Los Angeles Apartments Are On Fire... Literally

Tyler Durden's picture

A massive downtown Los Angeles fire - engulfing numerous apartment buildings - has blocked the northbound 101 Freeway and looks set to make the usual disastrous traffic in LA even more unbearable today. As The LA Times reports, more than 250 firefighters battled the blaze at an apartment tower under construction in the 900 block of Fremont Avenue. The images are simply stunning...

Luve Feed (via NBC):

Incredible...

As Reuters reports,

Two freeways were closed as firefighters battled a large blaze in downtown Los Angeles early Monday, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

"It's a large building, about a block long. The whole building is a total loss. The fire did spread into two neighboring buildings," said David Ortiz, a spokesman for the fire department. "The fire was going across the freeway."

Ortiz said there were no reports of injuries or fatalities in the fire, which consumed an apartment building that was still under construction.

He said more than 250 firefighters fought the fire, which was reported after 1:20 a.m. PST, and which was under control by 4:30 a.m. PST.

The fire was under control but not extinguished, and freeways would be opened soon, Ortiz said.

The fire spread to two neighboring buildings, including an office building on North Figueroa Street, where several stories were damaged by fire and water.

Stunning images...

Perhaps - like Blackstone believes - the apartment market is really going up in smoke... and a fire-sale was the best option

Exactly. What an abject waste of resources in water, and manpower.

A well engineered fire suppression system would be far more cost effective, and mitigate the need for firefighters to point their guns at the tax livestock.

Did all of those structures collapse at free fall speed?

Not rapidly. Only steel reinforced concrete structures do that after 90 or so minutes. That material is much more dangerous and needs to be banned.

It takes some time before the wood burns to ash.

Wood is much safer. It is the Environmentalist's fault for 9-11 as they restricted the harvesting of trees. Fucking tree huggers.

Little penguin, being mean doesn't make your right, espically when you mail in a half wrong comment with nothing else. Here let me teach you something child.

Inconel is mainly used in the combustion chamber. While present in turbine blades, bleed air is primarliy used to provide a boundary layer to mitigate heat transfer. Even low pressure turbines are a combination of lower grade alloys. The fire would have to burn so hot to accomplish the official story of collapse even inconel would not pass the test.  But thats not the point, and you lost the right to an intelligent discussion.

Its really a point made to lay people about the absurdey of the official story.

Next you will be arguing about how the 911 commission was decent work of science.

That reminds me of the racist joke in which a Chinese-American guy goes to the bank everyday to exchange the RMB and Yen he takes in at his place of business for good ol' American dollars.  One day he comes in to exchange his currency and the teller gives him less money than he had expected.  He asks, "Why less money today than yesterday?"  The teller responds, "Fluctuations."  The Chinese guy is horribly offended and screams, "Oh yeah?  Well flux you white people too!"

You kind of have to say it out loud, and even then it isn't that funny.

The real question is going to be if whether the majority of americans, having watched this building burn down to it's steel skeleton, can ever possibly come to the conclusion that building 7 couldn't have collapsed at free fall speed into it's own footprint from some random smoldering fires? I doubt it. That might take someone a couple of minutes of clear, rational, out of the box thinking that might cause them to lose consciousness.

Was it a steel structured building? If so, according to alleged cave dwelling terrorist physics the building should have collapsed within an hour. Was there also a building close by to this one that just poof, collapsed? Again, according to those physics stated by the government it should have.

You do realize that the towers collapsed because the structural support of internal core was cut out by the planes right?

I have a book abou the construction of those towers.  to liken it to you would be for me to give you two broken legs, and expect you to stand with 4 inches of BONE MISSING at the break.

Internal core of the twin towers CAN'T be cut by simple wings.

But whatever, what about WTC 7 who simply had a small oxygen starved diesel fire in the first floor?  Can you tell me why it collpased?

Amazes me to see people still attempt to rationalize the collapse of Building 7. The veil is growing thicker while the BS just keeps getting deeper (mostly via MSM). Really tough not to get cynical when considering it all.

I have a book about the towers too, one written before they collapsed, in fact it was written before they were finished building them. The basic structure was like a tree trunk with the floors cantilevered out like branches. The outside glass walls were curtain walls hanging from the structure and providing no support.

The only way those buildings could collapse, is if the core supports broke, which was impossible. As described by the engineers who were building it.

Mon, 12/08/2014 - 15:39 | 5529642 pods

Those center supports not only broke, they all broke uniformly (at an angle) at a size that would fit nicely on a truck.

You do realize that aluminum cant cut through feet of wound steel cable right? A fucking wing of a jet cant cut through a small tree, let alone heat treated tempered architectural steel. Jesus.

Hopefully no one has been killed or injured. The traffic congestion and inconvenience should be a little further down the list of concerns.
