The Bloodbathery Continues - "Some Folks Were Selling... Everything"

Tyler Durden's picture

We suspect more than a few are feeling like this after today...

What started out exuberant - with proclamations that oil and stocks had found a bottom - ended badly...

Apart from JPY - which was bid almost 1% against the USD - everything was sold today... Treasury yields up 6bps at the short-end, Oil down over 4% after being up over 1% overnight, gold & silver hammered down 4%, stocks plunged (though Trannies bounced back), credit smashed wider, EM FX crushed, Russian "everything" demolished, and

With 10 minutes to go, THEy got serious and broke the markets to try andget something positive out ofthe day...

From Friday's close - quite a roller-coaster for futures...

And Cash equities...

The S&P 500 broke its 50DMA and 100DMA, finding brief support at both...

Russell 2000 notably in the red YTD now...

Credit markets were crushed today...

*S&P/LSTA U.S. LEV LOAN 100 INDEX BID PRICE: 94.5386, -.4373

Treasury yields closed higher on the day - major flattening

FX markets showed very modest USD strength but the drop in USDJPY was the most notable... (strength in JPY)

And last but absolutely not least - commodities were absolutely crushed... PMs and oil...

Close-up on Crude..

And Oil & Silver started to get slammed as the S&P was lifted... It seems between $56 oil and 12ET, the fix was in to save the status quo... but it didn't create the magic...

and then there's Russia...

Goldbug version of reality:  Gold is money (true) and when the banksters that control THE WORLD, including all markets, destroy the system, claim nobody saw it coming, and press the reset button, boy that's when they are really going to get it and lose control and gold will ramp to it's true value.

My version of reality:  Gold is money, therefore it is the enemy of the people who run they system.  When the collapse hits, they will be just fine, they'll hit the reset button and be right there to keep on hammering you.

Continue to tell youself it's a sale and you didn't lose money each time you get hammered, I find it amusing.  Being right isn't very helpful when you keep getting hammered.  You are playing three card monte.  Your mistake is the people in charge don't care about reality, their power comes from the scam they play.

Who cares about the rich? They will go extinct once they lose control; and they know that.

That will be few safe places for them.

The Ticking Time Bomb

Their demise will come from the demographic on the bottom of the pyramid.

Once that demographic starts running low in food and energy. The German Holocaust and ISIL executions will be seen as child play.

The Power Elites know that; but we are not supposed to talk. Or even worse, not even think about that.

But you can’t say you didn’t see it coming…. Not here.

Carl Sagan?  Sorry, bumbling fool.  As a chemist, I can't subscribe to the religion of evolution.  DNA is computer code.  Could never have came about by chance.  It was engineered.  Never listen to someone who tells you some lies and some truth.  They have no wisdom.

But anyways,

Not crazy about Sagan at all; but I like that quote by him.

Anyway, as a chemist, what’s you take about this exchange:

An interesting debate that took place some years ago between Carl Sagan, the well-known astrophysicist, and Ernst Mayr, the grand old man of American biology. They were debating the possibility of finding intelligent life elsewhere in the universe.

And Sagan, speaking from the point of view of an astrophysicist, pointed out that there are innumerable planets just like ours. There is no reason they shouldn't have developed intelligent life.

Mayr, from the point of view of a biologist, argued that it's very unlikely that we'll find any. And his reason was, he said, we have exactly one example: Earth. So let's take a look at Earth. And what he basically argued is that intelligence is a kind of lethal mutation ... you're just not going to find intelligent life elsewhere, and you probably won't find it here for very long either because it's just a lethal mutation ...

He pointed out that if you take a look at biological success, which is essentially measured by how many of us are there, the organisms that do quite well are those that mutate very quickly, like bacteria, or those that are stuck in a fixed ecological niche, like beetles. They do fine. And they may survive the environmental crisis. But as you go up the scale of what we call intelligence, they are less and less successful. By the time you get to mammals, there are very few of them as compared with, say, insects.

If nothing significant is done about it, and pretty quickly, then he will have been correct: human intelligence is indeed a lethal mutation. Maybe some humans will survive, but it will be scattered and nothing like a decent existence, and we'll take a lot of the rest of the living world along with us.

http://www.chomsky.info/talks/20100930.htm

By the way: Agree with your last two paragraphs.

Mon, 12/15/2014 - 23:12 | 5556639 cornflakesdisease
cornflakesdisease's picture

If the creator and engineer of DNA doesn't step in soon, human beings are toast.  Humans are failures at ruling themselves as they have tried every form of self rule under the sun with no success.  Since the mid 20th century, they now possess the means to destroy themselves.

Though many like to denigarte their fellow citizens as "sheep", that is for the most part what humans are.  They are nesters and herders.  It just makes them more suseptible to being fleeced, but it isn't a bad thing to be mild, benevolent, or good natured in a world full of wolves.  It's just that humans can be easily manipulated; rather then by our knowledge, but our more base like instincts and urges; greed, selfishness, lack of empathy.

Intelligence and human's qualities do set humans apart from simpiler life forms, that is true.  But I wouldn't call it lethal.  Humans just have no guidence as a whole and a whole lot of bad influence.  While you quote the above, I would lean more toward a spiritual explanation of mankind's state of affairs.

The inner workings of the cell and DNA is what did it for me on the matter of evolution.  As a chemist, I've spent my professional life make coatings that are inert to acids and own a small business that manufactures them.  A life time of research and study, but I still can't do better then a lowly barnicle.  In fact, it is often from nature we borrow our "new" discoveries and designs.

I am convinced that life was designed.  Symbiosis is another convincing factor in the natural world; the orchid that can't pollinate without the help of a an insect that wasn't on the scene for eons before it was, the tree seed that has to pass through the digestive tract of a bird to active itself to grow, the wasp that injects a chemical into an accorn and turns it into a gall, actually altering it's DNA.  Sorry, tornados don't whip through junk yards and form 747's as an end result.  Nor does sticking an iron rod through a stero make it play better.

Certainly you have read John Perkins' writings and understand how the world really works.  Certainly you know that their are no accidents in government.  Japan, Germany, and all conquered lands by Dollar, Inc are firmly under the boot of "the boys".

Chatam House, the CFR, those wiley Fabian socialists.

If you are a bible reader, you know that this is all bible prophecy.

Intersting thing about Jim Rickards, I asked him what he reads on a daily basis wether in print or on the internet and he said just The Wall Street Journal and The National Catholic Register.

Eccl 12:12 "As for anything besides these, my son, be warned: To the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion to them is wearisome to the flesh."

While I don't dispute that call based on the demand for liquidity in a global route like the long-depression or the tulip panic, I am curious: because you have a SPX 300 call, then clearly you must also be going 1 level deeper in your bottoms up approach to the index. With that in mind mr.sellside what is your 2015 TP for XOM, CVX, P&G and KO.

No snark intended, just ZH these days is getting long nutbars. So either your bottoms up models are totally out of whack with everything printed, or you have something great to share. Saying 50% of the index is 0/sh is a bit Rich. If you had said 666 or 980, then I may believe you. If you had a full up model that showed 300, then you would have shared it when down was at 2100. As such, deduction suggests you are picking a number out your ass.

So, consider this one:

By B9K9: There is only one possible way to ameliorate the effects of further extend the Ponzi for some indeterminable amount of time: Ceterum censeo Russia esse delendam.

With Russia incorporated into the USD reserve system, new $trillions of hard assets can be lent, leveraged, re-hypothecated, and otherwise churned into the pool of global derivatives that keep the game afoot. Without Russia as a vassal state, the US/EU will be forced to move more aggressively into mandating specific targeted growth and sector expenditures to keep the debt balloon expanding.

Once you understand these basic principles of how the world actually works, then it’s quite easy – trivial actually – to piece the puzzle together. With an undeclared war, all possible resources are brought to bear, including any advantages the West possesses in military, diplomatic, financial and media.

We know of the first three, but I would be literally astounded if we weren’t incredibly active in trying to persuade young Russians to give up the fight and join the consumption party. Think of the deal they could cut to have first priority on newly printed reserves: just like Americans & Europeans, they would no longer have to work, but could spend their days shopping with endless credit card balances for products built by Chinese & India (virtual) slaves.

But there’s a downside as well, and that is that current Russian leadership isn’t going to stand idly around. They too will attack Western weaknesses and exploit the lack of mono culture, strong family networks and huge welfare dependencies. A reverse ‘fast & furious’ gun running scheme to funnel military grade weapons to inner cities would be obvious.

But the real great danger is for Americans to oppose these actions. In war, civil liberties are curtailed/suspended; those publicly admiring Putin and criticizing US war efforts will rue the day they so stupidly sided with the wrong team.

''The solution is to look at the problem from a different angle - that is, the Chosen's point of view. From this angle, we can see that usury, in all its glory, is the one consistent tool in which to enslave men. Governments are no fools - on the contrary, they not only understand perfectly well what is transpiring, but in fact exact tribute via outright extortion. This relationship has been ongoing for thousands of years - it's completely SOP.''

He probably is picking a number of his ass. But if the S&P were to go down, not 1700 0oint but only a couple of hundred.  The credibility crisis it will trigger will indeed unravel all current models and anybody's estimate on the bottom panic will as good as his ass.

With the amount of margin at work, plus leverage on the shadow banking system, plus the CDS market crashing big time due to insolvency will trigger an unraveling 9f the web offnpromises expos8sng the underlying acciunting gimmicks currently at play in all major funancial institutions, that will fee dback on itself triggering more unraveling of then gains the index had from 2009 to now.

In conclussi9n his ass maybe better model than most analytical models today.

I can't tell what our central bank’s monetary policies will be from month to month to try to hold this Ponzi scheme going.

I can't tell what our political priests will be telling to the people that are unable to think for themselves.

But I can tell you this with 99% of certainty; “Our lifestyle Ponzi scheme will reach its inevitable conclusion of catastrophic failure, one way or another.”

So, enjoy while you can, when the people with the low IQ (people that can’t think for themselves) realized it is over; then, life will change forever.

me, i can tell you the system is not allowed to crash for one an very basic reason, that even you can understand. masses are in control until they have empty belly.

humanity is like this, you can forbid everything, as long they have stomac full , no problem.  why the fuck you think monsanto is trying to own  the world wide agriculture....

crash from past was smalls crash, temporary, on lifetime scale this is nothing, ( ie: someone born in 1900, die at 80 years, knew 2 WW, then died in great 80' ?  ) had he a poor life ? no, he lived a fantastic change, terrific ones, war etc... but overall... that is a great parcour.

even if ponzi crash like you say, then what can happen, ppl self kill each others, renew with  home growth vegetable ? self defense, no more dumb police ? no tax ? no money just raw exchange ? FINE !

technology killed 2 generation pf ppl, too much computers and BS, kids raised front of TV, this is crap, no education = dangerous masses, ( explain also why terrorists are fucking dumbfucks )

just because actually money control everything, you remove money you have not a fucking single peanut of pressure anymore from elites to the masse. conclusion : ? elite become pointless, meaningless, so, they disapear by nature over time.

the angle, the P.O.V... every fucking one on earth try to earn money out of the ass to BE LIKE ELITE. 99% cannot go up to match the 1%. the movement is idiotic. remove the top 1%, then every one on the 99% look each others and realize they are already the same.... boom, job done.

for years you cannot learn a clue about how the world turn on MSM.  ppl are tighten in darknass and ignorance, why  in school  they do not teach own money is created from air....

what wait for us is a slow, long, painfull observation for ppl who know that the world population is beeing formated minds and deleted abilities to see weakness of the system, invisible is in front of eyes, system errect failure as a model to follow.

nothing can be done to the ppl. they have to move by themselves. will they ? nope, why ? comfy situation to not move and wait for others to fall 1st.

we are at a civilization corner, where WEST want to keep system in place, and EAST who know the rules, decided to free themselfves from that monster and recover liberty to think and act without obeying to anyone.

there is 2 way to solve this conflit:

1) world population kick GOVs and rewrite a fair system, in peace.

2) WEST vs EAST in blood.

choose your destiny.

Since you desire amusement...well..so do I.

I doubted ekm1's call for Oil when I first read it. But I thought about it and then made my own. My own call for $60 was blown through within weeks. (I did not consider the Exponential Function well enough.)

I believe that his call will be realized a lot sooner than I thought possible. (So much for my previous thinking...)

But since I also desire amusement just what modeling are you using that contradicts ekm1's call?

Exponential Growth leads to Exponential Collapse in any adiabatic system.

While, in theory, the ceiling for the SPX is unlimited as Currency Printing can be unlimited

But, practically speaking, the evaluations of SPX would be meaningless as it would be a result of Hyperinflation (NOT DUE TO REAL ECONOMIC GROWTH) which would destroy and purchasing power of the Currency. Thus for practical purposes the Currency Supply is also an adiabat.

First you will get a Deflationary Meltdown. This is what is currently happening. Then you will get the following Hyperinflation as there is NO POLITICAL WILL TO ALLOW DEFLATION. They will print but the Deflationary events must overwhelm them first. Then they will overreact as they usually do.

Now I disagree with Harry Dent's demographic and geopolitical models because of the lack of Political Will to see them through. Furthermore the is a difference between the 1930s Deflationary Depression and what is happening this time. During the 1930s the USA did not carry anywhere near as much of a Debt Load as today. The POLITICIANS of that era did not like the idea of going into debt. Thus FDR seized the Gold, devalued the USD, and then used that Gold Reserve to print off more USDs. Today we do not have that luxury. See...Greg Hunter's recent interview with Dent on www.USAWatchdog.com

So whom is to say that ekm1's target of SPX300 will not be realized? I understand that it reads as almost incredible. But then 8 weeks ago I would have also believed that $55 Oil was an incredible prognostication...until I thought about it.

But here we are. So just what information do you have that counters his prognostication? Or are you pulling numbers out of your ass?

Now that will be amusing. Please continue.

The war is against his oligarch buddies.  They are the ones who got this ruble rout going.  Puti even tried to entice them---or at least their money---back with his speech last week when the ruble was 10-12 handles higher than now.  Apparently they didn't trust him.  They know Russian history too well.

In years past, Puti browbeat the Russian banks to loan all their money to these same oligarchs.  Why not; it's only the masses money.  Now the banks are hurting so bad that last week he had to bail them out by using (what was then) the $81 National Wealth Fund.

But everybody loves the little guy.  RT tells me so, and far be it for me to question a State-controlled "news" source.

Horseshit. The war is against Russia and Balkanizing the freaking place. The algos have been set loose and any explanation otherwise is, well, horseshit. I could give a shit what happens to Russia, but the reaction could be the kind that gets a lot of people killed. This is my problem to the whole thing....a consolidation of the entirety of the world into a small few hands who see us all as chattel.

EDIT:

"We continue to recognize that collectively the conventional forces of the states formerly comprising the Soviet Union retain the most military potential in all of Eurasia; and we do not dismiss the risks to stability in Europe from a nationalist backlash in Russia or efforts to reincorporate into Russia the newly independent republics of Ukraine, Belarus, and possibly others....We must, however, be mindful that democratic change in Russia is not irreversible, and that despite its current travails, Russia will remain the strongest military power in Eurasia and the only power in the world with the capability of destroying the United States."

This was removed from the April 16 release in favour of a more diplomatic approach.

"The U.S. has a significant stake in promoting democratic consolidation and peaceful relations between Russia, Ukraine and the other republics of the former Soviet Union."

Honestly can't say if I would do the same since I spend all my money as fast as I can exchange it for capital goods.

Every one of these big Corporations are corrupt and crooked to the core. The worst thing about PBR has always been that its part owned by the Brazilian gov't . This means that if that looney toon Wilma comes out and says tommorrow that Petrobras needs to use some of their profits to say built out the electrical grid for the nation or something equally stupid only a Politician is capable of dreamin up, then yes yer fuked. Thats called risk, and this should not be construed as investment advice.

russia is the one being an actual capitalist, finally, attempting to trade with the world and get the best price possible.

we still go into every country we find - that doesn't give us their resources at the price (next to free) that we request, and put a gun to their head.

enjoy it now kids, because this sort of thing has never gone on forever.  and NOBODY in general population - and i include boogie-down hasn't worked in 3 generations, except the few made it to nba or rap - has ever lived this well.

we should all be giving great thanks (that holiday passed, destroyed by 'shopping').  christmas is next.  a time for being thankful for having so much in the coming dark, cold days of winter.

i'm so thankful, i'm home, i'm warm and dry and i have food.  i'm really not joking.  i lived so many years with little or no heat/hot water in northern regions, but i was young.

now - i do not want that.  and i do not with it on others, even if i have to subsidize them to some degree.  i'm fine with that.

Goes to show this is all engineered by the powers that be. Why would Russia's currency fall almost 14% in one day, seriously? The country has the largest world resources in oil, gas, wood and water to name a few.

In the meantime, how are the currencies of Norway and middle-east nations holding up? That's one thing I would like to know.

It's so sickening what those people can do.

Can't wait for the comments from that "Disabled Vet", who apparently rejoices in having been disabled so that Wall Street sharks could make hundreds of millions.

The one thing about what they are doing to Russia is this: if they can do it to Russia, they can do it to anybody, including their own people. This puts the major collapse of 2008 in perspective. And it definitely puts to rest any notions that "markets" were ever free.

Should the Israeli Air Force not go in and bomb the sh*t out of those airports also? -- given that it would not be Kosher for Russia to do so. Who knows, Bibi baby, Hezbollah just might be hiding out in E. Ukraine, for all you know. ;-)

I made an Alpo burrito for someone long ago.

Moral of the story:

DO NOT FRY ALPO!!!!

At least not in your own house.

Eat it cold out of the can, if you must, but

DO NOT FRY ALPO!!!!

Honestly - this is just the big banks shorting a few things to try to force the Fed to not tighten, and to keep the 'sustain the bubble' language in place.  And do you really think Mr. Yellen is going to let the US Market drop more than 2% without hinting at the next QE?  I predict a dovish statement from the Fed and a big market recovery later this week.
