Putin Arrives At G-20 Meeting Escorted By 4 Warships; Sent Clear 'Message' By World Leaders
Having been 'guest-of-honor' at the APEC Summit the previous week, it appears Russian President Vladimir Putin is getting the 'Obama-at-APEC' treatment at the G-20 meeting in Brisbane. Following his 'odd' shaped convoy of protection last week, The Independent reports Putin chose a different type of entourage this week as he headed to meet the world's leaders. Putin has stationed four warships close to Australian waters as he arrived in Australia. Having drawn ridicule from no lesser wit than Britain's David Cameron who sarcastically bleeted, "I didn't feel it necessary to bring a warship myself to keep myself safe at this G20, and I’m sure that Putin won’t be in any danger," when it came time for the team photo, it was clear what 'message' was being sent...
Australia says it is monitoring four Russian naval vessels that are approaching its waters to the north of the country.
The Australian Defence Force said two frigates and a surveillance aircraft had been sent to track the warships.
In a statement, it said the Russian vessels were heading towards Australia but remained in international waters.
Analysts say it is a show of force by Russian President Vladimir Putin ahead of the G20 summit in Brisbane.
"The movement of these vessels is entirely consistent with provisions under international law for military vessels to exercise freedom of navigation in international waters," the ADF statement read.
The ADF said Russian naval vessels have previously been deployed in conjunction with major international summits, including the Apec summit in Singapore in 2009.
"A warship from Russia's Pacific fleet also accompanied former Russian president Medvedev's visit to San Francisco in 2010," the statement added.
And then there's David Cameron's quip:
“I didn’t feel it necessary to bring a warship myself to keep myself safe at this G20, and I’m sure that Putin won’t be in any danger,” he said last night.
And a clear message sent via the team photo:
This week's G-20 Meeting... Obama front-and-center between China's Xi and Brazil's Rousseff, just in front of Britain's Cameron with Putin almost out of shot
Has the world's diplomatic stability really deteriorated to 8-year-old playground antics? (or has it in fact always been there) Stand next to me! No, stand next to me!
* * *
And finally, there's this... Spot the difference
Is it us or does that Koala look like it's trying to get away?

Good point.
Being alone hited by everyone is the best way to find a decent girlfriend so Putin should not be worried..
A little short of tact, but I like his style. Still, his publicist should be taken out and shot for such a faux pas to be broadcast to the West. This sort of thing plays into their hands and just goes to show you how expensive an ego is, and Putin is going to pay for this one. That's the problem with world leaders that are in their 50's. Sure, they might have the energy to go the full day, but not the experience and mettle to get through to tomorrow. Leave that to Xi Jiping, there's a guy who hasn't gotten out of a chair for most of his life, other than to get something to eat, talk, call, go to bed, or get up to go to the can. Fat gut, flat ass and a big thumb. Now there's a guy whose going places. What a World... go figure. You really want to change it??? So do I, try electanewcongress.com; scienceofliberty.us; electfawell.com They all carry the same message of how to actually reform America to Liberty. Now that is amazing stuff. Serfs Up America!
Political Grandstanding all around. Personally, those are nice looking ships Putin has. Obama/Cameron are just jelous because neither could "afford" a naval escort.
It's funny trying to watch the Teletubby PM elevate himself to the level of Putin. Cameron is not the Head of State of a major world power. He serves at the pleasure and whim of the Queen, and if she wakes up with a weird ass itch tomorrow... he can dismissed as the hired help he is, not so with the Russian Head of State.
It's also funny that the three ass clowns (English, Canadian, Australian) playing the most juvenile games unbecoming of world leaders supposedly in search of "Peace" are all puppets of the English Queen. Particularly since at least Otto von Bismarck (and more accurately several Eurasian wars that almost no one in the USSA has heard of, much less studied) it is been the English that have doggedly pursued the strategic imperative of keeping the "European" continent divided from Russia.
The only good members of the House of Windsor (aka the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha) are DEAD Windsors.
Where's Oliver Cromwell when the English people need him most?
:-)
Seriously, no British PM can be dismissed at the whim of the sovereign. That has been established long, long ago. Parliament is supreme. Whoever its majority selects as leader has to be recognised as PM and if the sovereign attempted to choose otherwise it would create a constitutional crisis that destroyed the monarchy, which is a constitutional monarchy not an absolute monarchy.
It's the same in Australia and Canada, except in those cases the Queen has no direct involvement. The effective role of head of state is played by the Governor General, a national of that country appointed in the name of the Queen, but actually decided upon by the respective government.
Sorry I haven't lived in London since 2006- when the Queen most certainly could dissolve Parliament. I wasn't aware of the Act that she granted Royal Assent to in 2011. If you think 2011 was "long, long ago", then you have larger problems to worry about.
As to the lack of direct involvement in the Commonwealth's matters, you should dig up Gough Whitlam and ask him whose bitch Kerr was...
Kerr was a CIA bitch far more so than the queen's bitch.
Politicians are hired to lie on our behalf in a dangerous world .
Democracy is but their training ground .
A politician's only sin is being found out .
Putin should have told Cameron that he is just trying to join in the fun of spreading democracy at the point of a gun.
Barry strutting and chewing gum, a real class act.
QUOTE, CAMERON: "I didn't feel it necessary to bring a warship myself". That's because we only have one warship and It's fully booked, one week Gibraltar one week Syiran coast one week Falkland Islands, repeat...../sarc
Sadly. near as dammit true. And Cameron bleats about top-five defence spend, which shows how thread-bare others must be .
G-20

Tony Abbott planned to greet the Russian fleet with a F22 Raptor air display but unfortunately could not find one that was airworthy. /sarc
What David Cameron doesn't recognize is that Putin is always carying a briefcase with a big red button within. And this case must always be connected through an encoded secure connection with a powerful retransmitter on a nearby plane or a ship from which the signal is sent to a command center in Russia. And the connection is better to be doubled or triplled to ensure maximim reliability. Otherwise being absolutely safe around Putin it will be hard for Cameron to find the UK in the waters between France and Ireland when he takes the flight back home.
The "easy' button?

Translation of the message sent by the ships' presence:
"Go ahead, shoot Putin's plane down. We dare you."
An American, not US subject.
This group photo tells much about Australia's view of the world and the pecking order it assigns to the members of the G20.
As host, Australia is front and center. But immediately to his right -first place of honor among guests- is Japan. That is a surprise to me. China is immediately to his left. So Japan and China are held in higher regard than USA.
Then Germany and France stand off to his right beyond Japan, while the USA is next to China and then comes Brazill.
Behind Australia stands Indonesia, geographically the nation closet to Australia, but regarded as subordinate. But -what's this?- Britain stands to the left of Indonesia and behind China! Mother England! Imagine that! Then India -barely visible over the shoulder of USA- is next on the left of UK. Canada and South Korea stand behind Germany and Japan. Telling!
At the other end of the spectrum from Russia is Turkey. (I guess the Aussies haven't gotten over Gallipoli.) But Turkey is nudged up close to Saudia Arabia: the only other Moslem country in the G20. Notice the gap between Brazil and Saudi Arabia. That gap is greater than any other among the nations except, of course, the gap between Russia and South Africa (the only predominantly black country among the G20). Very telling!
Russia didn't have to stand that far away from the rest. He chose to. He looked like he couldn't stand being with the rest. It turns out he left immediately after this group photo was taken.
There you are! Australia's preferences among nations in full display!
You don't know much about the australian economy do you? It absolutely makes sense why they would want japan and china right next to them - thats where the bulk of Aus exports go!
You are right about China. Not so much about Japan. But Japan does account for a sizeable portion of agricultural products from Australia. Still, based upon your observation, China should have been on Australia's immediate right. And based upon the US-Japan relationship and the antipathy of Japan towards China, Japan should have been next to USA.
Strategically, it would have made the most sense for China to be on one side of Australia and America on the other side. It is noteworthy that they are not. Separately, in the Financial Times, it was reported that Australia agreed to closer ties with the USA and Japan. More to wonder at the arrangement in this photo.
Honestly, as Brazilian President Dilma did not like the side of Obama.

"Mother England" - are you a Tull fan?
The placement of people near the Australian PM is certainly telling, but you are reading too much into the placement of Turkey. Australia never had any resentment against Turkey over Gallipoli. In fact the Turks were respected by our troops who fought them at Gallipoli and Australian history has never been unkind to the Turks who beat our troops at Gallipoli. The Australians (and New Zealanders) were there because that's where the Brits sent them, and Gallipoli (which involved Brits and other British Empire troops) came to be recognised as a military blunder by those who instigated the invasion.
However, Turkey is not important to modern Australia. It is not a major trading partner, it is not a major influence in our part of the world, it is not a major source of immigrants, there are no significant cultural links. In fact the same can be said of Russia. The positioning of Japan, China, and Indonesia relative to European leaders and Obama is meaningful. Certainly 20 years ago a comparable meeting in Australia would not have had that placement.
Furthermore, the American and Russian Presidents both have the power to authorize and initiate a nuclear attack in a matter of a few seconds. They are constantly accompanied by a military officer who carries a ‘nuclear briefcase’, a special communication device that allows either President to almost instantly order the launch of their nuclear forces. This launch order requires only a few minutes to carry out, because the U.S. and Russia still keep more than 800 ballistic missiles armed with at least 1739 strategic nuclear warheads at high-alert, always ready to fire.
These warheads are each 7 to 85 times more powerful than the atomic bomb which destroyed Hiroshima. They sit atop launch-ready Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) that are located in deep underground silos or upon road mobile rocket launchers or upon Submarine Launched Ballistic Missiles (SLBMs) inside nuclear submarines; all are controlled by launch crews who patiently wait 24/7 to execute a valid launch order. Launch-ready nuclear forces are linked to the U.S. and Russian Presidents by their respective nuclear command and control systems, which include ground and space-based Early Warning Systems that detect a hostile missile attack. Any tactical warning is quickly evaluated, and once validated it is passed up the chain of command in a matter of a few minutes. These high-speed information networks are designed to provide each President the capability to order the launch of his nuclear forces before they can be destroyed by an incoming nuclear attack.
However, this is hardly a simple task, because the nominal flight time of a ballistic missile traveling between the U.S. and Russia is about 30 minutes; it is 12 minutes for a missile launched by a submarine stationed off the coast. These short flight times define and dictate how much “Presidential decision-making time” is available for the President to decide whether or not to launch a nuclear strike in response to the perceived attack.
The decision to either launch a responsive nuclear counter strike, or ride out the attack, must be made in less time than it takes for the (perceived) incoming ICBM/SLBM attack to arrive. Otherwise the incoming warheads will likely destroy most of the ground-based forces, along with the nuclear command and control system (and leadership) necessary to coordinate and launch a nuclear counterstrike – assuming the attack is real. A launch in response to a false warning will result in accidental nuclear war.
Thus the entire process of detecting and evaluating the attack warning must be completed in less than 7 minutes. According to retired military officers, the President is then given a 30 second briefing. If the attack warning is still believed to be real, the president is then given a series of options, all ofwhich have been planned well in advance.
If the attack is believed to come from a submarine, the President will be told that he then has as little as 10 seconds to make the decision whether or not to launch a responsive nuclear attack. This is because the nuclear warheads delivered by a SLBM will arrive in slightly more than four more minutes. The order to launch must be immediately conveyed to launch crews sitting in underground bunkers, who control the missiles. The missiles must then be fired and clear the upper atmosphere before the incoming warheads began to detonate.
For 30 years the U.S. and the Soviet Union have relied upon highly automated nuclear command and control systems, which work in conjunction with a network of early warning systems and their nuclear armed ballistic missiles. The possession of this complex integrated network of satellites, radars, computers, underground missile silos, fleets of submarines and bombers, and military intelligence give both nations the capability and option to launch strategic missiles upon tactical warning of attack.

Yes, and having 4 nuclear capable warships nearby makes sure that everyone knows that an assassination of Putin would seal everyone's death warrant at the summit.
:-)
You forgot that the warheads Putin were much closer to those ships.
Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!
The MSM has played the Russian warship advancing towards Australia shamelessly, I have had people at work asking me fearfully and in all seriousness, 'is Russia going to attack / invade Australia'
I go on about the US population, but wow! we have our own collection of retards down under as well.
It's a very big collection too. "Everyone" here "knows Putin Did It!" - pity no-one is able to provide real evidence (although for the population of Dumbfuckistan, "The Australian" or "Sydney Morning Herald" seem to be regarded as the pinnacle of "Journalistic integrity" - just as long as they toe the Party line . . . . . .
We don't have the same concern when US navy ships enter the Black Sea.
No problem with the Ships.
They're probably looking for a Port Call to hang out at the Beach, while it snows back in their Home Ports.
When I was on my Ship, there was a Sailor who married an Aussie; and we heard how the cost of living, etc., was nice over there. We ALL wanted to go to AUS for a Port Call and/or Wife Hunting/Real Estate Shopping, etc.. They did so AFTER I LEFT - Son of a Gun...
Cameron must be the lamest, drabbest politician around.
“I didn’t feel it necessary to bring a warship myself to keep myself safe at this G20.”
He thinks he's witty, himself. A barrel of laughs.
Pathetic moron.
The only ones that are even worse are those who vote this kind of buffoon in.
"..I didn’t feel it necessary to bring a warship myself.."
Clear! A warship cannot carry the necessary load of toilet paper and pampers to cover Cameron's needs.
Cause we don't have any left
The Koala must be a democrat then...
Well, they have a reputation for pissing on people.
I'd love to be able to find more force in Camerons mirth, if only he and his predecessors hadn't ripped the arse out of our military capability. The Royal Navy now has only 26 front line ships. Putin makes the point that he actually can do this.
Behind the bon-mots, I don't suppose it's gone unnoticed. Just don't expect rational behaviour by the West - they've got the head of Nato now crying his eyes out about Russia flying it's planes in international airspace without (in effect) asking permission. Difficult to test defences if you've told the otherside you'll be there. and I doubt the US ask permission if it decides to drone someone, or conduct surveiilance. The Nato bleat, taken at face value, would also suggest the Russians can fly around, doing whateverr, and we can't see them. Hmm.
Anybody checked out Statfor to see where our stuff is?
VIVA PUTIN
imagine being stoned and then someone gives you a koala to play with.
Borscht, Federico, Tilburg!
CNN shows some footage during the photo opertunety setup.
Look at Putin looking aound and the smurk on his face.
Great.
Pooty Pooooooooooooot... hurr durr
Strange being koala Strange being human.
Russia has said it will not demand that Kiev make an early repayment of Eurobonds in the amount of $3 billion in a bid to help Ukraine to restore its financial system, Russian President Vladimir Putin said. The Ministry of Finance "extended a $3 billion loan a year ago, there was a condition that if Ukraine’s total debt exceeded 60 percent of GDP", stressing that in such circumstances Russia "would be entitled to demand an early repayment. "Again, if we do it, the whole financial system will collapse," Putin stressed.
But for how much longer? If Ukraine can't pay the loan does that mean Russia could asset strip their pipelines? Now that would really piss the West off. Oh I do hope so.
33 dignitaries (and I use the term loosely) in the G20 pic.
I bet if you could check their DNA you'd find they're all related and possibly human.
If you look back at past g20 groupo photos, everyone is pretty much in the same place, unless they are hosting it. Russia is often on the end of the front row.
Although why theres 33 people in a g20 photo i am not sure
33 Fags er Flags too. Must be some crashers.
The EU gets to attend the G20, which is typical European doubling up, given that the relevant European countries are also there. Don't know the others.
Funny the G20 logo looks like ebola?
Or unfolded Chase Bamk logo.
Putin didn't load his navy up with lazy filipinos.
If we ever had an election here... Putin vs BathHouse Barry Obunga... we all better learn to like blinis.

He has that Holy phreakin' Mother of God how am I gonna feed the young-uns now expression because the Kenyan just explained that KoalaCare has a $10,000 annual deductable and a $150 hut visit co-pay.
The Koala's face tells you all you need to know about "Obamacare" ;-)
All like water off a ducks back to Putin, in the photo it looks like he intentionally increased his distance from the group. As time goes by Putin continues to rack up more points in the Ukraine as the conflict drags on. Things appear to have quieted down to many as the eyes of the world have moved to more pressing issues, but the war continues and Putin is playing the long game by grinding away at the resolve of both bankrupt Kiev and the EU.
A recently signed deal for gas supplies to Ukraine was a sign of hope to many, but it only highlights the devil of any agreement is in the details. The Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said any resumed supplies could be halted again on Jan. 1 if Ukraine doesn’t pay $3.1 billion in debt prepay for future deliveries. It appears this deal is tenuous and the guarantees of it being fulfilled are weak. Don't hold your breath for Putin to back-off or back-down, he has put down his marker and is now playing both Obama and Kerry for fools in a contest that may cost Russia little. If Putin doesn't get his way next week he will next month or next year at the latest. The article below delves into why this conflict won't be over until Putin says its over.

And then there's this, has it been mentioned in Western media.

@ …no lesser wit than Britain's David Cameron who sarcastically bleeted, "I didn't feel it necessary to bring a warship myself to keep myself safe at this G20, and I’m sure that Putin won’t be in any danger" …
The interesting part is that Cameron would say such a thing but incredibly disgusting that he might think it. I mean, you’re going to make a comment about the warships? Why would you then be such a complete zero as to say that? First there’s childish, and then there’s superchildish…
Cameron is puerile public school boy. He is a misogynist and known as 'Flashman'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Flashman
i have developed a horrible prejudice. i look at apec and see putin and xi surrounded by a sea of hot women. i look at the g20 and see obambam, camaroon and mother merkel surrounded by little fem bois and leather and whips.
i want the hot women. i am with russia.
for all you nazifeminists out there note the number of women in the apec gathering of "backward" nations and all the women in the first world power structure. those savages need lessons in the modern woman.
Hey - leave us Koala out of it. We're vicious bastards, really!
Since when did a tug and a supply ship constitute warships ? The histrionics of Cameron show why Britain should relinquish nuclear weapons
Since they have nuclear warheads in their basements!
hehe.
Now I understand why the French did not deliver the Mistral to Russia, it would be a shame to have a Russian Mistral coast of Australia!
Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!
After the attempt to poison Putin at the last G8 meeting in Northern Ireland, he brought the navy ships to provide air defence in case the NATO madmen tried to shoot down his presidential plane.
Cameron should hang his head in shame.
You're right!
http://www.whatdoesitmean.com/index1817.htm
When you bring four war ships armed to the teeth, there's no rationale to speak in conspiracy theory.
:-)
The statement says to me Putin doesn't trust airtravel these days. If I am correct he may be wise in doing so. It also says "I don't trust you."
Vlad says "I'm going to huff and I'm going to puff and I'm going to...pick my nose."
The guy behind bummer looks a bit like the questionably honorable john corazine.
As the immediate fall out of this global get together of the leaders of rudderless ships of State read this as the immediate outcome of the coming times :

The penny has dropped in the land of the Shard.
After the tough talk to Putin the 11th hour alarm bells start ringing.
The Western media celebrate our might, without realizing that even if it is true that the US spends more than anybody else in the military apparatus, it doesn't mean that US has the best military apparatus. The industries catering our military apparatus are oligarchs cashing as much as they can exploiting the system as much as they can... so how much we spend is far from how much it is worth...
Economically speaking take the military expenses, divide it by a number between 4 and 8, that is how much it is worth.
But that is not just the point. Some weapons are not even working as they should, nevertheless costing an arm and a leg only because profitable for the industry... so... I would stick to a denominator closer to 8 more than 4...
And when I say this I am being optimistic... long live our Oligarchs!!!
;-)
Russian military equipment is designed by the same folks that designed Ladas, Volgas and Zhigulis. No one wants this crap outside of Russia. Actually, no one wants it inside of Russia, either.
Dream on. Russia number 2 arms exporter in world so quite a lot of folks want their gear.
Then you've never been near any Russian military equipment. I own some, and trust me , it is outstanding.
No kidding DragonWings!! What is the average age of our ICBM fleet? What is the level of preparedness of our troops? Russia would clean our clock at this point. And Putin knows this. Look how the USS Donald Cook incident played out. That tells you everything you need to know.
Looks more like the positioning of the summit photograph.
#PSYOP
Four warships - why did they send the entire Russian navy??
Never heard of the Russian subs the USN calls 'black holes'?
That cat looks like its in the company of its peers. The koala on the other hand is wondering what the hell this creature is and how can I get away from it.
The picture of the koala vs leopard is very unfair. The koala had pics with Putin as well http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/11/16/1416123977285_wps_27_epa044913...

Ask Santa for a sense of humor this Christmas. You sorely need one.
I would expect Putin to feel out of place at such a gathering. He is the lone chaperone at an adolescent dufus party.
