Parents Shouldn’t Replace State Propaganda With Their Own Propaganda

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Daniel Amaduri (The Dissident Dad) via Mike Krieger's Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,

I want to share with my children everything I’ve learned over these past few years as I’ve abandoned my mental and emotional slavery and embraced personal sovereignty. Defending my children from the lies of statists and oligarchs is one of the most important things I can do as a parent.

However, a healthy concern I have is that I don’t want to merely replace the state. What I mean is I don’t want to eliminate state propaganda and brainwashing and merely replace it with my own equivalent.

My intentions are good as a parent, but I never want to allow my passion and perspective to become the automatic default belief system for my children.

As a dad who is always learning and trying to find his footing in a world filled with increasing levels of madness, I have written down 3 core values for myself as a father that I read aloud everyday:

1. Teach them to think for themselves

2. Respect

3. Learn together

Teaching Them to Think
The temptation to raise fellow activists is definitely there. My son and I even made a Nevada paper a few years ago when we met Ron Paul. Since then, I’ve pushed for common sense thinking lessons, rather than alliances with any one political belief.

I have found using everyday life as learning experiences helps the process. For example, after catching some fish with my son, we had the following conversation.

Me: It’s great that you caught fish. Should we eat them or give them to the neighbor? Because I heard they like fish.

Son: No. I want to eat them (4 years old at the time).

Me: What if the neighbor comes and takes one of our fish? Would that be okay?

Son: No.

Me: If the police came and took a fish, would it be right, then?

Son (after thinking about it for a few seconds): No. That’s my fish. I caught them.

The lesson here is that stealing is wrong. It doesn’t matter whether it’s the neighbor or a cop using civil asset forfeiture.

Respect
Treat other people how you want to be treated. Respect all life; it’s all a miracle.

Show respect to all beings, even the smallest of creatures that typically get stepped on for no good reason, is a virtue that will help children to think before they cause harm. It’s also a great way to view the world. To see violence for what it is – evil.

Learn Together
What a great way to learn… learning with your children. Take them to debates, documentary movies, visit the library together, and interact with people outside your typical comfort zone whenever possible.

Most importantly, follow up on questions you don’t know the answer to. You don’t have to pretend to be the immediate authority on everything just because your child asks you something. Encourage conversations and question everything.

Raising Adults
Ultimately, your kids are going to make their own decisions. Instead of trying to train them to believe what we believe, I’m going to focus my energies on teaching them to think, even when it counters the old man’s beliefs.

Good thoughts.

When you have a conflict of wills try to negotiate a mutually acceptable solution, rather than act from a position of authority.

It is our primary job as parents to pass on a culture to our kids. Pass on the one you think best and let the marketplace of ideas sort them out. Progressive new-ager, fundamentalist Christian, or even a Krieger libertarian, teach them well and let the best world view(s) win. Just don't let the state take over your job because if everyone gets the statist view drilled into them thgen everyone will think it is correct because, after all, everyone believes it.

Somewhere along the way I learned to think for myself...and none of those world views won out.

Did I try out liberalism?  Yep.  Did I try out hippie shit?  Briefly.  Did I try out church?  Yep, the ex-wife drug me into it, it was an instand drug for her.  I just wanted to connect to something she enjoyed, but honestly I think they helped convince her to divorce me...so that lasted a couple years.

I think I might try out ISIS next, or maybe I'll join the Zios.  Lots of learning ahead of me in life, and who knows, even if I don't find out what I am maybe I'll find a whole lot more about what I'm not.

Easy answer for you.

One thing we can all agree on is that we are having some sort of experience.  Before religion, philosophy, political views.  We're having some sort of experience.  Got that?  Good.

Ok, then we have all these explainations filling the void, because we turned up here, having this experience with no guide book, no rules, nothing.

So everything you hear on 'how it is supposed to be', is someone else's idea.  Someone who is no better qualified than you to say what this experience is, exactly (hey, those people might not even exist in the same way you do).

Still with me?  Ok.  So it's your experience, and no one else's, yes?

So - do whatever the fuck you want to do.

In my experience, I have found that, like the boy with the fish, people being arseholes to me is not particularly pleasant.  If I don't want them to do it to me, I wont do it to them.

Ergo, 'do whatever the fuck you want to do' with the addendum 'try not to be a cunt' seems like a wise approach.

Everything else is rumour and bullshit.

A little bit of personal philosophy, take it or leave it (I'd suggest the latter & figure your own shit out):

It seems that something rather complex has happened to make 'me' appear, and to let 'me' have this experience.  So maybe this is important.  If that's the case, I'd better make it a good one, and unique as possible, otherwise I might as well not be here, having this experience (but that leads to a discussion about the stupidity of collectivism and we begin to stray into dangerous existentialist beard stroking, and all of a sudden you're giving a shit about opinions and reading Kierkegaard instead of just getting the fuck on with it.).

It's just a ride. It's your ride. Good luck!

Anyway, I've known from a young age that I don't think like most people.  I'm not saying that this is a good thing- it's sometimes quite difficult, actually.

Well, you hope you teach them to think and learn, and respect themselves.  "To thine own self be true" as Shakespeare said.

The greatest threat is that they believe in societal trends and propaganda versus thinking for and respecting themselves.

So many societal mind fuck spider webs for them to get stuck in; false memes, lies, sweet treats made by a witch or a warlock.

"The middle classes were proud that their property, unlike that of the inheritances of the leisured classes, sprang from character, industry, continence and thrift; and they were therefore quite certain that any one endowed with similar virtues could equal the competence which they enjoyed. Failure to achieve such a competence was in itself proof of a lack of virtue. This middle-class creed sprang so naturally from the circumstances of middle-class life that it ought perhaps, to be regarded as an illusion rather than a pretension. But when it is maintained in defiance of all the facts of an industrial civilisation, which reveal how insignificant are the factors of virtuous thrift and industry beside the factor of the disproportion in economic power in the creation of economic inequality, the element of hones illusion is transmuted into dishonest pretension."

They were proud of what they achieved but Warren and Hillary (when she is near Warren) tell people that they didn't build that or achieve that.  It is part of their communist/socialist/whatever you call it stance that no individual can or should achieve anything without the assistance and approval of the state.  Highly dangerous for any free society.

Are we talking about Biblical? Or principles? An "eye for an eye" is the kind of principle that groups like ISIS follow. Why does the f...ing Bible have to be involved? +100 Crawdaddy I side with you on this one.  Having said that we have left the teaching of values and morals up to our govenment now.  Sad times indeed.

You do not have to be religious to teach your children good morals and values.  The problem is everyone now wants to pass the monkey on their backs.  Parents want to point to the education system when their children are basically stupid undiscipline little beasts because they failed to be apart of the education and teaching their children right from wrong.  We are now a society where self reflection and critical thinking is demonized.  We are a society where the word NO is looked down upon when raising a child.  Discipline forget a bout it!

We are a society where men are portrayed as beasts, lacking responsibilty and basically lazy.  TV and the media tells you this every day.  Why get married too much hassle afterall with the exception of two TV shows all the women are successful single parents without a problem in the world. The god of consumerism has replaced God these days.  What you beleive is not my problem nor anyone elses.  We the parent need to take a cold hard look in the mirror to be honest as we are to blame.  Oh that would mean you need to take responsibility for your actions and we cannot have that today now can we.

Teaching them to think for themselves is the best thing a parent can do.

I teach my kids all the facets, sides, of the issues or topics.

Though I must admit, twice monthly viewings of the latest "caught on video" gun and badge thug treason sort of biases them toward my view.

Tonight we re-watched the thugs kill Eric Garner, and then we had a discussion on psychopaths and institutionalized theft and plunder.

During the Korean War, American POWs were subjected to intense indoctrination, pretty much the same anti-capitalist arguments dished out in every American university, and quite a few switched their allegiance to the Communists.

Turkish POWs were given the same treatment, but all the Commies got out of them was, "F*ck you, I'm Turkish, and I'm not listening to this stupid gook-talk." As children, they were not taught to think, they were taught to always support their own side.

Knowing how to think is like knowing karate -- as Pat Morita said, "Someone else always know more". It's foolish to expect your kids to become expert political philosophers; I only expect mine to know the difference between "us" and "them".

Do you people really want to live in a country where every man (and woman?) is his own philosopher-king? Is that even remotely possible?

What really happens is that some high-IQ psychopath crafts a clever, persuasive argument for some sophist ideology, and the open-minded "thinking" masses are hoodwinked into supporting it.

Tradition means a set of values that have been proven to work over the long term, and it's less vulnerable to this sort of hijacking.

MSM told us what they were going to do about 15 years ago when they formally changed their journalistic guidlelines to say they could exclude having to give both sides of issues, yet still remain nuetral.

They justified this by saying they were only obligated to give one side if they agreed with it, and felt it was "fact". Of course, MSM now all collude to agree with the official one-sided statist proclamations and narratives.

Examples: progressivism is mainstream vs. people who believe in the Constitution are right wing "extremists", or climate "deniers", or immigrant "xenophobes", or "homophobes", or "islamophobes"; and so it goes.

Give me someone in office who believes god will send them to eternal hell fire if they do something wrong, over some narcissistic atheist who believes his actions have no consequences long term any-day.

If people refuse to vote for someone because of their healthy faith/religious beliefs , you might as well be voting for nazi Hillary Bush dynasty.

These anti religious people are a religion they just don't understand that position. 0 is a number.

Zero is not a "number". It's the "null set".

Zero stands alone between positive NUMBERS and negative NUMBERS. Numbers represent actual things in existence, or numbers of things NOT in existence (as in shortages), while zero does not .

But zero is not the mere absence of things or conditions. For example - zero does not represent a vacuum, since a vacuum has reality.

Which is why it's called the "Null Set."

...ooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrr common core.  Hmmm, let me think on that.

Ding! Times up, looks like we obviously need to throw a few more billion dollars into the Dept of Education.

This is going to over time become more commonly known as the "other talk" that parents will have to have with their kids.

The time when little timmy is getting old enough to understand the kind of world he is living in.... where you sit him down and explain to him how he was enslaved, what money is, who the money masters are, the games they play and the kind of people they are, and how to defend themselves from the statist/banksters predators.

Its probably the 2nd most important talk a parent can have with their children nowadays if they want them to grow up with atleast half a sense of the world around them.

People should also teach their kids to refuse being micro-chipped at all costs.... because everyone knows thats the end-game, where everyone has a chip and is completely F(*#$#'D unless you show up to your state designated labor camp.... "BZZZZZ RING whats this? o a text??? WTF The govt says I have to show up for unpaid overtime at the camp tonight or they cut my rations in half???" wtf!!!! fuc(*(* this chip is blinking red again, low on credits.... can't even wager my way out of this . . . with my state veri-chip Lotto. . .

I'll worry about "propagandizing" MY children. Others need not be concerned with it, or attempt to do it themselves.

In schools, I realize that EVERYTHING isn't completely clear, particular regarding history and political matters. Just present all of the information fairly, and WITHOUT bias.

(unfortunately in schools today matters of hard science and even MATHEMATICS have become open to 'interpretation')

This TED talk (there're actually 2 more by same author) sums up very nicely the problem with education today:

If you have kids do yourself and them a favour and listen carefully.

I tell my kids, don't just listen and understand the words people say but try to understand why they are saying them.  I also tell them to examine and review what the actual outcome was.  What was actually done versus what was said.  This is a big problem that Obama is having with the millenials.  It took them 6 years to understand that talk isn't action.  I believe that if the Dems remained in control in November that he wouldn't have done the executive order on immigration but the poor showing by lib voters is a direct result of all talk and no action.  He would never had been elected to a 2nd term if the millenials realized sooner that he is all talk.

what content is taught that leaves critical thinking out and what is left out that does not a piant a  historically correct picture. How are the teachers teaching culture or values that is different than before (i get the bullying thing) anything else? one thing that i think could be an issue for me is that high school courses are tracking from 5th grade.... if you don't take the right class in 5th you could be a t risk not taking the right courses through high school, AP biology and calculas, i.e

What could go wrong with having 4 year olds make their own decisions, as long as they "think" first, of course?

As long as you have the unwashed masses going to public "education".....you can forget it.

These de facto prisons are nothing but liberal bastions of indoctrination, and have become feral like Lord of the Flies.

Group think is the norm, if thinking is done at all.  Common sense ridiculed.  And don't even think about learning logic, critical thinking, distrust of the media, or even doing basic math like exponents.....how else could these kids not understand how debt explodes?

Nope. All you can do is get your kids out of public school. That is rule #1. I don't give a shit if you have to eat beans, ride a bike to work in the snow uphill....I don't give a fuck.

If you love your kids (I mean really love them, not just give them the latest smartphones).....do the right thing.

Homeschool, or find a good private one.

Do not subject them to this horror known as "public education".

Why esle do you think these kids are all on ritalin, prozac and such?  School shootings, drugs, violence and rape?

Their minds are being utterly crushed on a daily and systemic basis.

It's up to you.

My parents taught me to think for myself, question authority, and assert my independence about absolutely every topic except religion. Fascism comes in every flavor, and the Jesus is God and Everyone else is Going to Hell! religious fascism might be one of the most ubiquitous and poisonous fascisms of them all.
