Forget Ferguson, 244 Teenagers Have Been Shot In Chicago Since Michael Brown Died
While the events down in Ferguson play out, back in Chicagoland, HeyJackass reports that the same old bullshit continues day in and day out with nary a peep. In the 107 days since officer Darren Wilson shot and killed 18 year old Michael Brown – 12:03pm, Saturday, August 9th – the following stupidity has taken place in Chicago:
- 155 homicides (74% black males)
- 725 shot & wounded
- Six (6) 18 year olds killed: Kawantis Montgomery, Kamaal Burton, Tony McIntos, Alexandra Burgos, Rayvon Little, Johnathan Cartwright
- 59 18 year olds shot & wounded
- 29 teenagers (13-19) killed
- 244 teenagers (13-19) shot and wounded
- 10 shot (5 killed) by the CPD
Brutal, yet incredibly asinine and absurd to say the least.
So what is it about these stats that hasn’t caused people to lose their collective shit?
After all, there have been plenty of opportunities to march, chant, throw shit, break stuff, come up with a hashtag, etc… in the past few months, not only in Chicago, but all over the nation. So where is the national media? The cable news talking heads? The race pimpin’ super duo of Jesse and Al? The professional agitators and social justice warriors? The exploiting politicians? Almost 900 shootings and homicides in the past three months and not one is worthy of their attention.
Someone from ‘round these parts once said “never let a crisis go to waste”. Apparently these stats aren’t crisis-y enough.

Does anyone think media like CNN and MSNBC need to be held accountable for inciting much of this violence? Creating an atmosphere by misreporting the case details throughout. It's almost like they are promoting the whole thing like they would a commercial product.
Since one of the biggest race baiter Rev. Al Sharpton works directly for MSNBC do they not have serious culpability as well? The evidence is pretty compelling and overwhelmingly against Brown I don't see how you can look at it any other way. When you stick your face into a police car and grab a cops gun during the confrontation what the hell do you think will happen? This doesn't even take into account the earlier convenient store thievery. I'm sorry but the black community is in denial on this case.
I'm sure that racism happens and cops make mistakes quite often but I just don't see it here at all. I get the feeling the media is just disappointed the case is now closed and they can get more ratings off of the story.

The social bandaid of welfare is at least partially responsible for this, it causes people to lose faith in themselves, make excuses and never put in effort. It's easier for those with a crippled view of their options to never try rather than to try and be humiliated. There is no shame in welfare when all your peers are on it and all your neighborhood "successful" are slanging drugs and taking government the gov dole. Welfare is a weapon.

I think the difference is that people (mistakenly) expect justice from the political system. A murder committed by a street thug isn't really a threat to civilization, however senseless or tragic it may be. But state sanctioned murder is a threat to the existence of civil society. And the black people in this country believe, for a lot of good reason, that their families are victimized by state sanctioned murder on a regular basis.

To respond to your vulgarly worded question, the politicians in America have responded to the gang violence by enacting tougher gun laws which has increased the imbalance of power. The exacerbated power imbalance has lead to increased violence. American violence statistics are inflated by centers of high gang activity. If recreational drugs were decriminalized it would reduce the profit in the industry and take the power out of the hands of the gangs. This is what happened with the end of alcohol prohibition. It would also reduce the incarceration rate.
Fire arms in the hands of common citizenry is benign.

America doesn't have the worlds highest gun ownership rate. Although it has more guns per head of population those guns are owned in most cases by people who own multiple guns.
Most American homes don't have a single gun (or access to a gun). Overseas however it is common in several countries for most homes to either have a gun or access to a gun (not unusual in Switzerland for military type firearms to be stored in the village armory). Those countries also have lower levels of gun crime than countries where guns are banned.
The parts of America where there are many to most homes owning guns are also the areas with the most decent folk and the least crime. So it isn't Tombstone circa 1880 but Mayberry circa 1950.
I'd like to see a National statistic that shows private firearms in the range of 350-400 million all in private hands.

My husband's uncle was CPD. This article does not surprise me one bit. His uncle told us stories that would make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. He told us the truth. And he told us in no uncertain terms to stay away from CPD.
And there is a very high percentage of black cops (24 - 50% depending on rank) in Chicago and they are often accused of police brutality. Merely having a high percent of black police does nothing to alter black on black crime, obviously. This is in response to accusing the Ferguson police of having too small a proportion of black cops. Chicago also has a high rate of unsolved crimes - no doubt partly due to the hiring of police for affirmative action reasons rather than talent.

Can't report this stuff when Chicago has among the strictest gun laws. If this was in Texas or New Hampshire or any number of other places, it would be splattered all over sheep TV.
