to replace American sovereignty with a socialist one-world tryanny.

Congress has always been pro war as long as the war was contained outside the continental US.  The problem is that they are too stupid to recognize that this is not sabre rattling on behalf of Russia, they are really and truly determined to go on a full scale war over NATO expansion right onto their border.

I can see it happening now, an epic bitchslap to NATO and the EU, with congress suddenly realizing that this is the real deal.  Then cue congress representatives on CNBC blabbering about known unknowns and unknown unknowns and how they underestimated the situation and the CIA did not inform them that it would be like that and in the end of the day they missunderestimated Russia, but have no fear the US is preparing a response to this crisis.

Then Obama gives a very stern speech reading from three teleprompters(it will be that serious) blaming Putin for not playing along and not making his intentions clear before hand(WTF???) and the US bears no responsibility for this mess(it was Putin's lack of flexibility that caused it). He will further make it absolutely clear that the US will take serious action if Russia ever steamrolls Europe again, well within reasonable time frame anyway(Note the flexibility).  So there you have it, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. \rant

This has been set up by Putin, but the question is - to what end?

The EUkran army had the advantage and were driving the WUkrain army out.  Putin forces EUK to agree to a ceasefire (without Russia's supplies the EUK army would collapse).  The EUK army's leader declared this to be a betrayal by Putin.  The WUK got to move their forces who were trapped.

Putin then reaches an agreement with WUK to supply gas.  Yes, Putin agrees to supply gas to the enemy and to do so at a discount.  WUK will pay for the gas using US dollars.

Now the WUK army has been provided improved arms and increased intelligence, satelite info., apparently missiles, military advisors and mercenaries by the US/Israel.  The WUK army will much more effective now.

Why does Putin do this?  Is he planning to intervene in a decisive way and wipe out the WUK armies in the east.  Is he finally going to supply the EUK with Russia's latest weapons?  Or - is he using the EUK people as hapless pawns, using them to occupy some of the US/UK/EU attention and resources (at the expense of EUK blood)?    If the later then it is the same as Iraq, Libya, Syria, north Africa - and such a tactic leaves Russia alone in the end.

Everybody seems focused on Putin and how powerful he is and how when he gets pissed the world better watch out. What nobody seems to be thinking about is how solid the command and control systems really are in Russia. Are they strong enough to prevent a small group of high-ranking officers from launching a few missiles on their own? I wonder.

Here on ZH the other day we read about a new sub that was cruising the Baltic with 16 missiles on board EACH with 10 independently targetable warheads. That's just one sub that can vaporize 160 targets. What are the odds that somewhere in the vast Russian military hierarchy there aren't at least a few with access to nuclear triggers who figure - what the hell, let's go for it.

Since its obvious that the US missile command has deep "morale" problems (Generals and Colonels being fired right & left), and suffers on occasion from terminal stupidity (6 cruise missiles with armed nuke warheads flown "by accident" under the wings of a B-52 over half the US), what are the chances that the Russians are just a wee bit shakey too?

An article published on the website of the Arms Control Association, describes a sequence of events that nearly led to nuclear war.

During the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, a U.S. destroyer dropped depth charges to force a nuclear-armed Soviet submarine to surface, even though it was in international waters. The submarine had lost contact with Moscow days earlier and the captain—believing that all-out war had broken out between the U.S. and the Soviet Union—gave the orders to launch a nuke at the U.S. vessel.
But, regulations dictated that the top three commanders had to agree before implementing the order—and one refused. His name was Vasili Arkhipov.

http://www.armscontrol.org/blog/ArmsControlNow/2014-11-03/Apocalypse-Ave...

Sadly, US policy is against nuclear proliferation and first strike nuclear attack for every one except itself and its 'partners' (e.g. Israel. India, and lately even Japan).

The militaristic US is the world's biggest arms dealer and proliferator.

That is true, he has shown great restraint and got things under control in Chechnya but he should have bitch slapped the Kiev junta when he could.

Its just like prolonging the inevitable. How long can he play on back foot while things are falling apart gradually around him. The Russian economy, currency etc. and one day he would be totally helpless.

Aaron Hillel,

Actually by showing weakness and lack of resolve for many years Putin and Russia has allowed this to get closer to a critical point.

Now other countries do not think Putin will actually do anything unless there is a direct attack within Russia's borders.

Even the Russian elite are threatened with arrest if they leave Russia, just one more step in isolating Russian business people.

NATO keeps moving closer to Russias borders.

And Putin sells his gas to WUkrain at a discount.  Putin is destined to be sitting at his little chess table after Russia has been reduced to a survival economy that only has gas/oil income.

You know something big is coming your way when the Zionist State comes clean on a 47 year old story that won't die, or when one of it's courtesan's steps forward and implicates himself to the media that he is behind a coup that has killed as many as 30,000 and counting in a country that borders another nuclear superpower!

Forgot to mention Larry Silverstein stepping forward with a belated Mea Culpa and the circle will be complete. But who needs it when you have all the incriminating evidence against him on what he's already said openly?!!!

Samson alive and well and ready to make his last withdrawal!

I read today that the real reason for the continuing war in East Ukraine, is that the Ashkenazy Jews currently living in Israel have plans to return to their homeland - East Ukraine. Of necessity this will require ethnic cleansing of the region. I can't see Putin allowing this to happen.

This is just another Act in a much larger Play and we are not privy to the script, therefore, speculating the plot is all you can do.

Time will tell, winter and the end of the year are coming...

December should prove to be quite interesting, indeed.

Since March the West has offered Moscow terms if they halted their support of the separatists in Donbas.

Moscow continued its support. The West continued to say if the ceasefire held, they would reduce the sanctions. But Washington instructed Kiev to continue to break the ceasefire enough that sanctions would not be lifted.

Why the sudden change from breaking the ceasefire to 'war'?

I don't think it is so much the election results from Tuesday.  After all, Obama did not cease to be CiC.

What has happened recently is that Russia and Ukraine came to a agreement about Ukraine's debt to Russia and terms for the continuation of the transit of gas to and through Ukraine.

Before the agreement was signed Ukraine and EU were unwilling to tip their aggressive hand and cause a problem with the deal.

The deal being done, the Scum of the West can now reveal their murderous plans.

I like everyone else here have not read the agreement and can not say more.

If I were Putin I would do a false flag sabotage and cripple the gas pumping station at the Ukrainian border to stop the transit of gas this winter until repaired,

Or perhaps damage the one that pumps gas to the northern tier to the European/Nazi Satrapies of Washington.

Here Putin.  Try this on for size.

At 8 o'clock on a freezing December morning, an Ukrainian artillery shell lands on the main gas pumping station to the Ukrainian pipeline.  Killing Russian soldiers, including Major Kije, Captain Kije and Lieutenant Kije. Very sad.

Putin tells Europe and Poroshenko he will not repair the station until the Ukrainian Army pulls back 600 miles from the Russian Border including Crimea.

And that once the withdrawal is complete, Russia will begin repairs on the damaged pumping station.

After the repairs are complete, if the Ukrainian army returns to within 600 miles of the Russian border, including Crimea, that shall be considered an Act of War by Ukraine against Russia and permits Russia an 'Israeli' type response, such as the one we just saw in Gaza that a few countries actually tsk tsked about.

If Poroshenko agrees, Russia will have the right to respond to Ukrainian aggression.

Glad to be of service, Vlad. Any time.

Mustn't forget

Russian signal officers pick up some Ukrainian transmissions claiming a hit was scored on the Russian side of the border --  smoke and flames.

Prompting Ukrainian jubilation and fist bumping.

Caught on tape.

Russia is burning through $40 billion of its currency reserves every month on account of slumping oil prices and a falling ruble (even after failed central bank interventions attempting to prop it up).

That’s half a trillion a year, and Russia only has half a trillion or so.  With any luck, Russia will be forced to sell some or all of its gold, and that will mean gold will go on sale for ordinary Americans - just in time for Christmas!

After that, Russia is free to finance its spending by selling bonds at 9-10% yields, or whatever the market will bear.  If Russia has minimal currency reserves, count on the market demanding much higher risk premiums.

Those who anger the Bear will pay a heavy price indeed!  In 'retaliation', look for Vlad to publish some new Youtube videos showing him dropping his entire Judo club to the mat in a fit of rage and display of machisimo.  Or maybe he'll conduct another round of Moscow apartment bombings and blame it on those 'restive Chechens' again.
