NATO Jets Surrounding Russia: Before And After

Tyler Durden's picture

Based on the following "before" and "after" the Ukraine crisis pictures of NATO warplanes located just off the Russian border...

Before:

After:

... one can almost understand why Victoria Nuland was so eager to tell the EU to "fuck off" in her successful attemp to foment Ukraine unrest leading to the overthrow of ex-president Yanukovich, and destabilize the region, giving NATO a pretext for a major arms build up on the other side of the Russian border.

Per CNN, "There used to be only four jets ready to intercept Russian planes that crossed into European airspace. Now there are 18." And rising.

As for what the US response would be if Russia were to park a few squadrons of Mig-35s in Cuba, Canada and Mexico, we leave that to the reader's imagination.

Professionalism and "US Trained" may be the definition of oxymoron - from one who HAS had the misfortune of having to work with your "Professionals".

If your "Professionals" had taken pot-shots at that MiG, your boat (and occupants) would have been checking out the seabed toute suite. You know this, the World knows this, so why post a blatant lie.

US / West / NATO ARE threatening Russia (check out all those NATO bases . . .); US / West / NATO HAVE deliberately destabilised Ukraine, The US have certainly pillaged Russian assets and resources, in the very recent (just pre-Putin) past. Everyone (and I DO mean EVERYONE) in Russia is very aware of the Western / US ploy, and they are not going to be the fall guy this time.

The US and "Allies" (read - the self-interested Western "Political Elite" such as Cameron and our delightful "Mr" Abbot) will just keep on pushing, 'cause "nothing's happened yet, so we know the Russians won't retaliate" - until they do, and when this happens it's game over for the West, and the pro-Western hanger-on Nations, irrespective of whether the conflict is nuclear, or conventional.

Your brain has apparently been reduced to a corporate media echo chamber, which is no doubt very comforting for you. But for some of us, the assumed invulnerability of American weapon systems is worth questioning. Just look at the F-35 boondoggle; the Serbians proved 15 years ago that American "stealth" technology is easily defeated simply by returning to WWII-era longwave radar technology, and what did Forbes report just days ago? That the F-35 aced its sea trials, and all is well!

All the major nations under the dominion of the private Western central banking axis are committing their future taxpaying generations to a KNOWN TURKEY, while the mainstream media looks the other way. Sheeple like you are complicit in this infamy.

Return to your status quo slumber, Joe Trader. Let Comcast/DirectTV/ClearChannel/Verizon/AT&T sedate your soul with the flickering filtration of Zionist enchantment. ZH isn't for the somnolescent, so keep to your corporate media hibernation chamber, by all means.

Absolutely!  ZH is not for the somnolescent (sic); it’s for the lost sheeplekovs, happy to fall prey to every spurious assertion they can find here or on the laughably “independent” RT.  It is for the willfully blind (and, of course, the Putiporn Man-Midget Love Society).  Consider just these few to see how gullible and easily led this flock is:

---the article on “stored automobile overproduction”, which used photos from shipment staging sites

---the OMFIF report, which was erroneously and spuriously described as a recent action involving only Central Banks

---the now ancient article on UST Bearer Bonds and Japanese couriers, who in point of fact were just ‘baka’s, who fell prey to a Manila-sourced scam that has been floating around Asia since 1980

---all of the “PM Manipulation proofs”, which are primarily just about the (admittedly illegal) juicing of the close, trying to make the market close specifically on either the bid side or the ask side, so a prop trader can paint his P&L...at ZH, however, the gang thinks one schlock trader at Barclays (?), who probably had a VaR about the size of the chit at one of Mario Batelli's restaurants, is behind the 40-70% crash in Au and Ag since 2011

---last weeks “fracking” article, which even stated (ignored by the crowd here) that water sources were first adulterated in 1985, long before fracking and the result instead of traditional drilling, and an article whose conclusions were crushed by poster and oil/gas expert wrs1

---this weekend's “proof” of Fed purchasing of ES minis, a claim that was solely sourced to a single individual who just had a “gut feel”, completely ignoring the fact that all that QE creates plenty enough incentive in fund managers without the need for any additional prompting

For the most vocal membership here, anger and outrage come first, logical analysis not at all.  For ZHers, it is not about being right, it is about being bitter.  There is no time for getting past the confirmation bias and getting to the reality.  Without that bitterness, their lives have no meaning.  Also, by chasing apparitions, attention is diverted from the actual issues.

For ZHers, it is not about being right, it is about being bitter.

That describes ALL media.

I see these silly bumper stickers from time to time that say "If you're not angry, you're not paying attention"

For me, that is backwards, it should be that if you're angry, you aren't paying attention.

The whole point of media is to get the audience riled up and disoriented.

I have people come up to me, aren't you pissed about illegal immigration, this religious group, what this democrat said, what this republican did, on and on and on.  No, I'm not pissed.  When one is spiritually centered, all of these hot-button issues end up becoming eyerolls.  Bad stuff has been going on long before I was born, and will continue long after.  All I can do is my little part.

Vice President Joseph R. Biden retreated from an angry crowd in Kiev Friday when his Secret Service agents decided the situation was not safe.

Mr. Biden was to meet with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at a site in central Kiev where demonstrators were killed earlier this year during the country’s revolution. But his motorcade encountered a large and “unruly” crowd, many of whom were shouting “shame” at Mr. Poroshenko for failing to prosecute those responsible for the killings

There are two ways to look at this naturally. Supposedly Russia is flying missions over EU airspace and other places. I'm not seeing any reports of provocation on our side with our assets flying over Russia. Nobody said Putin had to go into Crimea or stir things up as he has been doing. Whatever the basis for the orignaal fighting in Ukriane, it was not incumbent on Putin that he needed to send in troops in stealth mode. ZH has been depicting all along that Putin and Russia are the innocent parties in all this. I grew up learning to disbelieve the USSR and now Russia, so it is easy for me to accept that Russia still does not have good intentions. Putin continues to lie to this day about the extent of Russian fighters inside east Ukraine, and not honor internationally recognized borders.

Just because people speak Russian does not mean that they must fall into the Russian orbit if people do not want to fall back into the Russian sphere of influence. That was a large part of his pretext to move into east Ukraine, and how he has been rattling about other potential moves in east Europe. I am really alittle surprised by now the Russian oligarchs have not come out more against Putin, how he is damaging Russia from sanctions and increasing their isolation, save China, Iran and a few others. There was no reason it had to get to this point if one steps back and thinks about it, this constant male measuring that goes on about who is macho and what they are willing to do. It's bullshit if it wasn't so deadly serious.

I'm not saying the US's shit doesn't stink on this either, but Russia needs to get off a bit on their power trip about returning to USSR days and learn to coexist with other nations.

. . . but Russia needs to get off a bit on their power trip about returning to USSR days and learn to coexist with other nations.

Man you must be living in an alternative reality or something.  If you've bothered to check the facts on what's going on in Russia's backyard for the last 10 years or so it has been NATO that has been expanding, the US and its allies fomenting "color revolutions" in Warsaw Pact countries and Russia being blamed for all the problems that have been going on in Ukraine when the evidence is clear that is the US and the EU that have been at the core of the problems there.  I guess your deluded comments are a good indicator of the effectiveness of western propaganda though . . . . either that or you are simply a troll.

Supposedly Russia is flying missions over EU airspace and other places

Russia is flying in international space, like everyone is.

Nobody said Putin had to go into Crimea or stir things up as he has been doing.

Nobody said the US had to organize a coup and overthrow a democratically elected government and install a bunch of nazi's. Russia took Crimea because it is strategically essential to the defense of Russia as it has the only naval base with access to the  Black Sea and it could not let it fall in NATO's hands as was about to happen. The people of Crimea voted overwhelmingly to join Russia. The Crimean parliament asked Russia for annexation. The democratically elected President of Ukraine sanctioned the annexation. Putin has not been stirring anything up.

Whatever the basis for the orignaal fighting in Ukriane, it was not incumbent on Putin that he needed to send in troops in stealth mode.

The basis was NATO meddling in Ukrainian affairs and murdering ethnic Russians. Yes it was.

I grew up learning to disbelieve the USSR and now Russia, so it is easy for me to accept that Russia still does not have good intentions

Yes, propaganda internalized at a young age is hard to eject from your system, too bad you chose to identify with your conditioning.

Putin continues to lie to this day about the extent of Russian fighters inside east Ukraine, and not honor internationally recognized borders.

Proof?

Just because people speak Russian does not mean that they must fall into the Russian orbit if people do not want to fall back into the Russian sphere of influence.

Newsflash: They dont want to be under nazi rule. Hence all the fighting.

That was a large part of his pretext to move into east Ukraine, and how he has been rattling about other potential moves in east Europe

No, and he has not been rattling about other potential moves either.

I am really alittle surprised by now the Russian oligarchs have not come out more against Putin, how he is damaging Russia from sanctions and increasing their isolation, save China, Iran and a few others.

Considering your total lack of insight, knowledge or intelligence, I am not surprised you are a little surprised.

I'm not saying the US's shit doesn't stink on this either, but Russia needs to get off a bit on their power trip about returning to USSR days and learn to coexist with other nations.

Nobody wants to return to USSR days, Russia is more than willing to coexist with other nations. The US unfortunately is not.

My favorite quote from April 2008

Vladimir Putin: “You understand, George [Bush], Ukraine is not a state. What is Ukraine? One part is eastern Europe. The other part, and a significant one, was donated by us”. According to the Russian newspaper Kommersant, Putin then “very transparently hinted that if Ukraine was accepted into NATO, it would cease to exist.

The US military, intelligence and foreign policy establishments and knew full well that Putin would react militarily to NATO destabilization of Ukraine. Sometime around New Year's 2009 Nudelman, Kagan, Soros and McCain probably cracked a bottle of champagne and joked, "Look at that dumb ass nigger from Chicago who thinks he knows everything... Looks like we get a reset and do-over in Ukraine after Hitlery delivers that red nuclear launch button to Lavrov."

Just because you missed the news article six years ago doesn't mean the thousands of desk jockeys and anal-cysts that US government pays specifically not to miss the headline and write a summary for their superiors also missed it.

The idea I like most for an air force is one that is comprised of 100 million mass produced mini-drones that deliver free pizza and beer to the enemy. Mig 35s in Canada?

That would be a great idea, they would cost about 1/100th of the cost of the F35s our Conservative government has been trying to buy and they'll actually work.  We could buy 10x the planes for our Air Force that we were goingto buy and have some money left over to balance the budget.  Maybe they'd throw in some S-300 missile systems too and we'd be in much better shape as a country as we are now.

18 jets in Eastern Europe?

Just something that some mid-level State Department hacks learned playing board games in diplomacy school.

Nothing to do with reality anymore.

The U.S. military is hollowed out.

Obama's teleprompter tells him that ISIS is really dangerous and doing bad things, and Obama looks stern and says "someone ought to do something", but WE are not putting any boots on the ground.  "Someone else save us!"

Obamba is releasing really dangerous bad guys from Guantanamo, and letting suicide "bombers" with Ebola bombs shove Ebola infected "Dreamer" children across the U.S. southern border and "relocate" them into "foster care" in big cities.

Chicom hackers are spreading computer viruses and malware which, at any moment, could disable most of the PC's used by businesses in the world.

The combat aircrews on Putin's doorstep in eastern Europe are probably safer there than their counterparts in the U.S.

Sad but true.  I do not watch TV or Hollywood's shit and have not for years.  The other day I got a letter asking for money for wounded warriors (you know the phony support the troops BS - which really means support endless war).

I did not open it but I felt bad for the American kids killed, blown up, maimed and destroyed for life.  Sadly - no one learned from Vietnam or Korea, etc.    These poor kids bought the lie and so did their parents.

On you tube, they have a video with Fletcher Prouty who was Mr. X in the JFK movie.  His general boos was the one probably running that JFK show.  Prouty said after WW2 there was a huge build up of weapons after Japan surrendered.  He asked some shipping sargent or officer if the stuff was going back to America.  He said no.  Some of it was going to Korea and some was going to Indo China aka Vietnam.  These wars were planned in advance.

The USA Military cannot field an army to fight Russia and should not anyway.  The USA is becoming a bankrupt hellhole filled with feral illiterates.  The enemy to Americans is in Washington DC.

Oh wow, 18 jets. Really shocking. That is really gonna stop the Russian air force.

As much as I hate the one sided news coverage in the West, this according to ZH supposed 'threat' to Russia is a joke. Besides, during the Cold War it was estimated that an average NATO pilot would have a 10% chance of surviving his first ten missions. I don't think it will be any better now.

But there is a point. While the US/EU/NATO interference in Ukraine gave Putin the opportunity to take Crimea and interfere in Eastern Ukraine, him doing so gave NATO the opportunity to park its hardware right on Putin's doorstep. While NATO might mourn over the loss of Crimea and hence control over the Black Sea (an unattainable wet dream anyway), NATO got what it wanted for a long time: a motive for putting troops and hardware in Eastern Europe.

The Russians have little to fear from NATo fighter squadrons. Fighter jets can only be 'impressive' against relatively local targets or in dog-fights with other fighter aircraft. They can be shot down relatively easily with multiply supersonic missiles, or even ignored.

The other big-stick are supposed to be ABM batteries sited at/near Russian borgers. The magician's principal trick is always distraction and mis-direction.

By making an 'issue' of NATO/US ABMs, Russia encourages NATO/US to think they (really) matter and change the balance of deterrence - good, that makes them irrelevant. Russia wouldn't deploy ICBMs - they serve the same function as Birmarck and Tirpitz did as 'capital' ships in WW2 - distract and tie-up resources.

Russian nuclear powered and nuclear armed submarines will be immune (more or less) to continental USA-based ABM systems.  A ring of ABMs 'pointing out' from US territory will still guarantee massive radiological and explosive nuclear destruction to the US - where are most centres of population/industry/military based? Within 100 miles of the coast.

Did I mention jamming yet? Do you think that aircraft based signals/detection/guidance jamming technology that 'downed USS Donald Cook is restricted to only aircraft? Russian subs do that too.

The encircelment theory is only effective in the minds of hubristic 5-stars and incompetent advisors who take their guidance from Russian 'outrage' at NATO incursions. They're being played.

With all the real problems in the world why can't Obama just let go. As time goes by Putin continues to rack up more points in the Ukraine as the conflict drags on. Things appear to have quieted down to many as the eyes of the world have moved to more pressing issues, but the war continues and Putin is playing the long game by grinding away at the resolve of both bankrupt Kiev and the EU. A recently signed deal for gas supplies to Ukraine was a sign of hope to many, but it only highlights the devil of any agreement is in the details.

The Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said any resumed supplies could be halted again on Jan. 1 if Ukraine doesn’t pay $3.1 billion in debt prepay for future deliveries. It appears this deal is tenuous and the guarantees of it being fulfilled are weak. Don't hold your breath for Putin to back-off or back-down, he has put down his marker and is now playing both Obama and Kerry for fools in a contest that may cost Russia little. If Putin doesn't get his way next week he will next month or next year at the latest. This conflict won't be over until Putin says its over.

Its not like they spent decades as occupied territory or anything. Oh wait, nevermind.

I'd be shaking in my boots.  That is if I didn't have an air force.

Obama and his puppet masters Soros and Company, are trying really hard to fuck the American people from within.  And now it appears, from without as well.   The assholes are trying to provoke Putin into defending his country's national interests.

So what, all Russia needs to do is cut of Hormuz and attack Saudi Arabia. and maybe some subs near Greece and Mexico.

But these Nato-madness just has a different target: Us, because we all should be distracted to not look at the situation right next to us.

Listen Cornelius,

ZH manager: Here's what I want. I want a way to create a "CREDIBLE" ZH identity within minutes.

Meaning, I want a screen where you just enter a username and in the background it makes me at least 4 years old with 10 - 50 comments per day on a 4 to 6 day schedule. Make it fucking random. Inject the comments into the old dialogs meaning, overwrite an old username with mine or add some random comment and give me lots of greenies and 1 or 2 reds.

Con you do it son?

Corny: Yes I can!
