10 Examples Of The Social Decay That Is Eating Away At America Like Cancer

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Michael Synder of The Economic Collapse blog,

It isn’t just our economy that is crumbling.  Something is happening to America that no amount of money will be able to fix.  Everywhere around us we can see evidence of the social decay that is systematically eating away at the foundations of our society.  It can be found on the streets of our inner cities, in dark basements in extremely rural communities, in the most prestigious boardrooms on Wall Street, and definitely in the halls of power in Washington.   Bringing in an entirely different crop of politicians or printing gigantic mountains of money is not going to solve this problem, because it exists in the hearts of millions of ordinary men and women.  The truth is that we really need to take a good, long look at ourselves in the mirror, because we need to take a 180 degree turn as a nation.  What we are doing now is clearly not working, and the longer that we take to address this problem the worse it is going to get.  The following are 10 examples of the social decay that is eating away at America like cancer.  Individually, they could be dismissed as isolated incidents.  But I could have easily listed 100 examples or 1000 examples.  Every single day, we are inundated with reports like these.  The symptoms of the decay of our society are all around us.  We just have to be willing to look at them…

#1 It seems like many of the most horrific crimes these days are happening in middle America.  For example, a woman was recently hit over the head, raped and set on fire in a park in Wichita Kansas

Wichita police say a woman was sexually assaulted, hit on the head, and set on fire Monday night in Fairmount Park.

According to police, the woman was on the ground, almost in a crawl, barely moving, and naked.

The woman was helped by a neighbor – Johnnye Marshall woke up her boyfriend Deon McPherson when she heard somebody scream for help.

“What if that was my daughter?  I’d want somebody to go in and get her,” McPherson told The Wichita Eagle.  “Where there wasn’t blood, there was a burn.”

The flames from the fire were about 2 to 4 feet high.  McPherson stayed with the woman until firefighters arrived.

#2 I have repeatedly written about how the United States is the most obese of all the major industrialized nations.  Well, now we are using our extreme obesity to try to hide things that we have stolen

A 350-pound Wal-mart shopper was arrested yesterday after he was found sitting atop five stolen rib eye steaks in the seat of a motorized scooter that he was riding around the South Carolina store.

Rodney Fowler, 43, was spotted Tuesday afternoon placing the steaks in his scooter by a Walmart loss prevention officer, according to a police report.

“Suspect sat on the steaks and exited the store passing all points of sale, without attempting to pay for said merchandise,” cops noted.

The 5’ 5” Fowler was then confronted by the Walmart worker and escorted back into the store, where he was later arrested by police for shoplifting. “Due to his size, the suspect was cuffed using two pairs of cuffs,” investigators noted.

#3 What would you do if a police officer pulled you over for a traffic stop and exposed his private parts to you when he came up to your vehicle?  Well, this actually has been happening in New Jersey

A Newton police officer was arrested Monday on accusations that he unzipped his pants and exposed himself to young male drivers during “numerous” traffic stops.

Jason R. Miller, 37, of Hampton Township, a patrolman since 2001, turned himself in at the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office and has been indefinitely suspended without pay pending the outcome of the criminal case, according to a statement issued by Sussex County Prosecutor Francis Koch and Newton Police Chief Michael Richards.

Miller was charged with two counts of official misconduct, one count of a pattern of official misconduct and one count of lewdness, the statement said.

Miller would expose his genitals to motorists “to satisfy his prurient interests” and then let them leave without issuing traffic summonses, according to a police complaint.

#4 If someone was planning to “accidentally” kill his wealthy wife, you would think that he would be smart enough not to put an “X” on the map where he planned to do it.  But that is apparently precisely what one man in Colorado foolishly did…

A suburban Denver man charged with pushing his wife to her death off a cliff in Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park could not explain to investigators why he had a park map with an “X” drawn at the spot where she fell.

Newly unsealed court documents say Harold Henthorn denied using the map during the deadly September 29, 2012, hike.

But he told friends that he scouted out the park’s steep and craggy terrain at least six times, trying to find the perfect place to take Toni to celebrate their 12th year of marriage.

It also turns out that his first wife died in a “freak accident” too.

Some coincidence, eh?

#5 It is one thing to kill someone.  It is another thing to hack the dead body up with a saw and cook it.  I don’t know what in the world has happened to the state of Florida, but a lot of really weird stuff has been going on down there lately…

Angela Stoldt told officials she took a hacksaw to her neighbor’s body last year and tried to cook away evidence of James Sheaffer.

One leg went in the oven. Other parts went into pots.

Stoldt’s house in Deltona smelled of burning flesh, but she assured her daughter it was just a rat broiling in the oven, according to details made public last week after a grand jury charged her with first-degree murder.

“Thursday is when I was cooking him,” Stoldt told investigators. “Friday is when I was dumping him.”

The 42-year-old Deltona woman is accused of killing Sheaffer, 36, a limousine driver, in April 2013.

#6 In recent years, it seems like there has been a constant stream of news stories about twisted men locking up women in their basements and forcing them to be sex slaves.  The latest example comes from Cincinnati

A man pleaded guilty Friday to locking multiple women in his Cincinnati home and forcing them into prostitution.

Christopher Hisle, 45, was arrested on April 8, 2014, in Louisville, Kentucky after authorities said he drove a young woman from Cincinnati to Louisville to engage in prostitution at a nearby Red Roof Inn.

An FBI investigation later revealed Hisle was involved in forcing and compelling the women to engage in commercial sex for at least two years. He held the women at his Avondale home at 908 Lexington Ave., documents state .

It is unknown how many women Hisle held at one time and what their ages were. Authorities said at least 12 women are victims of his human trafficking operation.

#7 Why would a grown woman want to have sex with a 10-year-old boy?  You would have to be incredibly sick to try to do such a thing, but that is reportedly what one 25-year-old babysitter in Connecticut is charged with doing.  In fact, she is accused of doing this multiple times

A babysitter has been accused of repeatedly having sex with her friend’s 10-year-old son while she was looking after him and his other siblings.

Marybeth Rataic is facing 10 felony charges after allegedly having sex three times with the boy at his home in Meriden, Connecticut.

Police say that in one instance, the 25-year-old from Willimantic, had sex with the boy while his siblings slept in the room after creeping into the child’s room, which he shared with his brothers.

She is also accused of having sex with the 10-year-old while his mother was giving birth in hospital.

#8  A minor scuffle between two girls at a California high school erupted into a melee when a 400 pound police officer slammed his fist into the face of one of the girls.   Other students began to swarm the officer, and at that point things got wildly out of control

A lunchtime fight at a Central California high school Wednesday ended with police swarming onto campus, closing the school and putting six students under arrest, authorities said.

However, Ernest Righetti High School students say the initial fight was relatively minor, and that it was a Sheriff’s deputy striking one of the girls involved in the brawl that sparked the mass violence on campus.

That shocking moment was filmed by a bystander and has since been posted online by the Santa Maria Times.

The video shows the officer trying to break up a fight between two girls, only to hit one of the young women and drag her away. Students watching the altercation appear outraged by the act, and start to swarm the officer.

#9 When I was growing up, it seemed like almost everyone watched the Cosby Show on Thursday night.  Bill Cosby was “America’s Dad”, and he was universally respected.  Well, it turns out that now he is being accused of rape by 15 different women.  How is it possible that such horrific crimes could be covered up for so long, and what does that say about our society?  The following comes from Time Magazine

In Cosby’s story we find accusations of women being silenced for decades by threats, lawyers, fear and a generally defensive public, who until now were uninterested in being awakened from sweet dreams of their TV father.

The NPR audio interview released last week showcases Cosby’s clearly pre-determined response to the softest, almost nervous questions about the rape allegations: deafening silence.

This should not be viewed as the mature response of a well respected, integrity filled man (and in the case of his wife, a beloved, regal woman) attempting to maintain dignity and stay above the fray. It should be seen as what it is: A power move by a someone so arrogant that he thinks he shouldn’t even be asked about the fact that 15 women are accusing him of a horrific crime.

#10 As I have written about previously, the violence that we have seen in Ferguson, Missouri this year is a perfect example of how the streets of America can descend into chaos.  And now the upcoming grand jury decision threatens to rekindle that violence.

Instead of sober deliberation about this case and sincere attempts at peaceful reconciliation, both sides are preparing for mass civil unrest.  If the grand jury reaches “the wrong decision” we could see even more rioting, looting, violence and police brutality than we saw the first time around.

And this time, it may not be limited to Ferguson.  As the Daily Sheeple has pointed out, protest organizers have put up a Tumblr page for something called “The Ferguson National Response Network“.  According to that page,  “planned responses” are being organized in 82 cities throughout the United States.  In addition, protest organizers have released a list of 19 “Proposed Rules of Engagement” for confrontations with law enforcement authorities.  Needless to say, all of this sounds quite ominous.  The following are the 82 cities where “planned responses” are currently being organized…

Police in Ferguson are warning citizens that they better buy guns because they “will not be able to protect you or your family“.  And CNN is reporting that gun sales in Ferguson are indeed surging.

Hopefully this grand jury decision will come and go and peace will prevail in Ferguson and elsewhere.

But without a doubt, the thin veneer of civilization that we all take for granted on a daily basis is disappearing.

The foundations of our society are steadily rotting and decaying, and our underlying problems are getting worse with each passing day.

How long will our nation be able to remain stable if this continues?

"But the reason why, which you seek, is that men, all men including Christians, are inherently flawed. All are deserving of death...even the Christian."

Can't argue with that, brother. Absolutely true.

"So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!" - Romans 7:21-25

Is it Muharram again already?  Damn, where did I put my flogger?

Since I'm in the neighborhood, I notice you like to use Penrose as your proof of intelligent design.  Even if one accepts that, however, the "logic" that follows seems a little confusing.  Perhaps you can clarify.

For example, how, after assuming ID to be correct, does one leap to a just and loving god, who also happens to be your god of choice.  ID doesn't seem to be able to prove conclusively amongst a range of possibilities from The Matrix, to one god, to a team, to a design committee, or even to a group just bored by eternity and having some fun watching a bunch of little creatures running around hugging or beating each other.  Similarly, ID, if true, doesn't prove the existence of a "soul".  Electrochemical activity works just as well if not better, and requires no additional proof.  Alzheimers and accidents resulting in brain damage, which markedly alter the "personality" of the individual, also suggest consciousness and "soul" are merely physical.

Goodness in a god is also more a hope or a wish than anything indicated by the empirical evidence.  Tsunamis and childhood cancer, among other things, at least suggest something far short of "all-loving", and if "mysterious ways" is an answer, then Ben Bernanke should immediately pick that up and use it.

I think if any faith got it close to what seems to be observable reality, it was the ancient Greeks.  Their gods were flawed, mildly incompetent, impish, and full of all the things we hardly admire in each other, such as arrogance, vindictiveness, and being in need of constant praise and attention.  I also think that I could construct kind of a two party Deist System, where, for example, the parties take turns running different universal iterations, with the party not in power throwing brickbats and wrenches into the works simply to cause mischief and provide additional entertainment value to their bored competitors.  Hence, tornados habitually hit trailer parks, overcrowded ferries capsize in either the Bay of Bengal or near Manila, rock stars planes crash, etc.

If I have missed Penrose' further calculations, you can point me in the right direction.  Otherwise, I think the leap from his arguable assertion is only one of faith, not logic.  Faith is perfectly fine, but those filled with it should admit it as such.  There are those who, while trying to behave perfectly "Christian" in the best sense of the term, are still looking for a good answer.

Chindit - Thats some interesting possibilities. Here is one of mine. What if we all wrote scripts for one another to act out over a short or long span of time and took turns playing the good guy or bad guy for cosmic gag reel and evolutionary refinement? I would call this script Superman 3, like the movie with Christopher Reed it kind of sucks.

I mean really, why would after all the mischief a devil did in genetic tampering mentioned in the bible, supposedly responsible for scores of death, be imprisoned then released after a thousand years as mentioned in Revelations?

Maybe Seeming Truth has a theory in all seriousness. I just stated a possibility, I don't really know but science is indicating multiple dimensions, varying velocities and rate of time or time standing still, potential multiple ways to exist in simultaneous places at once as proven at least with small particles, teleportation lots of cool stuff.

And Seek Truth I do enjoy Paul probably more than any other bible writer. He admitted his own fallacies and encouraged above all using "reason" another word for logic. Paul also talked about "celestial beings" what we would call aliens these days. For practical advice on living better, Paul and King Solomon are worth a read.

Christs message was simple "love your neighbor as yourself" and also to turn over the moneychangers when they rip lf your labor through currency debasement. Of course, the literal acting out of that tends to get one killed so not all of us are cut out for such a job.

Why is America so messed up? Too much currency debasement from a foreign lobby and too much money in politics.

Criminals that run governments often use police as tax collectors and set them up before large rounds of looting. "globalization" was just an excuse by some (but not all) for shirking national responsibilities and selling out the population cheap to foreign powers. It certainly isn't the first time in history and won't be the last. But yeah, as an American it sucks when your country gets turned into a almost 3rd world in what seems like overnight. The hypocrisy of robbers and police states for tax revenues after they looted the production that would have minimized the overall burden is a real nasty side of predatory human behavior. If it is all a script, someone or aomething in existence has a real fucked up sense of humor.

God’s divine plan is eternal. As such, it can be hard for temporal mankind to understand:

God created everything in a perfect, sinless state. God gave free will as well as reason to his human creations- he did not create human robots. Mankind disobeyed God, choosing to believe the father of the lie (Satan) rather than their truthful creator (God). From that moment, sin and imperfection was introduced to mankind, and all that had been created. This resulted in death, disease, mental illness, etc, with God no longer protecting his creation from natural disasters. What Satan did was challenge God- Satan wanted to be God- and God saw that Satan would not be the last that would challenge Him. That is why God did not immediately execute Satan and his demons- he and his ilk (human rulers included) would be allowed to operate long enough to prove once and forever that there is only one true God (the creator), that he alone has the right to rule and be worshipped.

God’s eternal plan includes redemption from sin and imperfection- this is why His Son, Jesus Christ, sacrificed His perfect human body on Calvary- to atone for mankind’s fall from grace (undeserved kindness). Since that time, all that is necessary for each individual human to receive God’s grace, and eternal life, is to put faith in Jesus Christ as their personal savior. God’s plan also includes allowing imperfect mankind and spirit creatures to try to disprove God’s right to rule and be worshipped. Mankind has had thousands of years to try every conceivable form of government (The_Beast), and every form of financial system (Whore; Harlot; Babylon_the_Great), and every form of worship to false gods (Man_of_Lawlessness; Son of Perdition). The verdict is (nearly) in, they have all failed.

God’s Son, Jesus Christ, will soon return to execute justice- all who put faith in him will be saved, all those who do not will be cut off.  There will then be a thousand years of perfection, with Jesus Christ as perfect, loving ruler, after which, as you indicated, Satan and his demons will be released one last time from their abyss- to see which humans will again follow him, (Satan) rather than God. At that point, there will be final judgment- all the wicked, both spirit and human, will be cut off forever, while all those judged righteous will live for eternity.

That is God’s eternal plan, as revealed in His word, the Bible.

Chindit...If you are addressing me then please use my name. This got lost in the shuffle and needed to be addressed hours ago.

Your post is loaded so I will do the best that I can to address your questions.

For example, how, after assuming ID to be correct, does one leap to a just and loving god, who also happens to be your god of choice.

I agree that would be a non sequitur leap of faith.

But my argument did not propose that leap of faith. It just proposed that there is intelligent design.

Did my argument state any of these conclusions? It is rather pointless to address these questions if you do not accept the fact of Intelligent Design.

The atheist claims that there is absolutely no chance of the existence of any God and that the Universe was a chance minifestation.

Of course my argument states that there are 1073 multiples of an absurdity that the Universe was a Random undesigned event. Now I have been known to gamble. And I generally only do that when the odds are in my favor. In other words I play to win.

But the odds that the Universe was a chance chaotic manifestation are so long that it is an incredible leap of faith that the atheist has. I bet on the side of overwhelming odds. But that is just me.

It would be fruitless to even address these questions without your concession that the Universe was Designed.

But I must admit that you proposed such a STRAWMAN ARGUMENT that most would fall into that trap. I am too clever for that. I need your concession in that the atheistic model is flawed, your concession in that point of debate.

By the way...I have met many honorable atheists. KirkNGC1701 is really cool. I had a great discussion with BringOnThe Asteroid.

My psycholgist friend blasted me for the use of my "damned logic" as I destroyed his position. I just asked him about the quantum probability of walking out his door and ending up on the surface of Mars. He laughed and said that it was not likely. Then I asked him "Where is your spacesuit as that is a far greater probability then the chance manifestation of the Universe?",

My best friend had to concede it as he is my gambling buddy and knows about winning in Vegas. We've been kicked out of a dozen Casinos as they do not like our style of play. And no I am not writing about Card Counting.

As long as you are searching out truth then I applaud you.

May His Noodleness bless you abundantly.

Let's cut the crap, ever since the Coup of 1963, with the followup assassinations of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., Senator Bobby Kennedy and Che Guevera, the plutocrats have unleashed their forces of anti-progress.

This 21st century in no way, shape or form suggests progress of any sort, it is the devolution the Transnational Capitalist Class has dictated against the rest of us!

It's all bullcrap, and America is a completely fraud-based society.

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that progressives claim everything is relative and that each person gets to decide what's right for him or her. So when Clinton acts immorally it's okay, because he is not violating his own standards and is not being a hypocrite. Cosby, on the other hand, kept pointing out the undesirable consequences of immoral actions, so if he violates his own standards he's being a hypocrite.

What kind of police force urges citizens to "buy guns"?

I thought the whole point of having police was so we could feel safe in our own homes to begin with.  Then again maybe there is something the American people need to have told to them first.

I imagine there are many people who think themselves advantaged by chaos...but I can think of very few who in fact are actually.

No, they're not living in Sioux City, Iowa either. They might be from there though.

The sad part is I think I absolutely know why the world has become this.  All I have to say is " Egypt tried to turn the internet off and failed and so will you." Wasnt my idea to take that thing out of the lab that's fer sure.

Everyone wants a media driven event?  Well...this one might really be it.

What kind of police force urges citizens to "buy guns"?

A good one.

That's to answer your question.

The citizen should mitigate crime with their arms, and the police are there to respond after the crime has already happened (or better yet, prevented)

It's not the police's obligation to protect you and a plethora of court cases have ruled that.

That's why one gets firearms training (virtually all of the instructors I have had have been former or current police officers) to protect one's self.

I prefer LEO instructors way over the military instructors, any day.  The police teach you how to deal with suspects and criminals in defense scenarios, and what to do/say for your legal defense after events have unfolded.

The military instructors have drill instructor attitude that I absolutely can't stand, and the scenarios that they teach you could have you end up like George Zimmerman or worse.  Spending prison time isn't my idea of self-defense, but that's a different argument for a different day.

At least Gray had the decency to hide his disgusting personal attributes in his attic under a tarp. We have no such relief from society's ugly facets bombarding us 24/7.

In the UK, a nanosecond does not go by without the nasal twang of an American accent being broadcast on the airwaves. I caught a glimpse of an American tv show on the idiot box the family was watching last night. I didn't stick around so I don't know what it was, but it was meant to be a "family show" considering the hour, and the pretty actress on the screen was bemoaning the behaviour of her wayward daughter to a male friend. She mentioned, rather flippantly, whether she should "waterboard" her daughter to get the truth from her and there was canned laughter in the background. I don't know what was more shocking, that torture which is known to have caused deaths is such common practice, or that Americans can be so blase about it. Homosexual rape in US prisons are also joked about in the same manner. It, and many others seem to be the normal accepted practice.

There is something gravely wrong with a society that accepts such depths of depravity as the norm. While we still have eloquent and decent people around, I am afraid that they are becoming fewer in number every day. I've posted this on more than one occasion: We are rapidly running out of intelligent, moral, reasonable (basically self-actualized) people and that is one of the main reasons why our societies are in such a state.

I have grappled with this myself. Long ago I had turned of TV but occasionally I bump into it second hand. The other day sitting down for lunch with some work associates, I was completely shocked hearing the conversation of a grizzly murder with decapitation and demonic rites. I just sat and stared at them until they laughed at me. Oh, it's just a TV show! I was just incredulous they could be so flippant about something so horrific even though fictional.

I have come to the conclusion people are so numb that only through the most ghastly, violent, sexual depraved story line can they feel anything anymore. They are so far removed from hardship and tragedy in their daily habitual lives this is where they go for excitement. It isn't too far of a leap to the Colosseum or the Hunger Games. The shocking thing is these people are well educated and " upstanding citizens" of the community.

I agree we are in the New Dark Ages where thoughtful, perceptive, and compassionate human beings are becoming rare. The future doesn't bode well.

Just how is that decent?

Would it be decent to change your disgusting personal attributes than just hide them in the hopes that no one will discover them?

Of course you expose one of your own with your post. You believe that it is decent to present a false front, a lie, rather than exposing the truth of whom you actually are.

You have a good point. I was thinking of imposition, as in imposing one's problems on others, but you are right to criticise those who may put on a false front.

I don't know about others, but I think I sometimes do put on a false front with some people, to spare their feelings (you can't go around hurting people by being brutally honest) or to protect myself. That is a personality defect, one of many I can assure you, I'll have to work on.:)

Thank, ajax!

I was thinking about how Americans could appear to have so much of BOTH guns and butter, in their WARFARE/WELFARE state, due to the international bankers being able to capture control over the US government, in order to legalized privately controlled banks being allowed to create the public "money" supply out of nothing as debts, which debt slavery system has generated numbers which have become debt insanities.

The SOURCE of the problems is "magic," like that in the Dorian Gray novel, of being able to legally make the public "money" supply out of nothing as debts. Those nearer the SOURCE become fantastically wealthy, compared to those farer away, who are impoverished.

FISH ROTS FROM THE HEAD. The kinds of stories that Snyder mentioned are the result of generation after generation of people living inside of systems which can "magically" make "money" out of nothing as debts. The Dorian Gray portrait aspect of that is how processes of the past and present robbing the future accumulates, generation after generation, since the DEBTS are kept in that portrait, while the "money" made out of nothing as debts was spent in the past, or at present, in ways that made things look O.K. then.

As Snyder knows better than most, we are headed towards a time when the debt insanities provoke death insanities. At the present time, many people are able to have individual lives in which they can avoid looking at either in the outside mirrors that Snyder referred to, or in the Dorion Gray portrait accounting books, where those running the established systems keep on saying that "debts do not matter, and therefore, borrow more!"

The basic idea that the public "money" supply can be made out of nothing as debts, while governments can borrow that "money" made out of nothing in order to pay for their Warfare/Welfare state, is the SOURCE of enabling all other social situations to cascade down to increasing expressions of criminal insanities. Tragically, after more than a Century of that, the destruction of the bookkeeping in Dorion's Gray's portrait will probably become inconceivably crazy!

Our leaders openly flout the law and do as they please because odds are in their favor that they will not face punishment. They run government in cartels and function on the same levels as street criminals. And like criminal gangs, they abuse ordinary, working, law abiding citizenry. Except instead of assaulting people in dark alleyways they do it from tax funded offices. Hoodlums with badges. They lie and steal in order to trigger wars so as to loot other countries and fatten their own bankbooks. With such blatant distregard for law and order in governance it is no surprise that social decay is pandemic.

I love it when stories appear corrupt in my country!

Talk of corruption at Petrobras, the works of the World Cup, the Olympics may appear many, love it.

Do you know why?

When news appear so, and many go to jail, the government is not covering up.

When a government ceases to appear corrpção is because it is honest.

hehe.

There is corruption in the US, Europe and Japan, the day we end up with tax havens managed by London in its many casinos / islands will be no more cars with insane prices, wristwatches with insane prices, ridiculous paintings with insane prices, houses and palaces, yachts with insane prices.

A couple with two or five children do not need 35 rooms and 15 vehicles in an area of 10,000 or 50,000 square feet with 60 employees to survive.

The figures are misrepresented, a bank manager is better than a guy who knows how to plant corn.

An attorney earns more than a doctor in a small town.

A teacher who teaches literacy earns the same as a taxi driver, this is misrepresenting what a society does justice to be called "Society".

I repeat:

The range of values is distorted.

Politicians are no longer spokesmen of the will of the people, became dominant players in the financial system.

hehe.

The problem with socialism is that it becomes someone else's decision to determine that which is needed for others and leaves no personal freedom for fulfillment of desire.

Who are you to judge another's needs?

Who elevated you to the position to dictate other's needs?

Why are you so arrogant?

If someone can afford a 35 room dwelling and is able to pay for it then it is not about need, is it?

Who are you to dictate to someone else, anyone else, what to do with his wealth?

Socialism destroys personal freedom and is antithetical to anyone who celebrates Liberty.

@Karaio--If we could get rid of the parasitic tax system everyone would live better, save more, and prosper. The IRS is nothing but a goon squad to rip us off and fund central banking parasites and their political crony parasites. At our expense. If someone can live comfortably in spite of oppressive and abusive taxes, good for him. Be careful in denigrating success as Marxists/Socialists/Communists do as a means to nurture smoldering social unrest and control the consequent chaos. They are covetous losers who can't or won't work so they institutionalize envy as a means of keeping down those who differ with them or want to keep their own assets.

UNRELATED: ANOTHER MSM MISS: STOLEN ELECTIONS IN POLAND.

Almost a week after local elections in Poland, there are no official results. All members of election commission (PKW) resigned in protest. Vote counting stopped in many precincts. Computers of election commission hacked. Protests on the streets continue and brief occupation of ballot counting center brutally terminated by police. Outrage and disbelief within voter ranks. Calls for new elections by some politicians and threats of lawsuits. President Komorowski calls situation scandalous. PM Kopacz: “No new elections,.. its paranoia” Websites of anti-governmental activists calling for more protests are being hacked. Published partial results shockingly inconsistent with exit polls pointing to unexpected winners. Political crisis around elections raising.

MSM does not give a damm about democracy in such some God forsaken place like NATO member Poland, especially in context of coming Ferguson fire.

I've learned more from Zero Hedge than I ever thought possible. I would not have woken up if this website did not exist.

However, when I try to share what I've learned on other websites, I am continually frustrated. Ordinary people don't have the knowledge base to have a rational discussion. Case in point: today I was trying to convince someone that ISIS is a CIA creation. His argument was that because he'd been in the millitary, he was right and I was automatically wrong.

I realize this may not be the best place for me to rant, but I can't see how regular people can even live being so ignorant.

Much like Miley Cyrus, this country needs an enema.

Human nature. Most people will only accept something one or two steps away from where they currently are simply because of the cognitive dissonance involved so you need to find out where they are first and then pitch your argument only a short way from that. Then when you have got them to that point pick a new one one or two steps further on rinse and repeat.

Best method around this is to ask very simple questions that they don't know the answers to. For example: "Who owns the Federal Reserve?" or "Satsuma was a poor province of fisherman & farmers, yet they somehow overthrew the Shogun with guns. Where did the guns come from?" Or, "If we are all the same, how can there be any Diversity?"

Keep it practical and factual. Imagine you are talking to an 8 year-old. Don't make any arguments, just ask questions that would lead them toward the truth.

If they are the least bit intellectually curious, they will seek out answers. And since they found the answers themselves, they will prize that knowlege far more than if they just took it from you. If they aren't curious, if they won't seek, then they are merely stupid beasts who will always follow the herd anyway.

We are suffering under the disease of negativism. Its highly contagious because reality feeds it. Optimism is fed by delusion, the thought that you will win the fight, live another day or better still, live forever. Negativism is just a close scrutiny of reality that informs us we are all ultimately fucked, that no matter how hard we try we will still die alone to uncertain ends, heaven, hell or oblivion. Zero hedge is a great instigator of this and I am well addicted....but then again I'm old with a certain end in sight, he futility growing more apparent and with the boomers all lined up I have lots of company. What I find strange is that military personnel are helping bankers destroy the country that they and their relatives live in. Really strange to see this phenomena take place. How does someone like that function? They go into the military willing to die for a nation and then don't give a damn about helping bankers and treasonous politicians destroy the nation that they are willing to die for. They actively participate in destroying the society that their friends families and neighbors live in.

Q99 - Allow me to answer your question:

"The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary."

- H. L. Mencken

Being bamboozled to fight for powerful people interested in looting is not new. This quote further clarifies:

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."

Those were not the ten points I was expecting to be reading.  And maybe only one of them would make my top ten - The Ferguson protests.  There is something wrong when a good cop gets smeared because he had to defend himself from a thug.  Maybe a thug who was not himself because he was high, but none the less.  We have a major politcial party that seems to cheerlead our decent into chaos.  The Democrats values are a 180 from what they should be, in my opnion.

There's over 300 million people in this country, so what if the author can find 1,000 examples of horribly bizzare actions? That's still an extremely small percentage of a now rather large population. The article proves nothing, unless the author can produce unbiased statistics.

produce unbiased statistics...

Is there such a thing?

I would contend that the far more critical factor needed to be produced is truth.  Statistics are useful primarily in the constructon of persuasive argumentation by those with an already predetermined bias.  Truth on the other hand stands on its own and where it should be the foundation of a logical and reasoned response to abhorant conduct, its absence from the discussion and the ridicule it receives from the vast number of people who claim it is actually a nonexistent notion guarantees our continued degradation as a society.

I'm all for equal protection under the law but it's a terrible leap to assign equal value to every last individually held belief residing in the hearts of us all.

There is such a thing as right and wrong, good and bad, blessing and cursing.

Yeah, good point. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_priori_and_a_posteriori

USA is something of a Joke because of the Political Memes that float around as Truth.

- We have a guy on the local radio that espouses Lynch Mobs or taking care of the law through vigilante actions, must be a meme here
- Death & taxes are a Meme, but we accept an income tax law that is something like 26000 pages, that we should pay a tax preparer or Turbo Tax, and that it has to be this way
- We don't fix health care costs partly due to two memes: that we have the best Health Care in the World, that private systems are the cheapest... but neither is true
- We don't fix Tort Reform, apparently thinking there is value in the current system despite the cost to health care

- Lloyd Blankfein: We are doing Gods work

I did not read all the comments but did anyone mention divorce both as a cause as well as the result of the moral slide? When the average duration of a marriage in the USA is less than the average age of a car on the road in the USA, one has to wonder about the corrosive effect this has as well as why the percentage of divorce is so high. As if this is not enough you probably have more children born out of wedlock than in wedlock. The most powerful institution for a stable and prosperous nation is the family and it is quite clear that this is being undermined by a host of factors.

Peter Pan - That is called taxation by "family law". I libed through that in NH. Also the "gender bias" tax or simply, the penis tax. The joke up there is if you had one, you got a tax. That is rolling out all across America. You're going to bug out even more if you have a penis, because you'll soon discover the joke.

Whats fucked up is many in leadership recognize those problems but do nothing about them so in the end bankruptcy happens. NH went bankrupt in 2011. Pensions were cut for cops and firemen. See that in the news? Didn't think so.

What really sucks too is that once you get a penis tax other people like employees or family members can use that slander as leverage. If your accused for penis taxation take my word for it, hire a damn good lawyer because you'll lose if you don't. Activist judge system is something I had trouble believing in, until I got hefty penis taxation and slandered. I figure end to end from NH gender and family law taxation it cost me $150,000.

When the state encourages lawsuits by penis taxation rest assured, bankruptcy will follow. But you first of course while those politicians still own that nice home.

Interesting Thread. I woke up this morning thinking about how they Beta Tested the Tax for Obama Care, TARP Bailout, QE, ZIRP Interest for your Personal Savings

What I came up with has to do with Class, Elites can afford the best universities, taxes, and the Expenses for Living and Succeeding in the USA.

Beta Test for Financial Rape:

- US Education System, College has always been a major expense
- US Health Care System, always has been a major expense
- New US Autos, Now Big 3 are in Decline, but very expensive
- Various Insurance Types
- US Drug Costs, Newer Drug Introductions keep prices high

Think about it. Our costs stay high or Increase with no action from TPTB. Of course the Meme is that intervention is Communism or Socialism.

So now we have Obama Care, ACA, a future filled with Bankruptcy from Medical Expenses, and it is like $30K to get a new Degree or get Retrained.

I heard in Canada both the Anglican (Protestant) Churches and Catholic Churches deliberately killed off Indians in order to steal the land. Land was wealth.

The churches would set up a church amongst the Indigenous people, then systematically kill them off(like with small pox infected blankets, or staving & beating children), then inherit all the land.

Also you have a bias or Cognitive Error. You generalize about Indigenous people too much.

“we really need to take a good, long look at ourselves in the mirror”

But what we would see is not a human being but rulers’ propaganda product, a monster. am I being pessimistic?

Pessimism and optimism are hollow words invented by holders of status quo, for lecturing oppressed or fooled. In the world of elites absolute certainty is the only imperative. For them, there is no optimism, nor pessimism, nor negativism, instead, there is hard fist persuasion and/or immediate demand under threat of deadly violence.

Only one meaningful word remained: realism, and its state is attained when we realize true motivations of our rulers, which is to divide us into pessimists and optimists.

Look at the numbers, elites no longer primarily choose military power, nor seriously invest in it, as weapons of choice to subdue their subjects but instead they bet on unleashing enormous power of propaganda. This is not a fluke that Kim Kardashian butt made, in half a year, more money then yearly maintenance costs of US nuclear weapons.

The 0.01% want to treat us, as meddlesome spectators of political and commercial play, instead of, as true enemies. Roman(esque) principles are all in force: conquer, divide, deprive, promote, demote, ridicule, insult, praise, hypnotize and rule.

The argument that, even if we figure out, the truth, what is really going on, it will not change anything seems correct, in view of sophists, because it is not truth that moves us but what we call propaganda, and elites know that.

Such argument is reminiscent of one used in cruel, but well documented, debates occurring inside cattle cars on the way to death camps. The railway workers, often approached, guarded cars, passing same water, told them where they were going and that most of them would be dead within hour upon arrival to destination. Do people reject the truth only because they think that they would not be able to do anything with it and in the same time would loose hope? After all, those people were given hope of being resettled or temporarily imprisoned none of them expected death.

Only less then 2% jumped out of the train. Over 90% survived dangerous escape and over 50% of them survived following years in hiding. Of remaining, about 85% were dead within hours and over 98% over following years.

I cannot tell you whether is worth to know where our train is going or blame ourselves for it. After all, it is only a matter of choice between life and death.

Excellent. You remind me that there are internal Government "Quality Programs" which have been going on for 30 years. And we have Systems of Auditing, Management Control, Management Information Systems, Management Reports, Financial Disclosure Forms, Standard Accounting Systems, Standard Financial Instruments, Banking Systems, Investigative Systems.... But they have all been Corrupted, Degraded, Ignored, Weakened.

If the People really wanted to restore Integrity to our Government & banking Systems... we could do it without even developing any Technology.

Where Else could we Reinstate Quality:

1) TV Shows, News Shows, Radio Shows, Internet News
2) Financial-Government-Banking-MIC
3) Simplify taxes, Streamline Income tax System
4) Standardize Accounting to GAAP Rules, Standardize Financial Instruments to make them Auditable
5) Make Financial Ratings Agencies Independent so that they can not be paid for Ratings by Originator
6) Get Money & Gifts out of Congress, Doctors, Lawyers, no more Lobbying
7) End Shadow Banking, Control expansion of Derivatives
8) Reduce TBTF & Prime Dealers of FED power over Money & Government Contracts like SNAP, Why can't US Government Create Money in US Treasury Debt Free, why do Citizens have to use big banks to create credit
9) Soften bankruptcy Rules for Citizens, why should bank employees make bonuses and create unlimited amounts of money then profit from Loan Failures by Claiming Assets & Corporations

Obama has constructed a Presidency around the glory of radicalism through inaction, and has dominated our politics so thoroughly it’s hard to recall any other mechanisms of governance. Tell me again communism is dead. It is stronger today than it has ever been. Through the capture of our institutions and the destruction of our culture by both those in the know and their useful idiots, they have already achieved most of their goals. The point is that Stalin's plan for the United States has worked.

The West has become morally decadent and weak as a result..

Furthermore biological issues have a moral component.

Just because alcoholism is a biological issue, at one is genetically predisposed to becoming a drunkard, does not mitigate the immorality of drunkeness.

Being a lazy, good for nothing skid row alcoholic is not what I will teach anyone to seek out.

Greed, avarice, and even gluttony is hardwired into the collective DNA. In fact binging was a survival mechanism in times of abundance as those whom became fat stood a better chance of survival in times of famine.

Yet once again I am not going to advise anyone to become a fattened pig.

Your attempt to differentiate that which is the integral does not justify immorality. It leads only to fragmented thought...a thought disorder.

(Confusion is the opposite thought disorder. It happens when one attempts to integrate that which needs be differentiated.)

Many good comments this fine morning.  The problem with the blog is this crap has gone on for centuries and it sounds like Micheal is depressed this fine morning.  The media's job worked on Michael.  Do you think the media actually wants to report real news?  Not at all. The media wants to point out how fucked up we are so more controls can be put into place and the dumbasses of the world accept it and worse cheer for these controls.

None of these reported stories are new or a revelation of how fucked up people are.  Some people are just basically evil nothing more.  Most people are good law abiding people and our justice system along with the media even have the blogger believing their PSYOPS.  Might I even say some here believe this tripe.  I suggest most of this is caused by the media as they parade more and more bad people on TV.  Many try to emulate this type of behavior to land on the big screen.  Thus the reason I do not watch TV much.
