House Votes On The $1.1 Trillion Cromnibus Bill: Live Webcast

Tyler Durden's picture

Update: As you were - VOTE ON FEDERAL SPENDING BILL POSTPONED, STILL PLANNED FOR THIS AFTERNOON

As is widely known by now, in a largely token vote, since it has the blessing of the White House, in a few moments the House will vote on H.R. 83, the bill containing $1.1 trillion in appropriations to fund the government through 2015, aka the "Cromnibus". As noted previously, among the provisions in the bill is Citi-directed watering down of Dodd-Frank by way of a Swap "push-out" provision, which as we explained over the weekend, would put taxpayers on the hook for derivative losses as it "would allow financial institutions to trade certain financial derivatives from subsidiaries that are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. — potentially putting taxpayers on the hook for losses caused by the risky contracts."

Screen Shot 2014-12-05 at 3.32.12 PM

Then again, since we are talking about some $303 trillion in US-based derivatives (at just the top 25 US holding companies alone), the bottom line is that it really doesn't matter where the swaps are housed or traded from: if and when these goes bad, it doesn't matter if they are located in a FDIC-insured shell or somewhere else: the entire system will collapse all over again, unless it gets yet another multi-trillion Fed, as in taxpayer, bailout.

Those wishing to follow who votes for and against the Spending Bill may do so on C-Span after the jump.

I find it interesting that the US gov. fiscal 2015 year started back in October ,...........

and did any else notice the farce that is our "budget" now ?

We no longer have a budget as dictated by law

We no longer have continuing resolutions

We no longer have ominbus spending bills

We have The Cromnibus

We're so screwed.

dubbed “CROmnibus” as it is a combined continuing resolution (CR)[1] and Omnibus spending bill

So again US Congress gives up the US Constitutional Powers
- Budget Powers
- Legislative Powers to Lobbyists & President
- War Powers to Lobbyists & President

An omnibus bill is a proposed law that covers a number of diverse or unrelated topics. Omnibus is derived from Latin and means "for everything".

The "Great Deception!!"

- MSM reports today it is $1 Trillion Dollars
- But actually closer to $3.5 Trillion since:
- MIC = $900 Billion
- MEDICARE/MEDICAID = $1 Trillion
- Social Security = $1 Trillion

And oh don't let's look at the Corruption, racketeering, Organized Crime represented in the Continuing Resolution & Onmibus Bills... Enabling US Corporate Monopolies, the Monopoly Banking System... and Corruption of Politics through Money.

Thanks.

Yeah I know what omnibus means ( one of those very odd people that studied classic languages in high-school).

Anyways - this looks to me like one gigantic "we have to pass the bill in order to find out what´s in it" moment. Why not just completely dispense with the charade of congressional oversight and get a more stream-lined government - then? This method of delivering huge documents written in the most tortured language like in middle of the night 10 hrs before the vote is going down ensuring that none knows or understand what they are voting for - or not. Isn´t it just time- and and resource consuming way of fooling people. Why not just declare regal powers to President/Senate/Congress so that they can decide on anything without explanation ?

Or you could begin to hold your elected representatives personally liable for what they decide on.

There's nothing "Communist" about diverting the wealth of the nation into corporate coffers, nor in allowing the corporate sector to merge with and subsume the government.  The word you are looking for is "Fascism," and it's not at all the same thing.

If it were Communism, the government would be making Citi a subisidary of government.  Instead, Citi is making the government a subsidiary of Citi.  Sure, we all get fucked either way, but it is a very different dynamic.

If these Republican boneheads would at least pretend that they won an election, they would have a 2 month extension of the current budget until all of the new hires are sworn in, THEN propose a 2015 budget with the new congress intact.  People did not kick out the Democrats and put Republicans in office so that they could go to Washington and let the losers do the budget for the next fiscal year.

- Domestic Policy & Domestic Spying
- Federal Budget is a nightmare...exponential growth wo a budget or congressional signatures
- Jobs, Compensation, Economy, cost of Tech Schools & College, Cost of Health Care
- Monopoly control over credit & money creation
- Loss of state of Justice
- Prevalence of Fraud, Waste, Abuse, no prosecutions, Socializing the risk & losses of key industries

Deal with Reality... is very broad, eh?

A bit of drollery in regards to Bryan's altogether sensible and clever suggestion of how Repubs should handle things: (A. If they had a brain. (B. If they gave a rat's ass about effective Govt. and walking the talk.

Bryan was addressing the article and I was responding to his political acumen with a cheeky reply, as is my habit.

I have absolutely no idea what you're on about but if it has something to do with writing a 1200 page tome on politics, economics, social sciences and foriegn policy for your edification, then you will disappointed.

I'm far too lazy and, in fact, this response has worn me out.

Treasury collected $404 billion in first two months of FY but still had a deficit of $179 billion which equals about $583 billion in two months which works out to $3.5 trillion anually.

The House passed a 1.1 Trillion annual budget. The math doesn't seem to work out for me....seems a couple trillion short somewhere.

Mainstream media is nothing more than state sponsored propaganda.  Sure there's the obvious and directly sponsored broadcasters... but look at the ownership of the not so obvious.  Trace the ownership path and look at those corporations who received and are receiving tremendous amounts of stimulus.  The media was bought out, co-opted and is no longer what they once were.  Today, the only real scrutiny comes from smaller, independent sources of information.
