Ten years ago my Daughter's 3rd grade class was +10 kids overcrowded, the +10 were all the children of illegal immigrants who didn't speak English.
The education of 2/3'rds of that class (the children of legal citizens) suffered greatly as teachers tried to manage an over-sized classroom with 1/3 not speaking the language.
I complained to the Principal and he said there was nothing he could do, the Federal Government required them to take the illegal children in.
And yes, they got free breakfast and free lunch and free after school snacks and care.
When I hear all the "STEM" and "improve education" drivel I know it is a steaming crock of bullshit.

If public schools had some level of autonomy, they could place all non-English speakers in remedial classes before joining normal classes. The Spanish kids would learn English damn fast. However, many of ebonics speakers might take longer to get out of the remedial class.

A Reasonable Plan for a Free and Lawful Nation to Maintain Prosperity in the Face of Deteriorating Governance
1. Secure the Border first.
2. Illegals must identify themselves at public stations within two months or they will be no-questions-asked deported if discovered.
3. Make a path to citizenship.
a. Five years probation. Any crimes earn a one way ticket back home.
b. After ten years of no crime, gainful employment, $25,000 in penalties, fluency in english, citizenship and voting rights will be earned.
c. In the meantine, lawful immigrants will earn citizenship without going through this special process for illegal immingrants.
5. Military service earns a fast track to citizneship (It might already- I'm not sure).
6. If you don't like this plan then shut the fuck up and go home.
7. Problem solved.

Maybe perhaps the politicians should not have imprudently spent away the entirety of these funds believed by the taxpaying earners to be their due retirement nestegg?
Maybe the actual taxation levels required for previous spending were fraudulent and these purported medical and retirement funds are in fact and in todo nothing but expropropriated and/or stolen property?
