Europe is closing... the American stock trader is on his own now with no bond market police to manage the mania...

And then this happened...

Here in Canada pennies have been taken out of circulation. All coins including loonies and toonies are now steel coins coated in who knows what. All notes are now plastic. We are ready for full currency devalution.

We're on our way south, from Alaska to WA, camping in BC... it always surprises me when I put my hand in my pocket for some change and pull out close to $10. The plastic notes take some getting used to...

They are thin plastic, kinda like wax paper.

So they roll up really well and I assume they do not get contaminated with various powders as easily as paper linen.

I have a coin from Somalia...no idea what it's made out of I think it's hollowd out hard plastic. It's as light as air...

Been hearing rumors they put RFID chips in the new US $100 notes with the cartoon colors and big Benny face....you know, to better track our cash...wonder how long before police have scanners to read for them? If they don't already?

People who buy gold as an "investment" are in fact idiots, but this is nothing new slaughterer.  Fuck, give us some information we can trade.

Let's hope you are right and gold sees $500 and silver goes back under $12.  Hopefully, one can still take delivery at those prices.

I won't bother to down-vote you, but I will take the opportunity to laugh at your correct call of a mischaracterization (which equals a strawman) of what gold is.

Gold is insurance where you get to keep the premium. Anybody who thinks it is an investment, is using the wrong standard of measurement (dollars), and doesn't understand the difference between different types of money.

So, sure, you've slayed that strawman, but look like a fool in doing so.

Honestly, I thought you'd been around here long enough to know better.

The difficult part will be spending that fiat fast enough.

Agree, as long as the fiat-printing whores have any credibility, they will manipulate the PMs lower.  When the tipping point is reached, gold's gonna SCREAM higher.  Til then, holders better pray for water on their Bataan Death March.

That's very astute. I'm assuming you spoke tongue-in-cheek, of course, but if the average financial reporter or CEO could show even that degree of critical thinking, such market absurdity as we have come to know today might have withered under criticism long ago.

I assume the ISIS has melted down that Gold from the Irag bank in Mosul and shipped it somewhere to have Gold coins minted.

It will be just a matter of time before they are traded on the SGE....

Or the Gold was shipped to Switizerland where it will be melted down into Gold blanks and some of that Gold will stay in the Swiss Treasury pending outcome of the Gold voting event later on this November.

Happy Veterans Day to all Veterans pass and present....

"and shipped it somewhere"

Really?  Wouldn't that assume trust and normalcy?  I didn't know those human slaughterers had either of those - unless it's happening through their CIA handlers...perhaps history will inform us, perhaps it won't.  Perhaps Obola pounded his fist down in one of the NSA meetings, after the failed Syria campaign, and just said, 'do what you need to do, to get me Assad's head' - and so someone(s) did.  Perhaps they're the Ollie North's of the Obama era...loyal til the end, no matter what the cost (Machiavelli.)

It's about 12:10 PM Eastern Time as I write this, and WTI is trading at $76.65. The absolute minimum breakeven price for frackers has been quoted by people in the industry on this very board to be about $75. It looks like big trouble ahead for the fracking boom.

Tue, 11/11/2014 - 13:28 | 5436934 thamnosma
thamnosma's picture

Ah, the fracking miracle goes belly up.  Glad to have the extra oil but in reality the fracking boom, like all booms, is doomed to bust.  It's not a long-term play.  In time, North Dakota's landscape will be littered with rusting rigs and delapidated trailer parks.  Of course, those might make good FEMA camps where real undesirables get to enjoy those winters.
