After last week's midterm elections, the revulsion against 6 years of failed Obama policies, if only for the economy not so much for the S&P500, was plain for all to see (and no, Friday's seasonally adjusted jobs report "proving" just how well the economy is doing isn't grounds for a recount). However, little did we know how far anger at Obama has spread, because just when we thought CNN couldn't get any better... it did.
According to the following CNN banner, it wasn't Osama who is the topic of the latest "Who killed Whom" navy seal scandal. It was the president of the US.

Additionally, no one among the crew of the ship from which the White House reported bin Laden was buried at sea saw any such burial, and the sailors sent messages home to that effect. On the heels of the "I shot Obama" clown, thought I'd give some contrast. In 1964, I was 14. I knew my father was in the 82nd Airborne during WWII, because of a picture of him in uniform in our house. One night at dinner I said "Dad, what did you do in the war?" Without looking up from his plate he said "What I had to." I then said, "I mean what did you do?" Now looking at me he replied "That's my last word on the matter. Don't ask me again. Eat your supper."
Last week I lost an Uncle. He was 88. I didn't know, nor did his children that he had enlisted in the Merchant Marines in '42 at 16. He'd dropped out of HS and enlisted so he could "send my mom home a few dollars every month." He never told his children.
So many of that generation died in the War, and many who survived took the memory of sacrifice and noble deeds to the grave with them in a solemn pride of knowing they had walked a straight path and done the right thing.
I'm honered to have had the chance sit among them and learn.
That's an America no person or government can take away from me.
They probably figured that telling you about shooting people in the face and blowing them up would not have a salubrious effect on your childhood or even your adult life for that matter.

While the overall momentum for precious metals this year so far has been negative, we do not believe that this trend or disfavor is sustainable over the longer term. A key data point to consider is the size of the Federal Open Market Committee’s (FOMC) own balance sheet which currently stands at over $4.3 trillion. History of finance has no exact precedent on how a central bank would unwind an asset portfolio of this magnitude without encountering a devaluation of the underlying currency. We also note the size of the U.S. federal government’s debt, which currently stands at approximately $17.8 trillion.
It is our belief that the FOMC will not be in a position to raise interest rates to historic norms of 4.0%-5.0% for many years, because doing so would stifle the government’s ability to refinance short-term maturing debt and also meet existing interest payments on the national debt. The only longer-term path out of this quagmire of debt is to systematically devalue the U.S. dollar, which plays into the hands of gold and all precious metals.

America now stikes me as totally militarized. It just seems most Americans now identify being American with being a member of the world's sole military super power, and general world cop. People draw a lot of self satisfaction from our military and it's many imperial bases and conquests. Sadly, most of this is media hype. I watched a series of two movies that followed Army and Marine occupation forces and their war in Afghanistan. It really showed that the great empire was struggeling to even hold onto fortified mountain bases in the expanse of the country. USA invaded, but has really done nothing to take over and run the nation to our interests. Soldiers die and are crippled for life, just to hold a useless mountain base for another week or month, before leaving and blowing it up. You want what I took away from 4 hours of real life reporting on the military in that war? We LOST! We have NO control. We are just holding on year after year for POLITICAL reasons, as as we hold on, our men die. I failed to see reason or sense in anything these troops were ordered to do over the entire 4 hours of film footage.
Iraq, was much worse than even Afghanistan. Thousands of dead and wounded, and ISIS rules! Wasted trillions.
YET, we Americans, HOLD nobody responsible. We elect the same men who voted to get us into these messes right back into power!

No, mcsean2163, I think that the most important fact was that Obama presided over increasing the total debts more than all previous Presidents, including Bush II. Therefore, Obama is far worse than Bush II was.
The basic problem is that we are inside of social pyramid systems based on legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, and so, those enforced frauds MUST continue to grow at an exponential rate, or else finally collapse into chaos. Therefore, any President is necessarily a figurehead puppet, captured by those systems. As long as those systems stand, then there can be no reasonable doubt that the next President must become another order of magnitude worse than Obama.
In my view, the only way things could get relatively better would be that politicians became relatively more honest about how the actual murder systems operate, but that daydream is too paradoxically impossible to become a greater social reality. The established social systems are already based on the murder systems operating through the maximum possible deceits, while that is aided and abetted by the mass media. Meanwhile, none of the controlled opposition groups are able and willing to admit that there must necessarily be some murder system at the core of real human ecology, and therefore, none of the publicly significant alternatives are actually much better than the established systems.
The deeper paradoxes continue to be science and technology making greater and greater progress within the established systems, in which the combined money/murder systems are based on triumphantly runaway frauds and deceits. By and large, there is only a relatively still fringe recognition of those social facts, while only a tiny fringe of that fringe which addresses the deeper issues why governments necessarily developed as military organizations, operating on the basis of their success based on deceits, which became the foundation of financial systems whose successes were based on frauds.
We could not have better politicians without a series of enough political miracles whereby enough of the citizens changed the ways that they think about politics. The problems are that FIRST there are murder systems based on the maximum possible deceits, backing up the money systems based on the maximum possible frauds, while, SECOND, there must necessarily be some sort of systems whereby money is measurement backed by murder.
Obama was the best available professional liar and immaculate hypocrite available to keep those systems going and growing, and therefore, he did so much more than Bush II did. The deeper problem is that there could not be a better President unless he or she could have a better public, who could both together understand how and why we ended up with social systems based on the maximum possible deceits and frauds, which would require accepting that there must necessarily be some death controls to back up the debt controls.
The rut we are stuck in now is that the established systems operate by being successfully able to continue to promote lies, and back those up with violence, while their controlled opposition groups reveal that somewhat, but then promote the same old-fashioned bullshit "solutions" based on asserting that there should not be any consciously operated death control systems, at the core of all other systems. (In other words, partial revelations of some of the real social facts, followed by impossible ideals proposed and promoted as "solutions," which could never be realized, but only continue to cause the opposite to happen in the real world.)
The essential problem is that there is progress in science and technology, which has run into a dead-end in political science, because the progress in science, so far, can not penetrate through political science, because of the ways that political science was based on the history of warfare, whose successes were based on deceits, and spies, which then enabled a political economy whose successes were based on enforced frauds. The deeper reasons how and why natural selection pressures selected for those kinds of artificial selection systems are not allowed into the realms of significant public debates in the mass media.
Instead, the mass media continue to try their best to brainwash people to believe in the biggest bullies' bullshit view of the world, which includes the ways that the controlled opposition groups which are publicly significant also continue to operate within that frame of reference of bullshit too. The idea that Bush II was worse than Obama is a RIDICULOUS assertion, based on deliberately ignoring the basic social facts about how the sociopolitical systems work.

trader1, I am not aware of any realistic "solutions" within the established systems, while anything outside of that is way too unpredictable!
My own current work is expressed here, through my fringe political party in Canada, attempting to develop the potential of the political tax credit through Electoral District Associations.
A few decades of my attempting to do that has mainly PROVEN, again and again, the degree to which the established systems of lies backed by violence have too successfully reduced the vast majority of people to being Zombie Sheeple. As far as I can tell, after one faces the facts about the real roles of the vicious spirals of money & politics, there are NO "solutions" within those vicious spirals, but only possibly ways that those will spin wildly out of control.
There is not much which is realistically possible, and so, I tend to seek some refuge and relief in a macabre sense of humour, although that too has become worn out by over use. A recent example was this:
