And The 10th Most Prosperous Nation In The World Is...

Tyler Durden's picture

USA! USA! USA!

(click image for massive legible version)

Despite all the bravado from political leaders and the record high stock prices - which prove how clean America's dirty short is - The Legatum Institute finds the United States is just the 10th most prosperous nation in the world... after Holland, Canada, New Zealand, and Denmark to name a few.

Still, could be worse... could be 11th, like Iceland...

(click image for massive legible version)

What is perhaps even more stunning is that America places 31st in the world for 'Safety & Security' and just 21st for 'Personal Freedom'... which all seems a little odd for the Land of The Free.

Friday night...Flounder is at a Shabbat dinner.

Eating Dag (dahg; fish) on Shabbat is also a traditional practice. One of the reasons for this custom is connected to the Gematria (geh-mah-tree-ah; numerology) of the fish. In Gematria, each Hebrew letter is assigned a numerical value. And the numerical values of the letters in the Hebrew word for fish total seven. And Shabbat is the seventh day of the week!

I did not know that.

I wonder what the the numerical values of the letters in the Hebrew word for apartheid total?

The cops ARE a traffic hazard.  Obviously they don't care about officer safety, so they should lose the ability to cite that as the reason they do most of their killing.

Most states now have ridiculous laws about changing lanes or slowing down for a cop with someone pulled over along the road.  Mobile traffic hazards, people swerving and jamming on the goddamned brakes so they don't themselves get robbed.  Officer safety my ass.  Since when is tying up traffic walking back and forth across a busy street the act of someone who cares about safety?

All of our basic freedoms where compromised the day we walked into kindergarten.

Schools are effectively prisons. Some how they get worse and worse as the decades roll along.

I was looking at the slop that kids were tweeting on the DrudgeReport with #ThanksMichelleObama...  prison commissary has better quality than what America is feeding its schoolchildren!

Gang violence, drugs, fights, bullying, all of this crap just to get a card that has letter grades on it.  Totally useless for the working world.  Your lender doesn't care what your GPA was, he wants your financial statement.  Your interviewer doesn't care that you got a D in 8th Grade Algebra, he is interested in how much experience you have and who your references are. The public utility doesn't care that you got a C in high school physics, they want a deposit.  Your clients or customers don't care that you got an F in Intro to Business class back in senior year because the teacher's lectures were beyond boring and the cute brunette (who is now your wife) took all of your attention away.  All your clients or customers want is a quality product and/or service.  Never once will they quiz you about your grades or demand a transcript.

School sucking is what made me become libertarian with heavy anarchist leanings.

The business world is 180 degrees from what teachers and counselors depict it.  All of the tests and lectures and authoritarian disciplinary rules offer ZERO marketable skills to succeed out there.

All of these lefties whine about how its "child abuse" for parents to homeschool their own children and teach them the Bible. No, child abuse is putting your child in these prisons for a 12 year sentence.

They'll get exposed to gangs and drugs and bullies in the schools, but not financial education which really separates the winners from the losers.

Clearly we're not killing enough people yet, so killing more will make us "safer".

Conservative estimates (depending on whom is providing the stats of course) have it that the U.S. has killed more than 30 million people since the end of WWII and the start of the Korean War to the present...

Someone please raise their hands and tell me "why" half the number of human beings that perished between 1941 and 1945 isn't cause for putting us in last place for "Safety and Security"!  I know Israel as our "mini me" is a close second, but if you factor in our dealing(s) with the indigenous Americans it's tough not to get the trophy for this in the "Executive washroom"!!

As I've said many times before.   I would never count the number of homicides inside the U.S. whether it's promoted by the Federal Government on it's own or other is nothing less than a positive start for the rest of the World and humanity!

My only hope is that Ferguson lights the fuse and that we will all end up killing each other in an orgy of death which will leave everybody else outside our borders untouched and intact!

Indeed, what is the most important "freedom" and why?  The right to bear arms, of course, since all the other "freedoms" cannot exist without it!  Is their anything more fundamental than the right define oneself?  And what is the only country to guarantee this right in their constitution?   How many Norweigans own guns?

So, we are #1 in freedom still.  But we may have to defend this position and we're the only country fully armed and thus capable of defending ourselves.  This is why the #1 concern of the progressive elites is gun control.  Thank goodness for the current congressional makeup in this regard.

Yeah John, we have more gun rights than most countries, but we don't have the right to bear arms.

We have the right to own arms, as long as we haven't been deemed a felon, or unstable, or a bad dresser.

We lost the right to bear those arms long, long ago.

Just try to strap on a blackhawk and swagger on down to the Costco for a little shopping.

You will cause a sheep to pee her pants, and out comes the pig-whistle cell phone. You will be quickly beaten, stomped, tazed, shot 14 times and jailed before you get three blocks from your house.

Then you won't have the right to own a firearm anymore.

We have very limited gun rights. Let's not fool ourselves.

Mostly Scandinavian Socialist Paradise.

You will soon be sodomized by MoonGodslum immigrants.

As far as safety and security, I'll take care of my own.

Remove our urban jungles and the USofA is pretty darn safe.

Hey, where are the Jew haters on ZH now? Israel only ranks 38. Possible because their security and personal freedom is low but even with better conditions there they would rank below Iceland and Ireland. I thought that the Jews and Israel ruled the world? Or at least that is what the Jew hating folk here on ZH say.

Go ahead, down vote me.

Soon the ashkeNazis in the Unholy Land will be singing "Israel, israel ueber Alles, ueber alles in der Welt". They will continue demonizing their muslim neighbours, putting them behind walls in concentration camps, ethnically cleansing others, making them flee from surrounding countries and ever-expanding the zionists' Lebensraum. All this while trying to promote racial (tribal) purity and claiming divine guidance and historical rightousness.

What grabbed my attention from thses charts is the fact that Russia is less prosperous than the Philippines, Colombia, Mexico, Ukraine or Sri Lanka.

For a county with such extraordinary natural resources, that's almost beyond belief.

How can it possibly afford a world-class military? The Philippines can't even afford a coast guard vessesl unless the Americans or Japanese give them an old one for a pittance that was otherwise headed for the scrapyard.

Quick BS check on some key indicators.

US #1 in health?  Bullshit.  #1 in health spending per capita but far behind in key indicators such as maternal and infant death rates, life expectancy and rates of chronic diseases.  And radical regional disparities in outcomes, with some rural counties (no, not just majority black and hispanic ones) and some urban neighborhoods underperforming Haiti.

The rest can be presumed to be propaganda, not worth polutiong one's mind with.
