When it comes to interesting comments on how society is changing. In mid July of 2008 an article by James Grant appeared in the Wall Street Journal titled "Why No Outrage?". In the article Grant writes about how the turmoil and problems in the financial sector would in the past created a huge outpouring of anger from the public.
Now it seems that we are numb and powerless to respond, words like stupid and lazy come to mind. Silent and safe within the the huddled mass it is more comfortable to move with the crowd. The article delves into why we just can't get around to becoming outraged.

You left out the part where you pour gasoline on the shelter and light it up!!
A while back I stumbled upon a blog on WordPress .com written by Gerry Spence who was born and educated in the small towns of Wyoming where he has practiced law for almost fifty-five years. Spence has spent his lifetime representing and protecting victims of the legal system from what he calls The New Slave Master: big corporations and big government.
Below is part of a post Spence published, he uses the line, "With its endless propaganda the Moneyed Master has caused its slaves to believe they are free." I agree with him, and also contend that while the military-industrial complex is still massive and evil we must now focus on our new worse enemy, in a nut shell we must also watch out for the "Government-Financial Complex".

Knight talking to Rook “…this is a ground floor opportunity. Look at all those pawns out there without umbrellas…”
Dont pee on my leg and tell me its raining.
White on the right, William Bonzai.
Everyone is a pawn until they are in a position of significant influence. Influence comes through wealth or being a prominent politician. Thankfully although the middle class is deteriorating upward mobility is not entirely dead but it is significantly harder to move up. Unfortunately life is a game whether you like it or not and personally I'm in it to win.
"Your Grace, doesn't that rook look like he's wearing a suicde vest?"
