America Throws Up Over Obama's Immigration Executive Action Even Before It Is Announced

Tyler Durden's picture

Ahead of President Obama's address to the nation tomorrow to dictate his executive orders on immigration, potentially allowing millions of undocumented immigrants to stay legally in the US, a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds nearly half of Americans disapprove of his plan. Only a dismal 38% support the President taking this executive action... which makes us wonder if there has ever been so much revulsion at the policies of a standing President. It's good to be king.

As NBC News reports,

Forty-eight percent oppose Obama taking executive action on immigration -- which could come as soon as later this week -- while 38 percent support it; another 14 percent have no opinion or are unsure.

...

Not surprisingly, these numbers largely break along partisan lines: 63 percent of Democrats approve of Obama taking executive action here, versus just 11 percent of Republicans and 37 percent of independents.

Latinos are divided, with 43 percent supporting the action and 37 percent opposing it.

I personally don't think so...  IMO even the mainstream GOP are not for executive actions on amnesty, especially at this point right before they take control of the Senate.  Just doesn't make sense for them to do so.  Sure, they have been feckless and spinless, but that does not mean they are either supportive or in bed with Obama on this, or anything else for that matter.

I'll go one step further and state I think the GOP has actually been very effective, legislatively, over the last 4 years.  With virtually all the media outlets and the DNC lieing about the GOP every single moment, and Reid holding up virtually every bill from the House, the public of course believes the GOP are as responsible for the problems as the Dems and Obama.

Still looking for "executive orders" in my copy of the Constitution.

I guess they must be, well, Unconstitutional.

Oops, that would mean that the NSA, FEMA and this nonsense is Unconstitutional.

"Don't you hate it when that happens?!"

An American, not US subject.

But then the whole thing is a ruse by CIA-Obama to rile up the right-wing, evangelical Christian, neo-con sheeple into a fervor that will allow them to institute the next step in dictatorship.

Pretty sure the neo cons aren't against this at all, seeing that they are really just crypto dems that run in red states.

Qualifying the Bushist cabal as Commie "statists" is not far from the truth; although it be a historical misnomer.

Both Stalin and GWB were despots. Period.

They controlled the biggest despotic machines : the State. But to destroy despotism one has to have a solution.

Its not anarchism nor obscurantism.

A rant against despotism without a solution is a waste of time as History shows. It needs a "we the people" that can out-fool the Machiavellian manipulators.

We are not there YET, as the people are clueless, as the 4th estate, their Sherlock Holmes of truth seekers are now working for the "other side". If you add to that the "regulators" and the Supreme "creme de menthe" hanging chad shenanigans, compounded by elimination of habeas corpus and Patriot Act and NSA "for ever", you are home and dry to what is the true state of affairs.

After having presented amply the libertarian mantra here at the Hedge that : democracy, the populist variety, is not the hallmark of US republicanism --the contributors of ZH (if not the Tylers) have amply demonstrated this maxim time and again-- we now have a post that Bashes Obama for exactly the opposite reason; aka 52% Americans don't support his alleged decision exposed tomorrow.

I don't see the logic of this new line of argument. You cannot on the one hand say a Potus should do what he thinks best for the nation as he is the TRULY elected #1, and then say but the unwashed (or the unelected if you prefer)  don't like his  decision and therefore its not in the interests of the country.

Which is the line of argument the Tylers support : People's fickle instant poll opinion (which could about turn tomorrow) or more solid reasons based on cogent arguments ?

Hey asshole. All I ask is that the POTUS do what's fucking legal.

I give two shits about what he thinks is fair or right.

There is also a concept called consent of the governed....what you brush away as unwashed whoevers....

"Hey asshole. All I ask is that the POTUS do what's fucking legal."

There is a marked difference between what is "legal," and what is "lawful."

"Legal" is what they say it is. "Lawful" is what the is permitted under the FULL body of the law.

One can see "legal" at work in the DC US' interpretation and use of the "commerce" and "general welfare" clauses. Also in calling the Obamacare mandate a tax instead of a mandate (Look ma! I squared the circle.").

The "full body of the law, begins, emanates, from the Constitution. If it is not provided for, or is prohibited by the Constitution, then it is, by definition, not "lawful." Therefore, being "unlawful," such an edict, dictate, from power is not a "lawfully" enforceable law. Enforcement of such an edict, dictate, is an act of transgression against the people's Life, Liberty, and/or Property, and is therefore and act of war, and treason under Article 3, Section 3.

An American, and Witness One, not US subject.

The nonsense is a tendancy at the Hedge to present one logic and its opposite as if both were equally valid.

This fence sitting by the Tylers has to stop or be explained.

Are we in the logic of MSM of : whats important is that "the game never ends". Thats what QE is about : LET THIS GAME NEVER END !

Or are we in the logic that those who sing this song are worse than CRIME itself ?

of course its legal as he has executive privilege.

Consent of the governed is covered by executive privilege that ALL presidents have used for differing reasons.

Don't fart against the wind, there is inevitable blowback.

Total Violation of A1S8C4 US Const.

CONGRESS Powers:

"To establish a uniform rule of naturalization, and uniform laws on the subject of bankruptcies throughout the United States;"

The President has no power to "make law" only to execute the laws established by Congress.

Not that the US Const. exists anymore, since the executor of the laws (POTUS) is an illegal entity (NOT a natural born Citizen, since he was born BRITISH of a British subject father).

If the executor of the laws is an illegal entity then the law is only what he says it is. Just look around.

Hussein Obama, installed by election fraud perpetrated by the NWO, was the deathblow to the Republic.

Hussein Obama presides over the Cloward Piven destruction of America, and this situation can only be turned around by yanking him from our office and hanging the co conspirators in Congress that allowed the destroyer domestic enemy of the US to be there.

Can it be any more plain and in front of your lying eyes?

Like most other debates, this is a trick question. We should be asking why governments oppose the free movement across borders at all. Or for that matter, why do countries/governments even exist? Seems like most people only want the government to step in when it suits them.

Like most everything else that used to have some objective basis but no longer does, polls are becoming instruments to shape public opinion rather than quantify it (eg, the inaccurate polls for the 2014 election which had about a +6 to +8 Democratic bias).

During the 2004 election, I educated myself re polls. Today, I can peruse the specifics of a poll and pretty much determine how accurate it is. I searched for the specifics of the NBC/WSJ poll results to so determine but the details were nowhere to be found.

My opinion is that the specific questions the poll asked were cleverly worded to increase the percentage of respondents who support Obama's executive action, and that the poll's internals (eg, the demographic mix, the political mix, land lines vs cell lines, etc) were also similarly biased.

NBC is in the tank for Obama. Except for the editorial pages, so is the WSJ.

It is not a coincidence that the poll was released today. Chances are close to 100% that the White House closely coordinated with NBC and the WSJ to release the poll's results today.

Obama wants SOMEONE to love him; Blacks feel he has let them down by not providing them with reparations, whites dislike him because, well......because he is Barack Obama. Jews dislike him because he has not been as pro Israeli as they thought he should have been {attacked Iran by now}, and Muslims dislike him because he has not implemented Sharia law in the USA yet {after all, he did tell them he was a Muslim brother in a speech at a Detroit mosque back in 2008. At least this way the Mezcuns will like him. And the queers, let's not forget the queers, because they will not let us forget about them. If we try, they will have a parade, or plaster they're cars with equal sign bumper stickers.

If people acknowledge that the executive now really can unilaterally create laws, then we live in a dictatorship.

Seriously.

A 'Dictator' is an executive who both makes the Laws and Enforces them.
