Virginia of Dundee , NY on Nov. 17, 2014 Satisfaction Rating1/5Applied for loan modification, went back and forth with lost documents, run around for approx 2 yrs. I received a knock at the door. Chase was starting foreclosure process. I sought help from local Housing council. (Chase looked at them like pee-ons and still gave us run around telling me I didn't qualify for payment option so much down then so much added on to regular monthly payments.) They also said, "We will just send the money back to you" when I told them I was gonna send them lump sum anyway. Denied mods AFTER trial payments, not once but twice. I wrote to NYS Banking Association, (Chase looked at them a little more serious, but not much) gave me a ridiculous balloon payment mod that no one could explain where it came from, not Chase, not the Housing Council and the rep said, "Just sign it and worry about the balloon when the time comes."
After 4 YRS of run around, Chase finally takes me to court. I stopped making repairs 2 years ago. My significant other and I finally split after 17 YRS. I move to a low income apartment when one came available and because my utility expenses are too high, my furnace is acting up and winter is quickly approaching. The final day in court, Nov 8, 2013 and Chase comes back with yet another ridiculous Mod (after trial payments of course). I refuse offer. I receive settlement offer. Chase wants me to reapply for mod. House is still in foreclosure limbo. I opted out of the national settlement for 1 big reason. In April 2013, Chase SOLD the servicing of my loan and settlement clearly stated I was no longer eligible because of it.
Aug 2014, Chase rep calls (Again) asking me what my intentions were for the mod they offered. WHAT? Explained to her about court, tells me house has "FALLEN" out of foreclosure, and wants me to apply for yet another MODIFICATION. I tell the lady, "I'm not going to do anything. I don't live there anymore but allow my 30 yr old son to stay there." Oct 2014 Chase has released the mortgage but I still owe them the original amount plus 5 yrs 7 month of their "Lost interest." Interest, that would not have been lost, if Chase had handled the MODIFICATION process, in a TIMELY manner. Now I may be stuck with a house that needs MAJOR repair, that I can't afford.
I will have to move because the house will be an "Asset" causing me to be over the income guidelines. Problem is it's winter again, the furnace doesn't work, the hot water tank barely works (my son put an old one in). I'm a single mother, unemployed. The house is barely liveable, has been vandalized and vagrants have been suspected of staying there (which is why my Son stays there, security) oh and there are no appliances. My only mistake, APPLYING FOR A HOME MODIFICATION, to begin with.
