Caught On Tape: Car Ploughs Into Demonstrators During Ferguson Rally In Minneapolis
Suddenly the countrywide Ferguson protests, which today had progressed peacefully at least until now, took a turn for the ugly, when as the Star Tribune reported moments ago, A vehicle plowed through a group of demonstrators in Minneapolis several hours ago during a march and rally in the wake of last night's grand jury decision.
Star Tribune has the details: "A solidarity rally and march for Michael Brown, who was killed by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, was planned for 4:30 p.m. near the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd Precinct building at E. Lake Street and Minnehaha Avenue. A Star Tribune reporter who was at the rally says that witnesses say the vehicle started honking at protesters blocking the intersection before running down a woman."

In fact, he went out of his way to drive around another car and plow into the crowd instead of going around them like other drivers were doing. And I wonder why the Tylers selected an edited video that created the appearance that the driver reacted to the crowd swarming his vehicle, when in reality (and from a 10 second search of the internet), the full video shows that he went out of his way to drive around another car and deliberately plowed into a crowd of people.

This driver committed attempted murder because he didn't want to be inconvenienced by some protesters. And ZH lit the fire of hatred among the posters here, and got lots of clicks and comments. Like you said, the public (in this case ZH) gets what it wants. Can't challenge the base I guess. Too bad, because the thing I loved about ZH before it was sold to whomever these guys are that are running it now, is that it challenged everything.

When the journalist edits video to create an impression/make a point, it's time to move on.

Having lived in Minneapolis, I can assure you that most of those protestors were not blacks but mainly angry white leftists with a radical agenda who were pissed off that a car would dare to be in the way of their protests. They would have beaten that driver to death if they had a chance.

The protesters were deliberately blocking the busy intersection of Lake Street and Hiawatha. The driver looked to be inching the vehicle through the crowd of protesters who were probably yelling obscenities and threatening the driver for trying to get through the intersection. The driver was only described as a "male" in news reports and the driver's race was not given (which more than likely means that he was not a white male.) It was reported that one woman had very minor injuries. The driver is not in custody and was not ticketed.

Watched the video linked above. The women in the red jacket who was trapped under the front wheel first attempted to stop the slowing moving vehicle along with several others by jumping the the hood. She then fell off on her own (physical or mental competence isn't a strong point of libtards) and got trapped under the wheel. The other "protesters" then proceeded to swarm the stopped vehicle until some were pulled away by the authorities allowing the vehicle to continue. The woman was obviously unharmed as the vehicle was stopped for the full time she was under it. The driven prudently tried to get away from these nuts as any sane person would have done. The driver will never be cited since the "protesters" initiated the action by jumping on the hood in the first place. They need to confine their protest to the sidewalks for their own safety.
And LTER, don't let the door hit you on your ass as you finally take my advice from long ago and exit to the Huffington Post where you won't have to contend with those who can draw their own conclusions from the video evidence.

The driver got out of his car beat the banger to a pulp and dragged him to the side of the road and drove away while two women protested and attempted to slap him.

This is the central problem of so-called "cultures of honor" which still rule in the inner cities and are remnants of our atavistic past. Its equivalent to the well known marshmellow test which accurately predicts whether a young child has the the self-control to delay gratification. These child-like primative cultures such as the Europeans encountered in Africa act first and think and plan later. That's a tremendous disadvantage in a modern high tech world where the ability to forsee consequences and act accordingly (e.g. eschewing debt, working and saving, building rather than burning and destroying) determine whether your country is more like Norway or Nigeria. We in the West gave up the law of revenge and violence for the rule of law (and lost some freedom & anarchy too). Africa and Afroamericans, not so much as the murder rate in the inner cities shows.
And here's an example of the ability to model the future: how will these protests change the grand jury decision or future ones? This decision was based on the current law and upon the sound evidence that the officer feared for his life and thus was allowed the most fundamental of human rights, self defense.

Did you actually watch the videos linked? I greatly doubt it as I watched both from both the air and ground level sequences (the latter shows more detail). The women fell off while trying to climb onto the slowly moving vehicle along with several other so-called "protesters" all of whom where trying to stop the vehicle illegally by jumping on its hood. Temporal order is very importent. The cause of her being trapped was her attempt to climb onto the car's hood. The effect of her actions was to get trapped under the car when she fell off.
The cause of Officer Wilsons use of deadly force was the pummeling he received inside his police car by the 6'2", 300 lb "teenager". The effect (following the cause) was his death as he later charged the officer. Yeah, he was unarmed, but anyone in the same situation would have blown him away. Anyone whose car was being pummeled by a mob should also try to get away even if it meant running over those who are attempting to stop your escape from the mob. Don't forget the Rodney King terrorists and what they did to those unarmed or unable to flee.
Remember, cause always proceeds effect in time. That's the key to drawing correct causal conclusions. Self defense is always the most fundamental right and thus the 2d amendment the most important in the bill of rights.

It took me literally seconds on google to find the unedited video that showed without doubt that the driver was not under any threat, and decided to plow into the crowd rather than go around it.

Here's the full video. The car approaches the protesters blocking it. The car is then swarmed and two people seem to jump on its hood. Driver panics and hits the gas.
The car approaches another car. Other cars are going around the protestors. Driver could do the same, but instead drives towards the protestors. Driver decides to say fuck it, and drives into the protestors. He runs into people that don't get out of his way. He drives over someone, then stops. Then he is swarmed. He then panics and runs over someone else. What video are you watching?
Of course the driver should have avoided the crowd, that's what I would have done. But it seems pretty clear that people jumped on the car before the driver hit the gas. When it started moving and emerged (slowly) through the crowd there were two people on the hood. The car wasn't going fast enough at that point to scoop them up. It's also clear that people approached the car immediately when it arrived, not just after the driver hit the gas. So it seems that the driver made a mistake by approaching the protesters but the protesters swarmed and jumped on the car without provocation.
Well at least this is what it looks like at this point. I may be wrong because it's hard to see through the crowd in this video. However, it's absolutely clear that your interpretation is unwarranted and your "the driver is at fault because he didn't go around" argument does not excuse what the protesters did. People's views influence what they see and I think that's what happened here with you. I don't think this was a deliberate attempt ad disinfo from you but you certainly projected your views on this event.

The car is swarmed immediately when it approaches the crowd (6-8 seconds into the video) - before the driver hits the gas. He obviously intended to push his way through, this being a street and all I guess. But he didn't start plowing through the crowd until after he got swarmed. What we have here is a super frustrated and stubborn (and maybe stupid) driver and a hostile animalistic crowd. This is going to be repeated many times before this is all over, in one form or another.

This is correct. He drove around a parked car then aproached the crowed. He sat there, unmolested, for a few seconds before driving through the crowed. The operator of the car is guilty of assault with a deadly weapon, with the intent to bodily harm, which could result in death. Multiple counts as well.

Pedestrians ALWAYS have the right of way over drivers. Even if they are jaywalking or violating other traffic laws, the driver still has to attempt to stop or avoid them. This car deliberately ran over people. That's not right of way at all.
The driver did the right thing. The dangerous place to be in a mob is behind another car because you are then placing your life in the hands of that driver and if for any reason the other driver doesn't move then you are a fucked sitting duck and TRAPPED. Some of the people attacked in the Rodney King riots were attacked after their car got stuck behind another because they stuck to the one lane (on a multi lane road).
Too many examples of black people (and some white) thinking it is OK to play chicken with traffic and then getting angry if whitey doesn't brake for them. The crowds chose to go onto the roadway and if they then get run over that was their Darwin Award moment.

I have a feeling that the NEXT time those protesters wanna protest, they will stay out of the damn street.

There have been similar incidents in the recent past, including video of the cars being attacked before the hit and run takes place -- usually they don't persue charges. It would be very difficult to prosecute against a claim of self defense once the video is shown to a jury and the defense claims the person was in fear for their life.
Basic rule of thumb is if you're part of a group attacking someone or something, don't expect the law to swoop in and take your side, regardless of color. DAs hate to lose cases and riot-type behaviour means they'll lose every self-defense case they attempt, at least until they eliminate jury trials. The moment one juror can imagine himself in the same situation and doing the same thing, the trial is over.

There's been many. One happened at comic con earlier this year , and there was the NYC biker gang attack as well.
The comic con blog I linked to is a law professor's read on the legalities, and he points out that once self defense is involved, even if the person "defending" themselves is doing it mistakenly, it opens a big safety net for them.
FYI so far at least 8 have been charged in the gang attack in NY, including the undercover cop that was present.

They could be looking at this as an opportunity to placate the unruling pavement apes, and throw the book at this unfortunate individual in a purely political type move.
