Jobless Claims Decline Across The US, But Jump In Two Shale States
We are sure this data is entirely dependable but when continuing jobless claims spike over 6% last week and collapse almost 6% this week - and the labor department says there is nothing unusual - we hold our hands up and laugh. Continuing claims printed 2.37mm (beating expectations) and initial claims dropped 6k to 289k (beating expectations).
But the most critical aspect of today's report is the one-week-delayed details on which states saw a rise in initial claims - Pennsylvania: 12,302 and Texas 9,107 - both major Shale states.
Has the job-culling, cost-cutting started?

Yeah.....gotta have three part time jobs just to make it these days.
Just wait until Amnesty hits.
Thanks John Boehner! I gotta ask....what the hell do those guys have on you?
@ GZG
Yeah.....gotta have three part time jobs just to make it these days.
Only three jobs!!!!
Slaker
LOL
You speak as if both parties are different...
Because all the people who have quit the work force did so 3 - 5 years ago.
Shale UE is "the new wave" of claims
All this reporting is a farce
Maybe they can get a job in Cuba. I'm sure there will be plenty of hotels to clean by the time Wall street gets done exploiting...... er I mean expanding into that market.
Hand up, don't shoot.
Just the one.....whatca got behind your back Amigo?
@ pauhana
Bang!
Your dead
Sorry could not see the other hand so assumed you had a gun in it and my life was at risk.
My bad
My police union and the courts have my back!
Bang bang your dead, fifty bullets in your head.
Just could'nt resist.
This doesn't make any sense. And the little red light flashes....
From my perspective the economy has sucked for 8 years. This year, for me, was one deal away from a disaster and next year looks to be the same. It's a good thing I'm always the most clever mother fucker in the room.
Or you be just one click away from the grave.
Sheik, many in biz suffer the "one deal away from disaster" syndrome...
Maybe you could increase profits and stability by teaching others how to be
"always the most clever mother fucker in the room". (For a fee, of course).
P.S. I'm not going to charge you anything for that tip.
Strong dollah will kill off USSA profits and jobs in '15 even without help from the shale collapse. FX exchange rates can't be good for a '15 S&P earnings projection of + 7.3%.
Thus, it is written : Grandma must print !

"In 2013 businesses made 909,465 certified requests for H1B visas."

Why, this must mean there are a million jobs waiting for an American to be retrained to take them.
I assume part of unemployment and QE/TARP/GRIFT was retraining programs, right? Democrats have forever been the champions of job retraining programs.
Actually, apropos of little, PA and especially TX are huge h1b visa states. I figure the average oil worker can be retrained in 5-7 years.
Looks like new Gov of Pa might have to pull back on taxing shale. Thy were counting on those funds. if they come at them to hard or even approach they will cap and leave.
" states saw a rise in initial claims - Pennsylvania: 12,302 and Texas 9,107 - both major Shale states."
Those increases, may be the number of people it takes to "Roll-up, Load-up. and Move-out"...
I haven't noticed any changes in the wells that I drive by. Fully lit at night, and plenty of trucks moving around in the day.But you are right. If the Saudi's don't get them, the newly elected Democrat will.
FS, I'm glad to hear that. Currently, the offshore biz is softening a bit.
I am about to launch out a resume' for a job doing a LNG plant conversion/refit for exporting this cheap LNG. One has to be adaptive in this upside down world these days...
Everybody's too busy working at Dunkin Donuts to take a coffee break
Never, ever let them see you sweat. If your market is bad or your personal situation sucks- keep moving, it's harder to hit a moving object. Never say it's really bad or business is slow. Fuck that! Let them assume it's bad, you stay positive and push the fucking rock. That's how I win those big deals that are the difference between a good year and a bad year.
Everyone likes to be with a winner. How many times have you heard, I have the best doctor or I have the best _______ ? Everyone can' t be the best. Either someone is lying or more likely it's a case of perception is reality.
Construction workers say, Howdy oil workers.
Cómo te va?
wrong...Mexicans have the market cornered in Texas on construction...
not just Texas...
That'll teach Vlad!
Think of the hookers!!! Not to mention all those who buy new shiny trucks on credit...
Are you sure, Tyler? State data usually runs a week behind.
