European Consumer Confidence Tumbles To 9 Month Lows

Tyler Durden's picture

Despite record low bond yields and all the promises one can bear from politicians and central bankers, the people of Europe are the least confident since February. At -11.6, missing expectations of a slight improvement from -11.1 to -10.7, this is the biggest miss since August 2011. It's perhaps not surprising given the near-record highs in unemployment but oddly, confidence seems highly correlated to EUR strength (or weakness)... the opposite of what the market hopes for.

EU Confidence at 9 month lows...

As Confidence correlates rather too strongly with a weaker EUR...

Never figured the Belgians had it in them.

From Radio Blackout:

More than 120,000 people took to the streets on Thursday in Brussels, in what was the first major demonstration against the austerity measures of the new right-wing government.

The event was organized by the common front of unions Belgian and saw a massive participation of workers, temporary workers, the unemployed, illegal immigrants and students, united against the new government agreement that includes measures which constitute a real attack to the work and social services.

The event was a success in terms of participation: the organizers have stated that no such a turnout was registered in Belgium for at least 30 years. From now until the end of December are scheduled several other demonstrations and general strikes.

*For geographically challenged Americans: Belgium is somewhere near Quebec in Canada and poses no threat to the US

Hopefully we English can give up on this whole 'European' pan-state circle-jerk love-in and get back the business of being largely hated and vilified.  We're not very good with 'nice' or 'neighbourly', at least we know where we stand when we're being xenophobic cunts.

Ahhh, there's the hatred.  Reminds me of the good old days.

Let's see... xenephobia. Hmm... oh... I have it:  'we won't miss your Flemish 3rd world chocolate fondling shithole either'.

That ok? I'm really out of practice, this is embarrassing...

Maybe you should call your family and with that combined IQ of 85 you'll be able to formulate a proper insult?

They just don't have enough bankers taking home record bonuses? Or their leaders don't have enough billionaire cronies. We have perfected Crony Capitalism!

Europeans just need to move to Philly, or maybe just hire those Fed surveyors.

The only way riots will occur in the US is if you take away the EBT cards.

Look for QE 4 next year.

Infinite QE restarts back up again.

This time $125 billion/month. Bigger and more.

Evans, Dudley, Williams and Yellen, you love to print. You should do it big. Do $500 billion/month. That will give you Fed heads wet dreams.
