Shock At ISIS Beheadings, Silence At Saudi Arabia's: Why?

Tyler Durden's picture

In the past 3 months there has been much discussion regarding the gruesome and barbaric beheadings by ISIS of western hostages. Yet surprisingly, a similar and just as barbaric tradition has been taking place for ages just a few hundred miles east of ISIS, in Saudi Arabia. It has been met with nothing but silence by the same indignant western societies who are quick to condemn ISIS villainy. Why the disconnect? According to the following interview by Canada's CBC reporter Anna Maria Tremonti with Newsweek's Janine Di Giovanni looking at the "shock over ISIS beheadings but silence over Saudi Arabia beheadings" the answer why few if any dare to criticize the Saudis is simple: oil.

From CBC:

The crimes committed by ISIS in Syria and Iraq are immense and repulsive. But videos of the extremists purportedly beheading captives appears deranged. Decapitation as a means of execution has terrified people as long as there have been sharp blades.

But while the world condemns ISIS, not so far away a nation routinely punishes its criminals in a similar way. And sometimes the punishment is for acts most people in the West wouldn't even consider crimes.

Newsweek Middle East editor Janine Di Giovanni has investigated beheadings in Saudi Arabia and she joined us from Paris.

We called and emailed the Saudi embassy in Ottawa to see if anyone wanted to comment on the practice of beheadings in Saudi Arabia. We have not heard back, but that offer remains open.

The beheadings by ISIS and the Saudi Kingdom are the latest manifestation of an ancient horror. Frances Larson has looked into the terrifying and bizarre history of beheadings in her new book "Severed: A History of Heads Lost and Heads Found". She is an honourary research fellow at the University of Oxford.

The full 27-minute interview can be found after the jump. The all too obvious reasons why the Saudis are immune from any western criticism, at least according to the Di Giovanni, are laid out 11 minutes into the recording. Also pay particular attention to the executioner saying he is "doing the god's work." One wonders if he works for Goldman too?

"Saudi royal family is a cancer to Islam."

"ISLAM is a cancer"

There.....fixed it for ya zerozulu

And like all cancers Islam will burn itself out killing the host.  They failed the first time when they try to take over the West.  People like Charles Martel and Vlad Tepes crushed them.  They think they are ascendant.  Even the quickly de-Christianing West will get a bellyful soon enough and turn on this primitive hoarde.  It will, of course start with the people with a people's hero in each country for the leaders are ball less ladymen.

But make no mistake about it.  Islam's time has come and gone.  It may start with a secular Western pushback.  It may start with a renewed Christian Crusade.  But when radical Islam hits the streets in a significant way, good men and women of the West will go house to house if need be and sweep away these vermin in their own blood.

And if need be.....and SHOULD be.....take it to these rat bastards homes and slaughter their women and their children as a lasting reminder.  Practice your barbarous religion in your own home and country.  But not here.  Never here.  Never again.

Would you prefer to die a painful, and often unsuccessful the first attempt, electrocution, (USA) or a non-painful beheading carried out swiftly by a professional? (such as in Saudi Arabia) Let's not forget both methods are used as part of the judicial system as a capital punishment for a crime considered worthy of the death penalty.

While perhaps true, many of the beheadings are performed on criminals, not just on random people. In addition, the executioner who performs it does a good job of it, not a hack job with a dull knife. Given that the US executes folks too, I dare say that it is an argument of method rather than an argument over substance.

This is a horseshit post by the Tylers. The reason ISIS whacks people's heads off is to terrorize their enemies. Doing it as the Saudis are as a way of capital punishment after some trial is another matter entirely. Hell...The Guillotine will be used in the United States before this is through...for the deserving.

Sharpening my steel blade...

kchrisc will open a franchise before this is over. If not him then I.

It is actually quite humane. Hell it is much more humane than burning people from the inside out...Or...with Hydrogen Cyanide gas immersing the victim in an acid bath. (HCN is an ACID. It burns up the lungs causing suffocation. But it burns the outer skin and eyes also.) Or Electrocution which cooks the victim alive. Or lethal injection where the Panchromium Bromide burns much like NOVOCAINE in your gum...except it is throughout your entire body.

Yeah we might as well burn them at the stake as it would be more HONEST.

No I am not anti Death Penalty.

We can kill without any suffering through the use of a Nitrogen Gas atmosphere which causes anoxia, laughter, unconciousness within 15 seconds to a minute, and death in six minutes. But most Death Penalty advocates will not have that as they want people to suffer horrific pain.

Now that is much more barbaric than a beheading. At the most you suffer for 15 seconds...if that...from a beheading.

Yeah...Bring back the guillotine. Or burn them at the stake. By God Almoighty be HONEST about what you are doing and why you are doing it.

That is what really makes, me think to terminate lives...DISHONESTY. The wages of sin are death and none are so deserving as the DISHONEST.

That is why the Banksters are first in line for the Guillotine.

Would you feel that your natural rights as a human being had been adequately represented if you were the subject of one of these "trials" ?  A couple of years ago The Saudi .gov beheaded an old woman for the crime of putting a "hex" or "curse" on a man, resulting in his impotence. There was no shock when ISIS was doing atrocities in Syria.  And no shock or outrage at the horrible death of Gaddafi (Hillary joked about it) or about the complete destruction of Libya.  Nor at the thousands of people illegally droned to death by the Nobel Prize Winner including women and children.

Outrage is so selective these days.  Everything that Putin does is an outrage while the West can flout every law without rebuke.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that ISIS was made in America:

ISIS: The jihadist movement stamped “Made in America”

The fact remains, however, that the US, the major European powers, and their regional allies all previously lent financial, military and political support to ISIS and similar groups, which have “Made in the USA” stamped all over them. They have, until now, played a significant part in Washington’s efforts to overthrow the regime of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria, as part of a broader effort to gain control of the region’s vast energy resources and transit routes.

Elsewhere they report that Putin says that lower oil prices present difficulty but they have a plan to deal with it is a sign of weakness. Perhaps the US government is depressed it couldn't sign a deal with China for Americam shale oil? Meantime our limp wristed PM is giving out tickings off to Putin on behalf of Obama & Co. Saudis are the recognized govt and beheadings are their form of lethal injection/electric chair/gas chamber. Also, Saudi beheads jihadists when they catch them in Saudi. ISIS runs around beheading everyone who opposed them in order to consolidate their power when they take over a city. You fail to perceive the importance of the interrelated nature of the world.  The dunecoons keep their women chained and mummified while also maintaining an appropriately high level of fear via their tribal ritual murders.  To balance this, they make 'education' free, and subsidize the hell outta a lot of goods and services, including oil products. More of these here (http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/f474cf28-b717-11e2-841e-00144feabdc0.html#axzz...).

The outcome here is that half their population fails to reach its economic potential, while the other half knows they dont have to work hard.  Through time, the government decides it needs an ever-higher price per barrel to balance the 'free-shit' budget.  You and I pay for this whenever OPEC is allowed to set the price of oil.  The insidious aspect here is that Saudi Arabia makes itself MORE important to US strategic interests by having a more profligate government.  They also know the US will look the other way on its ritual tribal murders.  The US is sponsoring this, yet the enviro-freaks are trying hard to prevent the Keystone from carrying Canadian oil to Gulf Coast refineries, and they are working hard to limit the fracking that is busting the OPEC cartels influence and jeopardizing their savage way of life.

The world benefits from fewer beheadings and less oppression within Saudi Arabia.  US policy should NEVER support laziness, murder, tyranny, and oppression in the world, b/c those actions always reverberate Stateside.

This does NOT necessarily mean we go to war, or perhaps 'to drone' to protect the 'innocent peoples of the world'.  But we sure as shit dont need to be in the business of protecting and enabling tyrants.

Not a fan of Che, not a fan of beheading those who question islam either. As for the Texan executions I'm for most of them but against quite a few that relied on weak evidence (and stupid lawyers), or executed those incompetent to stand trial (like the low IQ inmate who didn't realise that he shouldn't save his pudding to eat after his execution), or executed those who had fully changed their ways and were now a benefit to socirty (Karla Fay Tucker for example).

A good beheading always seems to make Head-Lines.

But let's not kid ourselves. The US went ahead and dropped atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima despite advice to the contrary by its generals.

Barbarity takes many shapes and forms and there has not been an age in human history without it.

Sun, 11/16/2014 - 05:11 | 5453760 effendi
effendi's picture

The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved tens of millions of lives. 200,000 allied P.O.Ws were set to be executed that month (they had already started and had executed many thousands at places like Sandakan). A conventional invasion of the Japanese home islands was forcast to cause 800,000 to over a million casualties for the Allies. The death toll for the Japanese would have been over 10 million and possibly as high as 50 million (every civilian was expected to fight to the death, plus they had no food reserves and mass starvation would have killed millions). The Japanese government had already enacted regulations to permit cannabilism and a number of allied P.O.Ws and others were being used to suplement Japanese troops rations.

Plus the war would not have ended before 1947 and the deaths of many millions more in Japanese occupied territory (especially China).

The generals were for the bombings to prevent the horror that invasion would of required. Do you think they wanted to repeat Iwo Jima and Okinawa on steroids?

Sun, 11/16/2014 - 05:39 | 5453768 Peter Pan
Peter Pan's picture

Not so. The Japanese had already heralded their surrender but one of the sticking points was the fate and position of their Emperor. And read a little bit more and you will find that the generals were NOT in favour of the bombing. The President of the USA was for it.

And if all else fails to convince you, why was it necessary to bomb a second city. And if a second city was necessity then why not bomb a third and a fourth city?

The horror of an atomic bomb escapes you because you have not witnessed the results.

And if bombing both of those cities was meant as a deterrent, then you might undersyand why the mullahs of Iran would want one as well. And it might explain why North Korea has been allowed to keep its population in a death camp state for so long without anyone interfering.

It's a nasty business my friend and a dirty one as well.

Care less and less? The only motive for anyone giving a shit about the middle east is about who controls the oil. Nobody gives a shit if the ragheads are killing each other, except as it affects who controls the oil. Is there another way to say it? The only reason anyone gives a shit... Well, you get the picture.

Why? B/c we're supposed to be believers in the fantasy that there are kind, gentle Muslims in the world.  23% of Saudi Arabia's population is Wahabi, which by Muslim standards, is very conservative.  So that means a whole lotta beheadings, arm-removals and the occasional stoning.

At least the Saudi beheadings are quick. They have a national executioner, who uses a special sword for the task. One stroke, instead of sawing the head off with a knife or machete.

What the hell goes on in your heads to judge beheading more gruelsome than other way of murdereing someone? You find it mor human to give th death penalty and let them live among it for decades? SA is our gas station, and bank we arent going to say a word to the savages. The propaganda with ISIS is being used in order to get the average American to support war in Syria.

Some history of US. Gov's manipulation of public opinion to achieve their desired goals.

-- Spanish saboteurs blew up the USS Maine in Havana harbor (Support for S/A war)

-- The Kaisers troops playing catch with French babies using their bayonets to catch French babies (Support for WW I)

-- Knew of imminent Japanese attack plan for US and allowed it to occur to get US into WW II.

-- Gulf of Tonkin incident. (Support for Vietnam war)

-- Manuel Noriega was alleged Nazi and Satan worshiper and drug dealer.
Support for US Invasion of Panama)

-- Iraqis stealing incubators and throwing Kuwaiti babies from said incubator on the ground. (Support for first gulf war)

-- the Iraqis are enriching yellow cake(uranium) by that perfumed prince Colin Powell (support for invasion of Iraq 2003)

-- the Assad regime is illegitimate in our (US STATE Dept. opinion) and must go editor note; I say that about the US . gov.

-- Russia is annexing the Crimea they've staged 25,000 troops there (the troops have been there by agreement since the collapse of the Soviet Union) part of Russia before there was a US )

-- the Russians shot Down a Malay jet in Ukraine. ( no proof and no bites for public support has largely dropped from US news cycle)

-- we have to save the 40,000 Yadzidis on the mountain from ISIS.

These are just the ones that stick out I'm sure that there are many more

Three letters today to hide a mindset that began with THREE words a 1000 years ago : God wills it!

OIL = Spice routes, silk route and the jewels of Orient that all went to Constantinople, fueling the predatory  ambitions of that age (The Crusader war was a lost cause in colonial terms but it made the West "intelligent" as they got the tree of knowledge from the Arabs and rediscovered Aristotle and Plato through this obscurantist wrapping to their lust for conquest. In a way the Crusader Franks and the Spanish Conquistadors were precursors of Pax Americana's neo-con mantra).

Frankish and Papal greed then and American greed and hubris in exceptionalist "manifest destiny" creed today ! And believe it or not those Crusaders lost Jerusalem but captured Constantinople the real plum on the medieval cake. Just shows what their true aims were and what a joke "God wills it" really was, like WMD of "barbarian East"  today.

The bigger the lie the more happy the Oligarchs feel. Thats perverted Hubris.

And those Wahhabists have the SAME MINDEST as the Crusaders of yester-year, whose lingo and mantra GWB and his neo-con acolytes adopted.

Imagine the travesty of History and western values this has become : Western Mantra getting into bed with the Jihadists; all for OIL.

The premise of this article is incorrect.  There are lots of justified reasons why ISIS beheadings are more shocking than Saudi beheadings, and none of them have to do with oil.  (ISIS has lots of oil).

5.ISIS execute a higher rate over time and population.
4.Saudi beheadings are mandated by a court and legal process.
3.Saudis target individuals for specific acts.  ISIS commits group retribution.
2.Saudis don't allow videos of the execution.  ISIS widely circulates their videos.

And the number one reason ISIS executions are more shocking that Saudis...  ISIS executions target white people.

Saudi 'court and legal process'? What a fucking J-O-K-E.  The dunecoons recently decreed that 'due process' could be bypassed in instances involving 'terrorism'.  Sound familiar?

Oh, and there is no written criminal penal code in Saudi dunecoon land.  So basically there is no formal law, merely what those in power wish to do that day.  I bet Preezy likes this system!
