Greece Suffers Biggest 3-Day Crash In 27 Years

Tyler Durden's picture

In the last 3 days, the broad Greek stock market has cratered a stunning 20%. This is the biggest 3-day drop since 1987 and all on the back of the 'possibility' that an anti-EU party takes over.

Did we just get a glimpse of the ugly reality hiding behind the veil of status-quo-maintaining central-bank-sponsored manipulation?

And Toto was the one that found him.

If it's happening in Greece, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Ireland and France cannot be too far behind. Central banksters have lied to a false prosperity and zero interest rates as if there is no risk remaining.  Unfortunately, reality cannot be denied for long.  Bring on the long-postponed crash.

ISE index has been climbing for the last year or so.

Of course many of the companies who were listed on the ISE several have delisted because there is insufficient investment to be gained from the ISE.

Banks like Allied Irish Bank had to delist after it went bust and had to be bailed out by the Irish taxpayer.

Stop fucking worrying, Draghi will talk about doing whatever it takes, there will be words exchanged about new improved 3 letter acronym programs to 'provide liquidity', the BIS guys will sell 300 tons of gold overnight and use the proceeds to buy S&P futurees, and everything will be fine.  And the fucking Greeks are fine, it hardly ever gets cold there so it doesn't really matter whether or not you have a house.  Everything is great, you'll see.

Agree. And Germany will be going down right with them. This is "unthinkable" right now. Triple A and stuff, but directly linked.

Then make sure you keep your German Euro bills and not the periphery ones.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euro_banknotes

Hold code "X" (Germany), avoid codes "Y" (Greece), "V" (Spain), "S" (Italy), "M" (Portugal)...

Months - Years - of crying and wringing hands over poor ole Greece.

Who cares!

Greece has not been a factor on any level in the world for over 2000 years. They have the idea that, for some reason, we all owe them a living. Why won't the EU and the rest of the world ignore those lazy bastards and let them rot in their memories of past glory.

Syriza, the party in the lead, is not an anti-EU party. It just wants to renegotiate the terms of the bailout. I don't know what the EU clowns are afraid of. That a country's leader won't do exactly as told by Brussels?

Fri, 12/12/2014 - 05:53 | 5543386 Ghordius
Ghordius's picture

oh, my... facts. Yes, SYRIZA is not an anti-EU party. Yes, it's main thrust is to renegotiate the terms of the bailout, preferably now instead of later

further, they are socialists and would prefer the Greek state to spend more then it collectes in taxes. they are pro-deficit-spending, particularly for social causes

and of course they are in general for higher taxes, though in Greece tax collection is a difficult business

interestingly, they don't even want Greece to necessarily exit the eurozone. They are just willing to bargain hard, and want to be at the bargaining table, asap

in fact, the "EU clowns" aren't terribly afraid of that. The EU countries that have lent to Greece... they still remember how the Greek government, aided by The Squid, lied to them

Note it's the markets that are having a fit. And possibly this has more to do with this new dollar tide shifting back to the US, and leaving the whole rest of the world "on dryer ground"

Its interesting.

Syriza is not an anti-EU party, and they say mixed things about the EUR, but their financial goals and objectives are at odds with essentially everything the EMZ is written to accomplish.

It would be interesting to see them elected.

The dreaming in me sees them setting the world on fire, but pragmatically, they will be very similar to ND -- take their bribes, a nice yacht or two -- and keep the Greeks enslaved.
