US Tanks Are Rolling Across Latvia

Tyler Durden's picture

Having grown used to images and clips of "Russian" tanks rolling through Ukraine, crossing borders, and generally creating havoc, we thought the following clip was of note. With NATO and Russia rattling sabres ever louder, the site of a trainful of American tanks passing through Latvia will, we are sure, do nothing to calm both sides.

As LiveLeak reports,

According to the representative of national armed forces of Latvia, till December 6 transportation of heavy military equipment of the first cavalry division of army of the USA from Adazhi and Estonia was carried out to Lithuania.

This West / Russia conflict seems like the last resort reset button.  From the PTB standpoint it's tails I win heads you lose.   ie: Russia backs down the West wins.  Russia starts a hot war and the West uses it as an excuse to pull the plug on the world economy and blame Russia.  West wins again (though with a bit more more 'collateral damage' I would assume).

Only problem is that when this one goes hot, it goes really hot.  But maybe that's the whole objective.

Why does everybody think we need to go tactical. Read the article. We're already squeezing them until their eyeballs pop with a limited set of economic sanctions.

Those M2s are just a tripwire force like the old Berlin Brigade or the remnant of US forces in Korea. Crossing over to the NATO side of the line will automatically involve US casualties. That was the whole point of NATO in the first place: Keep the Germans down, the Americans in, and the Russians out.

The only war that can come out of this is one where the Russians want to come in. Nobody wants to invade Russia. The food sucks.

Read the article. We're already squeezing them until their eyeballs pop with a limited set of economic sanctions.

Europeans would be extremelly naive, borderline delusional to hold this kind of views, considered the data at hand. Can not really be said of 'americans' as their habit is to fabricate a fantasy world to mediate between them and reality.

The only war that can come out of this is one where the Russians want to come in.

Rare moment of agreements with you on that one. This typical NATO behavior of shaking their tiny pee-pee in a dick waving contest is their maximal ability to agress against Russia. NATO invades Latvia and turns it into a parking lot for junk in order to 'send a message'. That is the extent of NATO capability.

So no war here. Putin has no desire to support a kingdom of potato trolls. The Latvian potato is not in jeopardy from Russia.

Nobody wants to invade Russia.

Another agreed point. NATO cannot defeat Russia. This is known even to NATO.

"Europeans would be extremelly naive, borderline delusional to hold this kind of views...". Agree, and I think we generally don't

there are three things that are hurting Russia at the moment: the "weak oil price" that Saudi Arabia unleashed (Targets: primarily Iran, then Russia, then shale and frackers), the "strong dollar" which includes migration towards the US, and lastly the sanctions

I'd go as far as thinking that the sanctions are nearly irrelevant, compared to the first two

Europeans could help to de-escalate the hostilities by taking responsibility for their part in causing them and escalating them.

Better to admit to mistakes and atone for them than obediently complying with the US folly of making Russia a scapegoat for US foreign policy failures.

Thu, 12/11/2014 - 06:14 | 5539654 Ghordius
Ghordius's picture

TheFourthStooge-ing, In principle, I fully agree. But we might differ on the details. Take for example any support for groups in Ukraine that want to join the EU. Do you count them as responsible for the escalation, too? Is peaceful demonstration for political goals included in the things where everybody should keep out? I find it a though question

On the other side... Poland. I personally still suspect their intelligence services to be all over Ukraine, together with the American ones. Question is, how do you disentangle that?

Russia could help, by pointing out which european services are where, and they, in the middle of this giant propaganda war, did stage some attacks on Polish targets, most notably by releasing the discussions that the former Polish PM and FM had. You know, those where they complained that serving too much American interests was not working well for them

But one thing nobody can change that fast: Polish and Eastern European feelings towards Ukraine and Russia. They all know each other very well, as you know

Thu, 12/11/2014 - 06:18 | 5539657 Ghordius
Ghordius's picture

meanwhile, some Europeans are helping to de-escalate the hostilities and taking responsability: the OSCE bunch

or the Dutch. That plane's casualties? It's the equivalent of a 9/11, if you take population vs deaths as a measure

Thu, 12/11/2014 - 06:34 | 5539664 Ghordius

as a further wrinkle in the whole thing, look at the new composition of that mandatory "summit" of head of governments that we call EU Council, that steers the EU org

it's new (actually a somewhat glorified secretary, yet with some power over the agenda) "President" is the same former Polish PM, Donald Tusk

meanwhile, when the same council gathers the Foreign ministers, it is headed by the former Italian Foreign minister

so you have one "Russian Hawk" in one setting counterbalanced by one "Russian Dove" in the lesser, but technically more active setting

so in a way, we both distrust the Russian Bear and love the Russian Teddy, depending from the aspect we face

You should read more history. In the Roman Empire the praetorian guard, in charge of emperor's security, was paid in gold not in trinket currency as most Romans. Whenever an emperor would try to screw with that pay, he would invariably end up assasinated. His place would be then taken by the chief of his guard...

I don't mean to be a dick, but...

A couple weeks ago, a map like this one was trotted out and declared to be a harbinger of WWIII.

Then a few days ago, videos of Russian Fighters off the coast of Norway... over six hundred miles from the nearest Russian base... were declared to be a non-event because they didn't actually overfly Norway.

Now NATO fighters on a base,  the nearest of which is two hundred miles from Russia, is presented as a harbinger of WWIII again.

Well which is it?

Is sending your military to someone else's border a harbinger of armageddon or not?

The inconsistency is glaring.

The 2008 NATO Bucharest summit’s announcement that Ukraine and Georgia would eventually join the organisation infuriated Putin, who warned NATO leaders that further expansion would be a threat to Russia. Two days later, in a closed-door speech leaked to the accompanying media, he reportedly addressed U.S. President George W. Bush directly: “You understand, George, Ukraine is not a state. What is Ukraine? One part is eastern Europe. The other part, and a significant one, was donated by us”. According to the Russian newspaper Kommersant, Putin then “very transparently hinted that if Ukraine was accepted into NATO, it would cease to exist.

Even after scraping their obsolete tanks, the Russians have over 15,000 modern tanks they could roll into Europe. With all the new ''NATO countries" the US has about 1 tank in Europe for every 50 km of front. I can't count German tanks as the Germans have instead been making Mercedes to ship to the Middle East and China. And I cannot count French tanks because they only run in reverse. And I cannot count Italian tanks because they already come with white flags.

Poland is already a CIA/Masaad heavily influenced country.  WUkraine is now CIA/Masaad.  The citizens of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia need to be even more worried about the infuence these troops stationed in their countries will cause and how the CIA/Masaad start covertly taking political control.

Not sure what is happening in Belarus but the politicians in Sweden have largely been coopted, although the people of Sweden may not be competely on board.  But then the people of Sweden were brainwashed into opening their borders and destroying their culture.  Also the Masaad controled politicians in Sweden are making noise about needing to join NATO for the countries "protection".

These movements are to drive home the seperation of that country from Russia and to help neutralize any internal support for Russia in those countries.  More so than to fight Russia, but then the installation of both offensive and defensive missile systems in those countires are part of the plan.

There is no danger of Russian response.  Putin will not fight, he plans to negotiate away Russia's resources for the benefit of the Russia elite once Russia fails economicly.

These may be dinosaurs but these same dinosaurs rolled through Morgan County, Utah, USA just over a month ago. They were on a train of about 200 tanks. About every 20th tank had medical signs on it and there were a few sand colored ambulances too. Most were sand colored but about one sixth of the tanks were dark green camo. The tanks we saw and the tanks in the video are the same or even smaller. I thought they were headed for a bone yard somewhere. Guess not. How are the world's citizens going to stop the insanity? Plus there a spot in Nevada called Wimar Place that's been getting systematically pulverized every day for months now. Something is going on out there. I'm used to strange doings out on what we call the West Desert, ie all of Nevada and the Utah gunnery range, so something is not good.

For the Armor buffs out there:

http://www.fredoneverything.net/M1.shtml

From The Sharp End, an excellent book about soldiers in World War II:

"A tank that is mortally hit belches forth long searing tongues of orange flame from every hatch. As ammunition explodes in the interior, the hull is racked by violent convulsions and sparks erupt from the spout of the barrel like the fireballs of a Roman candle. Silver rivulets of molten aluminum pour from the engine like tears...When the inferno subsides, gallons of lubricating oil in the power train and hundreds of pounds of rubber in the tracks and bogey wheels continue to burn, spewing dense clouds of black smoke over the funeral pyre."

Not the stuff of recruiting posters. These men do not know of it, not really. Armies don't read. Even the officers have never seen the horror of a burning tank. Fire is the hideous, unspeakable nightmare of armor. So many things burn in a tank: ammunition, fuel, hydraulic fluid vaporized by 1,500 pounds of pressure. The crews don't always get out. Hatches jam, the wounded can't move, sheer panic and agony prevent escape.

This US heavy weaponry is to keep Latvia down and quiet. The third of Latvia's population are ethnic Russians. These American tanks will be used to genocide Russians in Latvia just like NATO tanks are used to genocide Russians in Ukraine.

Latvian economy took a huge hit due to the Russia's sanctions.  It looks like it's going  to collapse very soon.  Latvia is the next to have the US sponsored government coup and a civil war.

By the time the Germans initiated the Kursk offensive, their force amounted to around 777,000 men, 2,451 tanks and assault guns (70 per cent of the German armour on the Eastern Front), and 7,417 guns and mortars.[71][93][o]

I doubt a hundred tanks will bother the Russians too much. When will these belligerent fools see sense?
