The short term memory of the typical American voter is frightening. They want warmongering King James-thumping Israeli-firster neocons back in the house and senate.
No, this was a wholesale rejection of the Alinsky commies. Also, polls are showing neither Jeb nor Hildebeast has a snowballs chance in hell. Americans are waking up. Help them, don't shower them with derision.
In Red/Blue terms (the only options available to vote for), I think the basic failing is that the Democrat 'brand' is seen by most of those immeshed in that line of thinking to be the party that "takes care of the little guy". By which, I mean giving them shit and protecting them from outside harm of whatever stripe.
The 'Open Borders' policy and the utter fiasco that has been the administration's response to the Ebola outbreak really freaked a lot of those people out. For a brief time they saw through the hype and didn't see themselves being protected. In fact, quite the opposite. They felt EXPERIMENTED ON and used.
I wouldn't go so far as to say they saw the ever-encroaching police state or the outright malice that underlies it- that's still well beyond the grasp of most. They'd be fine with a police state if they thought it was for their protection. But what they saw was a NO PROTECTION state. They caught just the slightest whisp of "I don't think these people care about us as much as they say they do". And they went immediately the other way.
I think you are right on about a lot of people. They didn't reject leftist ideology as much as incompetence in applying it.

Among them were propositions to raise state minimum wages and decriminalize marijuana. PA didn't have any but voters did seem to figure out that gas drillers have to drill where the gas is.
From what I understand the state propositions weren't to decriminalize marijuana but to legalize it. I'm firmly in the camp to decriminalize a plant but not to legalize it for tax and corporate purposes.
It may be a distinction without a difference to the younger crowd but us "old heads" have been fighting this battle for a long time. Its a plant, like corn, I don't need a liscense or permit for a plant or a seed.
As far as drilling, I don't have a problem with it.
The minimum wage bestows too much power on the state. Minimum wage jobs are "minimum wage" for a reason, they are low skilled jobs. People in those jobs should be against illegal immigration not for it.
My opinion.
Yeah, we need energy, fuel, gasoline, natural gas... but they don't employ many people.
Seems like we have too many Chiefs and not enough Indians in this Country...not that many jobs in drilling OR Finance.
