2,200 National Guard Troops To Be Deployed In Ferguson Tonight, Up From 700
While last night's events in Ferguson raised many eyebrows over the decision to release the Jury decision late into the night, and even more tempers, as rampant destruction and looting quickly became the means by locals express their indignation with the US judicial system, some say they could have been worse. Still, just to make sure the second night of the Ferguson protests is not a replica of what happened yesterday, moment ago Missouri governor Jay Nixon announced he would dispatch a massive 2,200 national guard troops, up from 700 on Monday night: a presence that is set to make the city resembles an all out warzone. One can only hope the similarities end there.
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon says more than 2,200 National Guardsmen will be in place in the region near Ferguson on Tuesday night in the event of more violence.
He said Tuesday that hundreds more will be deployed to Ferguson, where fires and looting erupted Monday night after word that a grand jury decided not to indict a white police officer who fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown.
The rest will be in a position to respond rapidly, if needed.
Nixon says 700 guardsmen were in the area on Monday night, when more than a dozen buildings were set on fire and otherwise vandalized.
Ferguson's mayor said earlier in the day that the National Guard wasn't deployed quickly enough as violent protests broke out.

According to Wiki- 2000 census Ferguson was 52.4% black, 44.8 % white, and 1.2% other. The Grand Jury was 9 white (75%) and 3 black (25%). Why did the Grand Jury not mirror the population of Ferguson? As you can see, it did not! More recent census numbers would probably show an even greater percentage of black citizens.
Considering the 2000 census information 6 black and 6 white citizens would be better balanced. But, the newest census information may give 7 black and 5 white.

Given that it's meant to be a jury of his peers (i.e. Wilson's) I think a different conclusion has been suggested as to the appropriate make-up of the jury.
Still - this is ridiculous. If our country had a national image and idea worth educating and refining, then citizens would be able to judge fellow citizens straight and fair. The Constitutional proclamation of peers means peers in the nation-sense. That is not what the country is these days. It has become a conconction of various distinct and intersecting categories, arranged and promoted by academics and preachers of division. The only spring of power among the disenfrachised masses is the lowest point in the race/gender/ethnicity landscape that the water will run to. That is, it's always someone else's fault on the diverse spectrum of America.
Thus, the national identity becomes one of blaming the other, where none is a peer.
They frown on folks, while serving time, also serving on a jury. This can have a limiting effect on a particular demographic group which may have a considerable percentage of it's members incarcerated. The one advantage of being a convicted felon is that you no longer need worry about being called in for jury duty.
That proportion is what the county as a whole is, but why should it matter the color of the jurors? If we are a nation of laws, as our esteemed prez says, then justice should be blind and it shouldn't matter the color.
So every case now should be determined based on race? That's TPTB thinking right there, and while we debate about irrelevant stuff like this they rob us all blind.
