We Have Just Escaped The Earth's Gravity And Are Now In Space Orbit
Houston, we have a serious problem... With only 20% of US Shale regions remaining economic at these oil price levels, it should not be surprising that the credit risk of the US
Energy sector is exploding to near 1000bps... and contagiously infecting
the broad HY market...
Credit risk in the energy sector is starting to infect the broad HY market - HYG at 2-year yield highs and HYCDX near 15-month wides...
Which signals considerable pain to come for US Energy stocks..

The denial is so loud it's deafening

I'm not the man they think I am at home....................
Call Abe,
he got plenny money.
So... "high yield" bonds might actually become high yield after all?
Wonders never cease.
Whadyou say?
Who would have predicted that LOW Oil Prices would be the Black Swan that crashes the system?...
[I guess that's why they're called 'Black Swans'...]
No, but SOMETHING SOMEWHERE has to unexpectedly drop in value in order to trigger the dominoes falling.
I just shut the door, it was no big deal.

First women in space:
"Houston, we have a problem."
What?
"Never mind."
What's the problem?
"Nothing."
Please tell us.
"I'm fine."
kinda looks like greek cds spreads a few years back.... Dont worrry kids, the Kardhasians will do something to take your mind off of it.
Planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can do.
In Earth Orbit? For now, till they leave orbit and they're... Lost in Space.
Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!
This is bullishfor gold!
Hey Banzai, you need to photoshop the ad with buffett holding a credit card to his head and replace the CC with a 1911a1.
Excellent!
Back when we were still somewhat interested in conquering space, now interested in conquering the planet.

Watch this "Friday in your face" turn around in equitiy markets - Ready yourselves!
Dow will close flat to green. Cuz the gatekeepers know how to deal with panic.
If LOW oil prices are BAD for the economy, then HIGH oil prices must be GOOD for the economy, right? So lets just raise oil prices to $300 a barrel and everything will be peachy right? Yawn.
Are oil companies for profit corporations or not?
Do tell oh wise one, do tell...
What is your point?
This kind of action buries countries, companies and investors......
This economy will self-destruct in 4... 3... 2... 1...
Can't wait for Hethrow' airport announcement as to who compromised their air traffic control systems....
Sure is unfortunate that the FAA never got that GPS tracking capability in place for commercial aircraft so they have a permanent fix on every plane in flight "anytime", "anywhere"... You would have thought after 9/11 the U.S. government would have made that one a top priority?
Looks like they will continue to use 50 year old antiquated radar system technology and leave it up to the professionals when something bad happens to an airliner!
Whoever it was, the answer will most assuredly be 'moar police state'. Tis the season to slam through bills whilst no one is looking.
Good for some.
My cousin and Haaarvaaard are still making out like bandits on the software royalties.
"and contagiously infecting the broad HY market..."... Then CDS....then the taxpayer... someone please tell me this is not all coordinated... Nah... they're not that smart.... are they???
I honestly doubt it. That won't prevent them from telling everybody that they were, indeed, that smart to have orchestrated it for some retarded reason.
CNBS claimed today they only need $38 oil for shale ! FKING BS-LIAR SACKS OF SHIT
that's funny seeing as how a few come to mind that were losing money at > $100/bbl
"likely contained" ... "it's just a tiny part of the economy" ... "other sectors performing great" ..."employment is strong" ..."it's just a tiny dip" ... "by ______ stocks now, it's a generational buy"
Sounds familiar?
If this is what it takes to show who is behind the curtain ...
Thank you Saudi Arabia. ..
I don't want to see people ....hard working people out of work (I am one of them)
The system needs a reset...
Bring on the pain..
I hope this blows up the whole pile of festering shit...
I smell another Buffet Bailout offer coming to Exxon and Chevron...25% of the company for 10 cents on the dollar for 10 years...
His railways will be running empty soon enough,
Seems like Oracle of Omaha couldn't predict this.
DON'T WORRY!
Remmeber the bill signed last night, all will be well, taxpayers will just bail all these guys out.
Carry on!
If I fart in space will anyone hear it? Will the fart gas not disperse and remain in a ball?
It will forever move out to the outer reaches of the galaxy at its original escape velocity.
It might be captured by an Earth like planet and cause environmental Co2 damage.... could you live with that?
Farting in a spacesuit.
drill more oil
.
print more money
The mistaken MSM presumption is it's an over-production shake-out, but it's production meeting multi-year global Macro slump.
If it were just over production it could be resolved by mothballing production to re-stabilize price and the reverberations will damp-out. Ugly and painful but manageable.
But when its driven by rocketing production investments into a protracted Macro slide to negative {i.e. very slow slide in = very slow climb out} the price is going to rip limbs off.
But it will also (3 to 6 months later) power-up Asia due to the attractive lower input costs, create demand from a cheap commodities bonanza, thus set industrial metals rolling once more and fan investment growth in Oz. That's what happened last time, from about April 2009 forward after oil had gone down to $32 and metals with it.
I asked this in the oil crashing thread, but have yet to receive a reply.
At what price level does the Marcellus Shale area become unprofitable? It isn't included on the list.
Thanks.
The Marcellus play is natural gas (some wet gas in there). So, you have to look at natural gas prices for that one. I believe that it is around $3.75/mcf and is largely not involved with the collapse in oil prices. That's not to say that natural gas prices are stable, they are just not impacted by the same drivers that oil is. I'm not sure what they have to get at the low end in order to make the play work economically these days, but $3.75 is above that floor.
Thank you. I thought there may be a ripple effect on Marcellus Shale natural gas drilling, as a lot of the companies who are drilling for oil are also in the nat gas shale business.
I almost wonder if the oil price collapse helps the gas focused producers, as so much gas production came on associated with the oil boom. If the oil-associated gas production falls with oil prices, it should relieve some pressure on the gas guys, but who TF knows.
It's always been unprofitable Hence the term "shale miracle" it's been a banking scam since the onset ..It keeps the flag waivers waiving and the ignorant serfs still believing 'murika is ... what did that dumb bitch say uh yeah thats it "AWESOME .. Oil-induced deflation! Time to reduce interest rates!
Oh, wait...
Dudes,
It is easier to manipulate the oil market for a year than it is to get your wife to suck you off. It's a fact.
Don't you remember 2007?
NBER (National Bureau of Economic Research) identified the Recession of 2007 in December of that year, but neglected to tell the American Public.
As the trading public did not know the economy was in recession, certain naughty forces raised the price of oil from $90 in December 2007 to $147 in July 2008. And back down to $35 by the end of 2008.
They made a killing on the upside, shorted it at the top and drove the price back down for the election of Obama.
They moved the price of oil up and down a total of 150 points in a year.
Compared to that swindle (with a complicit NBER), the movement of oil today is bubkes.
