From what I hear, the use of chips/computer technology in guns is coming (even in the civilian part of the market).  It's just not here quite yet.

Unfortunate, but probably is coming. So are they going to try to make it mandatory to 'upgrade' the hundreds of millions of privately owned guns in the country? Good luck with that....

If computers, phones and cameras are anything to go by, computerised guns should be avoided like the plague.

Just about to shoot something / someone and then you have to wait for the damn thing to turn on.  Squeeze the trigger, just about to fire and then suddenly it pauses and starts downloading one of 224 updates.

On the plus side, you get time to cool down and think about whether or not that sucker really is worth a bullet (or a cage), plus the "victim" gets a chance to escape.

Squeeze the trigger and a message appears on the screen:  "We have the new SuperX-Ploding bullet for 25% more damage.  Would you like to upgrade?"

Yep, because lead just can't work without electronics. Wonder how hard it will be to remove the electronic parts? Will a simple dunk in water do it, or will you need to 3d print replacements?

It will be trivial to remove these measures as long as the gun relies on a percussion system.  Then again they can always make it a criminal offense to bypass any electronic safety measure.  DMCA is coming to your guns people.

Done?  Are you suggesting that having a 700 billion dollar cash buffer is "done"?

Can I be "done" too?

If you can't make money streaming or mailing movies to Americans so they don't even have to leave the house, you just can't make money.

I shit you not, no exaggeration:  In my country, the "download a video" stream is sooooooo slow that it is quicker just to get in your car, drive down to the video shop, sift through the movies and hire one.  And the expense is no different.

Errr, WAS quicker.  And more entertaining.  A lot of video shops have closed down, much to my distress.  I couldn't save them all single-handed.

Tyler has travelled back in time to bring us knowledge on MSFT.  Unfortunately now we are in a temporal paradox.

Yellen is bullish though, so no worries: the Fed is going to run some Relativistic QE and fix the distortion in the space-time continuum.

Nothing says efficient market like the largest market cap company in the world adding 20% in a fucking month and 50% in a year

I would pay cash money just to see the apple cult disappear from the face of the earth. It's just another sign of the times that a fetish product maker is the most valued company on earth.

The other day a direct tv sales person called trying to get me signed back up. I told him I now have netflix at 8 bucks a month and there was no way I would be paying 50 to 100 dollars a month again. He said but you won't be able access content which was nonsense as I still have local channels. I know they (big cable and satellite) fear and hate netflix, which is understandable. I told him if they had given me the choice of channels (a la cart) instead of shoving the oprah channel down my throat I might have stayed. As he kept talking I hung up. Seems to me they should shut the fuck up and start listening to their customer base more, instead of telling me what I wanted. hehehe.

"And has entirely decoupled from its MSFT analog..."

I have to admit I was wrong about that one.  I was one of those calling for a Microsoft-like flattening after AAPL fell precipitously from it's $750/share peak.  It worked like a charm for a year or so.  I missed the run-back-up the last year, not that I didn't hold any of it, but I was definitely not overweight.

If anything fell apart it was probably that AAPL never traded at the ridiculous P/E like MSFT did at it's peak.  Sure, AAPL hit a market cap bigger than Exxon, but the P/E was never 40:1 or 400:1 or 4000:1 like the "Dot Com 2.0" stocks trade.

Economist Michael Hudson pointed out during the MMT conference in Italy that the value of NY city real estate now exceeds the total value of all US industrial plant and equipment.  If true - and I presume it is - look out when it unwinds...
