~I~ along with the ultra-legendary Jesus have never 'sinned.'

Thatsafactjack. Never, never have I sinned, not even a little sin.

Get ready for the caveat.

There is no such thing as sin. There is legal and illegal, moral and immoral, ethical and unethical, but no such thing as sin, unless you are besotted by religion.

In Hell you will not be asking anybody anything as you will just be with the tormentor.

As for your self righteousmess and self justification those are just the hallmarks of your arrogance.

You shall be humbled when you fear your demise.

Know the Lord of Eternal Justice and you shall not know fear. However if you do not know the Lord of Eternal Justice then you shall only know fear.

In that I do feel sorry for you as you are most fearful.

Nothing wrong with ravioli!

"Easy-open" tins of ravioli were an essential part of my backpacking kit in days of yore. If you are capacity - limited for cooking (as you will be when back-packing) a mix of tinned peas and tinned ravioli heated in ye olde billy can makes a satisfying, substantial, and QUICK meal.

Mind you from what I hear every day in "Spoilt Rotten" Australia, real camping (i.e. multi-day entirely self-sufficient hiking expeditions) seems to be dropping in popularity. For many "doing it rough" means hopping (by car) from one holiday camp to another, accomodation being rented chalets with ALL the comforts of home, right down to ducted a/c and cable t.v.

Nobody wants to be responsible for their actions..., they just want."

It's got nothing to do with liberalism.  Conservatives are just as liberal when it comes to no repsonsibility or wanting.  They're just more "pious" about it on the outside.....just like a Southern Baptist who likes to sneak a little dancing and drinking on the down low on Friday night......but yells "AMEN, PREACHER !! The future looks even more bright!

As a marketeer, I've studied kids psychology and man... Kids are now behaving and talking like advertising and apply marketing tricks on each other because of a total lack of human interaction that a normal person got when we where growing up.

If you hink you've got problems to talking to young kids now... Just wait another 10 years and watch how shallow the new generation will be.

And the lemming mentality?
Kids kill themselves if they can't walk in line with the rest. We used to be called pubering rebels and liked it... They now kill themselves...
The latest generation is as mentally unstable as can be...
For now the media blames the bullies but it's not their fault. It's the parents who simply don't exist and the social media advertising agencies who are to blame. The media has even stopped reporting on the suicides because there's to many and there's a serious copycat mentality in what to do when you're unhappy.

We teach them to hate themselves. Of course they don't have bling and supercars and hot chicks and the latest sneakers but if/when you don't you're told you're a loser. And since we took away any chance of getting all that, they run out of hope.

Wouldn't it be great if we taught them instead that being kind and smart was the ultimate cool. Instead it's "get rich or die trying". Sick.

Perdue did not love his chickens, he used them. The world does not love you, it uses you. The media does not love you, it uses you. The government does not love you, it uses you. All your fellow children do not love you, they want the love for themselves. Same old cruel world.

Look at these fashion advertising images...the crafting of todays advertising and music media would not have passed censorship laws when I was a kid, today youngsters are overloaded with this horror. How can model playing dead or passed out, be considered a great advertisement of a dress? Obviously broader ulterior motives are at play.

In 1970 I took a job running the toy dept at the local Macy's. There was a 'White Sale' going on in the linen dept and the maneger for that dept asked me if I'd give him a hand taking the boxes out from under the tables and putting the sheets, pillow cases, etc onto the tables that were running low on merchandise.

The tables were draped to keep the reserve stock out of sight. When I knelt down to start the task as soon as the women saw there were more goodies to be had a riot broke out. I was pushed to the floor and literally trampled by the crowd. They even stepped on my hands as I tried to crawl away.

It's kind of funny how people tend to think of this behavior as 'recent'. I experienced the same sort of animalistic behavior 44 years ago. Yes, it's gotten worse, but now it gets 'ratings'...

50 years ago. Filenes Basement in Boston would mark stuff down 25% every 30 days it was there. @ 3 months it was 25% of what it sold for upstairs.

Women would actually strip and try on bras right on the floor.

Mom made me go with her shopping before I was in school. I had to turn around because the tits were flying everywhere. Women would fight over stuff with hair-pulling and wrestling until the store cop broke it up.

No wonder my psyche is so damaged by a breast fetish.

I still suffer to this day.

Sadly, the math is wrong there.  Compounded discount at 3 months won't get you to 25% of the original price if there is a 25% discount every 30 days.  You'll get to 42.18% of the original price.

More proof that tricks with mathematics can make women strip.

Good point and reminder.

Anyway, the comments in this thread highlighted the biggest point that NO one yet realized: Population Density Stress.

You see, the 2 links below is about the Sika Deer population of James Island, Maryland.

The remarkable feature in the collapse of the Sika deer population on James Island, Maryland, was that they were well-nourished, safe from predators, and parasite free at the time.

However their growth was also found to have been significantly inhibited. This inhibition was shown by autopsy to have been induced by behavioral stress associated with high population density.

In 1977, subsequent research into human stress showed how population pressure released a similar suite of hormones to those seen in other mammals. – Reg Morison

So, here we find ourselves talking about some folks fighting over some electric gadget. Not crucial gadgets in any aspect for our survival.

However, try to imagine, 2027, and we have less than half of the oil we have now… if not less than half. And our food production and distribution alone will be taking more than half of that oil then.

What do you think these folks ‘us’ will be doing, then?

Anyway, these are the ‘Keys’ moving forward, I believe:

1) Electricity

2) Underground fresh water

3) Tropical and/or Sub-tropical weather

4) Food sufficient. So, if you have 2 and 3 you’re more than half way there

5) And the least, and the furthest away of any urbanized area

Good luck.

EI; No Gold, Silver, or Investment, or hedge on Inflation? I'm not much of an investor and don't think Treasury TIPS do much good.

But yes, Concrete & Brick House for Shelter, A Wall to block the view of your property from the Road, Maybe a bus stop near by, pen area for small animals for food or trade, some fruit trees, good soil, natural springs nearby, ...but think above 8,000 feet the litters, eggs, and crop yield may drop off.

Anyway near the Equator you can live in the mountains to stay cooler and probably still access good food sources. Although driving around a bit am surprised lots of land off the road is dry, sandy, hard... lots of micro climates. Also travel is very hard in mountainous areas. You really learn the value of good roads, and even hiking trails.

Recently learned why Wagon Trains in USA's Pilgrim days or Westward Movement had to use trails and the right trails... you can't really walk on the prairie or any kind of terrain with out trails of some kind.

Camping teaches us how living without lights & electricity gets old fast. Nice thing about being near the Equator is the days are always long.

@EI

"2027, and we have less than half of the oil we have now… if not less than half."

Which is exactly why we had a subprime housing bubble bust and a triple-dip recession for desert.

Less demand for oil since 2009 and even less today.  I wonder whether $40 bbl oil will kick start demand or whether TPTB will raise the price of oil as soon as the last consumer hits his credit card limit on Christmas Eve?

Sun, 11/30/2014 - 10:56 | 5501223 Escrava Isaura
Escrava Isaura's picture

The housing sub-prime has nothing to do with oil. The sub-prime had to do with constant need to inflate our economic model so, it won’t collapse. Obamacare and student loans are other examples; but there are many more.

Very soon, financially speaking, trying to inflate will backfire because for each $1 dollar of new debt created, it won’t generate $1 dollar of growth. Here’s when the dollar collapses because the debt will have to be written down.

The problem with oil is that THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTION. And there are thousands of products depended on oil. Women’s makeup is one of them.

The race tensions that you are reading at this post by Zero Hedge are just a microscopic view of the big human reaction that will be happening when desperation sets in:

Blaming others (demagoguery),

Total disregard for science and facts (rise of ignorance),

Endless positive thinking (entitlement) by our massmedia and education systems

While looking for easy solutions and answers (religion/mysticism delusions).

All these nonsense’s will lead us to human chaos and violence, instead of anarchy.

Ignoring reality, very soon, will be proved dangerous.

But it did!

The housing sub-prime has nothing to do with oil.

It cut demand 6 years ago and thereby lengthened the time that the existing supply will last.

The people who plotted and planned it, knew moar about the eventual shortage and decided to do something about it before you figured it out.

You may be sharp, but you're not the sharpest.

Where would we have got the word Philistine to describe people like you and their attitude toward artists like Pete Seeger and his song "Turn!Turn!Turn". Blues>Rock and Roll

This was pretty much a direct progression.

While the blues is a big genre, there is certainly something to the fact that the genre is named for songs that express sorrow or suffering.

Black guys singing about misery, in other words, gave birth to rock and roll, and most 80's pop music was still rock, or punk and new wave, offshoots of rock.

If you weren't around in 1983, you wouldn't understand. I was, and I still don't get somethings about that time. But for the most part, just understand this: The 1960s ushered in the America that we know today in full bloom. The 1980s was the last remnants of the old America that still had a shred of decency and class. Here is a clue: Did you see the black guy in the video from 1983? No dreadlocks, pants weren't down below his hip, exposing his boxers, and he could speak and be understood by all. The 1990s was the end of the line for our culture. That was when the "urban culture" {to put it nicely} took root.

Charlotte Iserbyt was in Education or Reagan's Staff in the 1980s... She has made some videos over the years and is like 70 years old now. She claimed there was a Purpose in the Department of Education to Dumb down America. She took it to Ronald Reagan and told him. But if he understood, he did not take effective action.

Well that is just one area that changed in USA if True as she Describes it.

1979 was the Top for US Manufacturing and Compensation probably. So I would say young people got out of the house got jobs in the 1970s, felt like men & Women, felt independent instead of part of some machine like a cog that wasn't allowed to grow, learn or take on more responsibility.

Could be the older Generation started protecting information & Job Positions from younger people who wanted more possessions, more money, but hadn't had the military experience or conservative values of the Baby Boomers. I think Gray hair guys saw lots of competition from Women and young people and so held back teaching and sharing responsibility. Just a guess. Networking would have been very important in the 1980s with so much competition in the world place and the new idea of firing senior people to remove pension liability and cut labor costs which probably peaked in 1979 as Outsourcing began. Plus mergers, LBOs had big impacts on workers that lost jobs in manufacturing and heavy equipment or whatever.

Not an expert, but I feel Financing changed dramatically in the 1980s - 2014.

Expose's on Vietnam, Pentagon Papers, Watergate, and the Church Committee... proved that Free Press had to come under control of the Government and that Proxies be used for secret government work.

We had FOIA Rights, but Government has become more Secretive and less Transparent even with Cameras in Congress recording Video of the Events.

In the 1980s we had a secret war in Afghanistan, but we also were running arms, training foreign soldiers in Central America and attempting to overthrow democracies... Iran Contra.

And we never really condemned the Events of the 1960s, Abuse of Protestors, Ugly Riots, Assassinations around the World, War in Vietnam, War Profits, War Contractors, ... we didn't grow from the 1960s as a Nation. In the 1980s we were doing it all over again and creating a military industry of secrecy... or just continuing and expanding. What does secrecy do to the Family at the Individual Level? What does 50 Years of Secrecy in a Cold War do to Individuals & Societies... do we become servants? Do we become indoctrinated to recognize Authorities in Government, in Federal Agencies? In IRS, DHS, Contractor Swat Teams, Contractor Security Employees, Park Rangers?

"Anyway, I wasn’t around in 1980, so can anyone explain to me the difference?"

People were much more polite and honest. There was less cursing. Police didn't drive around in tanks and carry automatic firearms. There were fewer people in prison (but crime was higher). Music had a melody. Well-known actors and actresses did not pose for naked pictures. The president was a Christian. There were more people on welfare and fewer living on the street. TV comedies were actually funny.

The national debt stood at $908 billion. There were jobs to be had if you wanted one. The U.S. still made things. "Made in Japan" meant that it was cheap and would probably break.

Well, at least hairstyles have improved.

You really need to go back to the 50's and 60's to see the change. Back then, department stores dominated retail merchandising. Every major town over 25,000 had one (which was a family business). If you got over 100,000 people they would have two. Department stores covered about a square block and had 5 to 9 floors (with a mezzanine between floors 1 & 2) ... usually a restaurant at the top and a basement where the bargains (clearances) were. Parking garages were built across the street ... maybe with a tunnel between. Public transportation still dominated.

In the late 50's and early 60's, discount stores (big box) were coming into vogue. These "flattened" the department stores. Rather than being tall with a relatively small (1 block) footprint. The stores were one story and covered several square blocks on the outskirts of town. Construction was cheap compared to the department stores. Parking lots had as big or bigger footprint than the stores themselves. When built, they weren't served by public transportation. They were served by automobiles. And they were no longer family operations. They were corporations fashioned from earlier family enterprises that grew into corporations (e.g. mom&pop five and dime => S.S.Kresge  => KMart ).

The "well to do"s continued to trade with the department stores. We peons began to trade with the discounts. The "well to do"s wouldn't be seen in a discount store.

I understand a lot of student debt comes from post secondary students paying to go back to high school to take courses they should have taken in order to get through post secondary school.  The public school system is a totally useless service.  Guidance councillors do not give a damn or have a clue when they let kids get their credit count in courses like music, basket weaving, home eck, etc while the kid is entering programs requiring maths and science.

it would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.

There's right and wrong, a moral absolute exists. And what is right has been slowly abondoned in favor of the "progressive", "everything is premissible" agenda. The Founders were right about the need for freedom and limited government. They were also right about the Separation of Powers since all men are fallible and corruptible.

Now tell me, KS, which spectrum of the political spectrum still holds to this (and I don't mean "prefectly")???

Certainly not Obola and the Alinskyites. Fuck all the leftists.

Since you're interested in the subject you may be interested in this study...

From the Abstract:

"Each of four theoretical traditions in the study of American politics—which can be characterized as theories of Majoritarian Electoral Democracy, Economic-Elite Domination, and two types of interest-group pluralism, Majoritarian Pluralism and Biased Pluralism—offers different predictions about which sets of actors have how much influence over public policy: average citizens; economic elites; and organized interest groups, mass-based or business-oriented.

A great deal of empirical research speaks to the policy influence of one or another set of actors, but until recently it has not been possible to test these contrasting theoretical predictions against each other within a single statistical model. We report on an effort to do so, using a unique data set that includes measures of the key variables for 1,779 policy issues.

Multivariate analysis indicates that economic elites and organized groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on U.S. government policy, while average citizens and mass-based interest groups have little or no independent influence. The results provide substantial support for theories of Economic-Elite Domination and for theories of Biased Pluralism, but not for theories of Majoritarian Electoral Democracy or Majoritarian Pluralism."

Here's a link. You can buy a copy of the study if you wish for $30.

I'm getting kind of tired of hearing right libertarians (you might not even be a libertarian given your analysis, dude) rag on left libertarians.  Surely we can both focus our anger on liberals and then help change the country?  Hell, I'm not even sure I'm a left libertarian other than the fact that I respect autonomous communities to run things their own way, even if I think it's godless hippie nonsense.  You do it your way, I do it mine - but you don't get to tell me how to do mine.

You're getting downvoted because no one comes here to listen to false dichotomies that point us toward one party.  Some of us have been around long enough to have seen the lies in every cyclic electoral flip-flop from R to D to R to D when each time the other side convinces that milquetoast 10% of the population to follow their one-word slogan.  It's clear we need to hit the restart button, which also includes your preferred option.

@Fred: I wondered this as I was interacting with the kid. Clearly, the next four years present an infinite number of chances for LEOs to pull him into the prison-industrial complex. If he makes it to 18 and out of skool with some semblance of employability, he's likely to get swallowed up by whatever mission he's sent on (hard to believe what is real, coming out the kid's mouth, but apparently he's pushing Darwinian luck pretty hard, having been hit by cars four times, pinecones falling from the sky, etc., from his accounts). It is probable that the end outcome is a very young single mother who is to raise a four year old (by the time they turn 18) without a father, the kid will be put on medication, and the cycle repeats.

@knkles: None of us will be amused or joking about it when it's real in 10-15 years.

The majority (if not all) are on some type of .gov assistance and the reason they love the sales is because they can save a few dollars from their EBT and whatever other forms of "assistance" they get to stretch out those monthly gravy benefits further if they get a new TV on sale, rather than waiting (and going to work) and spending it on full price items.

2 - If your entire "income" is based on .gov bennies, then it makes sense to camp out for 22 days in front of a store before the sale starts. I believe it was a ZH article several days ago that showed 2 women camped out in front of a Best Buy somewhere in the USofAID. They didn't worry about, or bother to think about, how much money they LOST had they worked part-time for CASH during those 22 days. So they lost about $1,000 in earnings each (at the very low end of pt cash work) and substitute it with sitting on their frozen asses for 22 days at whatever the cost, for whatever useless item they want to buy.

Mind you, I wouldn't hire stupid idiots like that to clean a toilet, so they might as well camp out in front of their favorite store... and keep hoping the other working sheep don't wake up to their scam and simply "disappear" them one day soon after the true producers in this world finally get sick and tired of paying for this Idiocracy!

All the best to you ITM96, Sorry I've been absent lately. I've had a few more severe issues to deal with other than where to buy my next Kim Kartrash-ian ass poster on sale.

Cheers

Angus, the true producers of this world are plants.  You and I and the other 7.2 billion of us are just moochers, far beyond carrying capacity.

HughK: Moochers??... I was born on this fucking planet full of banksters and political thugs without my permission. And that makes me a moocher???

If I had a choice to do it over again I would give a resounding "FUCK YOU" before being born into this quagmire called humanity.

If you like your banksters, you can keep them.

If you like your politicians, you can keep them.

If you like being fucked by the above, keep it to yourself. Don't expect me to EVER AGAIN participate in your worldly games.

I think he was refering to the fact that in life systems, plants are the only real "producers" because they are turning solar energy into bio material and the rest of "us" (those which consume the products of said conversion) are "parasites".

Ah 1983, that was a good year.

How things have changed in just 30 years, and how fast they have gone downhill!

Hey Eb, 1983 was the worst year of my life, don't remind me. The best year was 1977, it rocked.  I was invincible.
