"Existential Rage In The Workplace" - A Christmas Present Idea From Geoffrey Raymond

Tyler Durden's picture

The name Geoffrey Raymond needs no introduction on Zero Hedge, although for those few who may be unfamiliar, he is the artist who traversed Wall Street in the days after the Lehman bankruptcy, the Madoff ponzi blow up, the AIG bailout, and - most recently - after the London Whale fiasco - and annotated the feelings of (recently or soon to be fired) bankers toward their employers. In short: any time Raymond is located on the street corner in front of any given bank and collecting annotations, all hell is likely about to break loose (or already has).

He is also best known on these pages for opening up the annotation of his unique "Cramer Naked Short" painting to Zero Hedge readers.

In recent years Geoffrey Raymond's annotating opportunities have slowed to a trickle courtesy of every central bank going all-in on some $11 trillion in QE (and rising fast) to create the artificial impression that the financial system is stable (because in some parallel universe 6 years of endless bailouts somehow is equivalent to stability and is expected to "boost confidence"), although if recent market volatility is any indication, he may soon be making a repeat appearance, if only in front of energy trading desks at first.

And while we await Raymond to once again make mainstream media headlines, he has a special holiday gift idea for all those Zero Hedgers who have not yet parlayed their trillions (if Joe LaVorgna is correct) in savings from plunging crude prices into even more consumerism.

Presenting "Existential Rage in the Workplace" from Geoffrey Raymond:

This is one of my "map" paintings, all of which feature a title, a "black hole," and a red dot that indicates "You Are Here."  This one is a Zero Hedge painting but the idea is that you can insert your title of choice.  So if you work at JPMorgan now, or you used to work at Bear or SAC Capital -- just to pick two at random -- that becomes the title.  Or, if you like to fly the ZH flag, you are welcome to one like this.

It's an expression of existential rage -- something we all need to get off our chests every once in a while.  Particularly around the holidays.

These are actual paintings, not prints.  Because of this, the size and shape of the black hole varies quite a bit.  Each painting measures 2'x3'.  Larger sizes are available.

For purchasing details and/or for customization/annotation requests click here, while those who wish to converse directly with the artist, can do so as well.

Unconvinced? Remember: according to mainstream economists oil prices are so low that the painting is essentially free. And even if it isn't, it is only a matter of time before Obama enacts an executive order that it is every American's patriotic duty to spend a minimum monthly "low oil price tax savings" quota on purchases. Think of it as just ftontrunning all out fascism.

$2,500? Fuck that. If I had any budget to buy paintings with, I'd give it all to wb7. In fact, since I can afford one this Christmas, I will do exactly that.

Look at it this way.  If you had invested $5k in oil 6 weeks ago, you still have enough left to buy one.

I could make one for $0.10 with my PrintScreen key and a trip to the local Staples.

Guillotines are more appropriate, functional, and beneficial.

An American, not US subject.

Machetes can serve the same purpose as a Guillotine, but are cheaper and have other useful purposes.

Forward (over the cliff)!

It's a cool image though if I made it my desktop background I would tire of looking at it after a couple of weeks. Instead I have Thomas Cole's Consumation of Empire from his Courses of Empire series of paintings. I find it somehow more appropriate. I've also got the next in the series, "Destruction", waiting in the wings and will swap out the image when that time gets here.

There is a bearded twat in the office across the hall. I like to admire the narcicisstic scar he wraps in an air of intellectual superiority and financial services prowess. In contemplation of the artwork on display in their office - to which the bearded twat is almost certainly the curator if not the author - the annotation should read 'Public Private Partnerships'

Not bad. The "Cramer Naked Short" is priceless, but I'd never hang it on a wall at home.

Allow me to coin a new word: Consumertorium. A place where consumers and workers are cremated on the altar of the gangster class who control, well, everything. That is what Western civilisation has come to.

Life for the ordinary man used to be about a journey of discovery. Accumulating wealth - physical, intellectual and social in the pursuit of happiness. Life now consists of paying tolls to the leeches that drag every step, obstruct every free thought and bleed us dry in the process.

Everybody loves Raymond

Just so you all know his art. He take his targets from the shooting range. Presses a blown out hole over canvas spray paints it black. Takes his Picasso paintbrush and puts one crimson (Red Dot Laser) dot in the middle. Titles it, signs it and voila!

He can crank out more of these than a Chinese factory slave laborer does iPhones in an hour

Order me 1 .50 caliber titled Adam Lanza in honor of the fictitious character created to cover the satanic blood sacrifice 2 years ago to this day USA time. And carried out by a certain unnamed occult group's ongoing ritual murder practices on this planet. Payment will be made from the Zero Hedge trust fund by Trustee Tyler Durden and will hang in the Zero Hedge outer office

After all it is the holiday season

Bless all the harmless souls of innocent children like Jon Benet Ramsey, John and Anton Schuessler and Bobby Peterson who were murdered by criminal satanic scum

Consumerism is dead. Stone cold dead. Consuming will continue to the extent it must, but the 'ism' part will likely not be seen again in our generation. The brief little frenzy-party never had any staying power, and has fizzled out.

And I see deflation everywhere. It hasn't yet been acknowledged, but at some point it will occur to people that we are going in reverse.

I sure as hell hope that people will see the benefits to them of a deflating global economy. The only ones who are in line to be harmed by this are those whose reach extends globally. They will plead, bargain and threaten to get people to believe inflation is THEIR friend, and that deflation will ruin THEIR lives.

Nonsense. That little guy still has the house to live in, even if its value tanks. And if he goes seriously underwater, he can always seek to renegotiate or discharge those now bad loans. But he has to pay something to live somewhere, regardless. And as long as he does no one can take the house away.

And the deflating values make it a good bet that no one will WANT to. The house is exactly the same as it was before to the guy who lives in it, it has just been made less desirable to predators by being slapped with a lower valuation.

And another happy result for the homeowner is that declining values mean he can petition for, and insist on property tax reductions...these can be significant, and they are a gift that keeps on giving as long as prices keep going down...imagine a new holiday tradition of dressing up and going into town to register for your yearly property tax cut. It could be a festive occasion, with folks greeting each other with warm hand clasps and hot coffee and doughnuts...while someone announces the winner of the pool for largest annual decrease...
