Alibaba Closing In On 6th Largest Company In The US

Tyler Durden's picture

Alibaba is now the 6th largest company of all US-traded entities... and is the biggest non-US-domiciled corporation in the world (having added $80 billion in market cap in the last 3 weeks alone)

Alibaba has exploded past its other mega cap names in the last few weeks... adding $80 billion since Bullard's "QE4" sputtering

And as far as Dotcom 2.0 valuations - we are sure there is nothing to see here, move along!!!

This time is different, of course, because you see.. "they have revenues..."

And worth every penny.

Whenever I buy a lot of 33,880 Chinese LED flashlights, or 80,000 foam pool noodles, or 144,000 glow sticks, which I do once a month like most consumers, I use Alibaba.

Yes, I use Alibaba, too. But it's just a one-time use for every new supplier -- sort of like a search engine for suppliers. After that one-time, I contact the supplier through normal e-mails. When I pay, the money goes directly to the supplier's bank account. Alibaba has no way of knowing what I purchased from the supplier (except if the supplier is a total dumbass publishing my invoice to Alibaba).

In addition, many of those suppliers don't pay a cent for opening an account at Alibaba. Some that do, are perhaps charged just $50/year (Gold Membership). All that revenues? Well, all this time I have always wondered how they derived the figures. With Groupon, at least there is some rudimentary way of deriving a figure how much a consumer spends, flawed and a bit scammy as they are. This one? Perhaps they derive it straight from China GDP, or Chinese export figures -- which are absolutely, highly reliable.

If other sites like this (Made-in-China.com, Globalmarket.com, etc) also go on IPO, they will collectively reach $1 trillion market cap. Right...those are more than 2 Exxon's and 5 Walmarts.

I see today on Market Watch that GE is going to self "up to", (bet on the whole thing), $20Billion of Stock direct to the public; co-incidentally they had a lead headline that GE's stock was rising ahead of the Indexes, and this indicates that the Stock Market in general will "catch up".  I guess that's why they call this a "sell side" website. Boy what a load of crap. Obama's favorite Corporation that doesn't pay any income tax managed to make a profit; isn't that special ? The 3% dividend should reel in the suckers like chum in the water; until it's discovered, some time next year, that they can't actually afford to pay any dividends. IPO madness rages on; indicating as always; that insiders and well-informed professionals know damn well this is as high as prices are going to get. Can't wait to see the hang-over from this party.

Not only do they have mucho competition, they've already been oudone by others. See my post below for a list of just a few of their competitors for an idea of how many Chinese sites there really are that are identical to Ali. They don't do anything that hasn't already been done, and I think any numbers coming from them about their revenue should be looked at VERY closely. This stock screams "Scam!"

No, I've never ordered anything from them and I don't know anyone who has. Once or twice, I ordered from DX (DealExtreme) which is virtually identical to Ali in every way. The quality of the products was beyond poor. There are multiple sites out there that look the same as Alibaba and DX, take a look at these and tell me why Ali should be trading at prices like this, when there are many others doing the exact same thing for the same price or lower?

www.dx.com www.actfind.com www.bestofferbuy.com www.budgetgadgets.com www.tradetang.com www.chinabuye.com www.chinagrabber.com www.chinavasion.com www.focalprice.com www.chinawholesaleonline.org www.lightake.com www.lightinthebox.com www.pickegg.com www.priceangels.com www.tinydeal.com www.tomtop.com

www.totodeal.com www.tradestead.com www.dhgate.com

The list goes on and on. With so many competitors doing the exact same thing - many of these sites look virtually alike, if you notice, why is Alibaba so special? Their site is a mess and very non-user-friendly. What a joke.

Veterans Day Empire Education

…new same as the old, with another dress.

We have reached the point where the critters can only employ probability and computer diagnostics, in a closed system, where everything affects everything and combinations escape even the cloud, an Internet social media derivative, chasing its own tail to confirm the status quo. “This is not another bubble!”

If you want the hassle of being the top 1%, creating economic mobility for the majority, while it tries to put an ax in the back of your head, you must be able to troubleshoot intermittent failure, which, if you paid attention, I told you how to do.

Most kids just want a derivative version of the problemsolution, technology. Labor is looking for kids seeking life, and they are easy to spot. Recessions are about applying increasing pressure down the credit gradient to create income inequality, raising the disposable income bubble, until your own throws you under the bus.

But closed systems are only closed by false assumptions. Test the crap, especially the false assumptions about how it works, before the crap stops working. You can always replace the control with a switch. How did the critters alter Archimedes Screw to create artificial scarcity?

The majority wants the privileges of marriage without the responsibilities, increasing return on decreasing risk. Civil Law is all about assigning you the responsibility, with none of the privilege, feeding the insurance ponzi with natural resource exploitation, until it can’t.

Once upon a time, the bankers were on the bottom floor, and the poor walked to the top. All technology is about building the global city, employing gravity. Keep your head, while all others lose theirs. Beware positive feedback; turn it on its head.

The politicians slice and dice, employing each other as scapegoats, until all that remains is in the hands of fascists, which isn’t much. There is no such thing as traditional marriage, and all civil contracts are made to be broken, with a duration mismatch. Plot your own course.

Social skills are productive, but worth no more than 10% of your time. Life is about living in your own time. Marriage is about finding time with your spouse, in an empire frightened by change. Empire, behind in time, is designed to rotate you behind it, to maintain the status quo, with your work back to the front.

As you can plainly see, the ‘banksters’ are just the terminal part of the bait and swap, building up a head of steam to justify fascism. The majority is coming after you, the thinking individual, because private marriage is the only relationship capable of quantum advance. For labor, the choice is simple. Seek one that is grateful, and increase distance from others.

Pay your spouse, your children, your extended family, your business partner, and the FILO Bankruptcy Queue, with your time, in that order. Empire jobs are just noise, heading in the opposite direction, all hoping you will pay for them before your own, accepting money, time chasing its own tail, to compound interest.

Why do you suppose Wall Street calls the electoral college The Bank?

Now, I have other things to do, like listen to my wife tell me how beautiful and wonderfully made people really are, fix her automatic crap, and watch her  walk blindly in and out of traps, set for me, because that’s what you do for your spouse, expecting the passive aggressives to attack your children.

Meanwhile, I’ll pretend that I am trapped in an elevator, in the basement, by the evil empire, and we end where we began; fire the upper middle class gatekeepers, or be about your business, until you have the habits to do both.

Funny, the skills you acquire in war make you the enemy, and I entered MCRD when I was nine. The tip of the spear is when and where you choose to be, and Government is nothing, to fear. Admiralty is not admiral if it cannot mobilize labor.

Got an email from these jokers today (AliExpress). For the so called "11/11" sale (a big deal, like BF in China, I guess) they listed in the email several tablets on sale.

One was a "Teclast x80h Tablet PC" for 93% OFF!

US $9.11 / piece (that's not a typo, btw) Save US $130.88 / piece ----  (Specs: Windows 8.1 Tablet PC Intel Z3735F Quad Core 1280X800 IPS Screen 2GB/32GB micro HDMI) ---- So, I clicked on the link to see what the deal was, since it is such an unbelievable deal. Yeah, just as I thought - it's $139.99 and NOT on sale at all! There were a total of SIX tablets and phones in this email, and not a single one of them was anywhere near the price shown in the email. Do these guys think people are this stupid? On top of that, read their page on "buyer protection". Good luck getting your money back from the sellers on there, this isn't PayPal. At least on Fleabay and using PP you will get your money back if you're ripped off. This place? Not so much. Like my user name implies, these guys are SCAM_MERS and I wouldn't order anything from them, ever. At least with DX (DealExtreme) they have a US based site as well as China and you get your product quicker. Ali is slimy and it's only a matter of time before this MoMo gets killed. I wouldn't short them just yet, though, there's still time for it to run away (like Camera-on-a-stick) before the smart money gets out. Screw Alibaba (and the horse they rode in on).
