A second senior airline industry source has revealed his belief that there is some sort of conspiracy behind the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. As The Herald Sun reports, Emirates president and CEO Sir Tim Clark made world headlines in October when he revealed his doubts about the fate of the missing plane, which disappeared early in the morning of March 8 this year. Now a second senior airline industry source has voiced his doubts about the fate of the plane, with the even wilder claim that the Boeing 777 may have been shot down by US military personnel who were fearing a September 11-style attack on the US Navy base on Diego Garcia.

The former boss of Proteus Airlines, Marc Dugain, put forward his theory that the Malaysia Airlines plane crashed near the remote Indian Ocean island in a recent edition of Paris Match.
Dugain speculated that the plane’s computers may have been subject to a remote hacking, or an on-board fire, which prompted a diversion from its flight path.
Diego Garcia is a British territory but has been used as a significant US military base and refuelling stop since the 1970s. It is currently home to 1700 military personnel and 1500 civilian contractors.
Many conspiracy theories about the island have been aired since the disappearance of MH370, but the US government has repeatedly denied that the plane came anywhere near the remote territory, which is 3600km from Africa’s east coast and 4700km northwest of Australia.
Dugain said the downing of the plane may have come about for a range of different reasons, including the possibility that it may have been shot out of the sky by the US military, who were fearing a September 11-style attack on the base.
He pointed to the testimony of residents of the Maldives, who reported seeing an airliner travelling towards Diego Garcia on March 8, but whose claims were largely dismissed.
Dugain said a fisherman on Kudahuvadhoo island told him a “huge plane ... with red and blue stripes on a white background” had flown overhead at a low altitude.
The former airline boss claimed he had also been shown pictures of a strange object that had washed up on a beach of neighbouring Baraah island.
According to Dugain, two aviation experts and a military officer believed the object was an empty Boeing fire extinguisher, but the mystery object was subsequently seized by the Maldives military.
In the Paris Match story, Dugain also appeared to dismiss the “handshake technology” evidence supplied by the UK company Inmarsat, saying that such organisations were “very close to intelligence agencies”.
The wild claims come as grieving family members of MH370 passengers accused the Chinese government of failing to provide them with regular updates on the search for the aircraft, which was carrying 239 people at the time that it disappeared.
About 30 people, many of them elderly, took part in a recent protest in Beijing in which they demanded to speak to government officials.
“My son is alive and I want to know what the government is doing to find him,” said Liu Dianyun, the mother of one of the passengers.
Australia’s Joint Agency Coordination Centre recently announced that it had scoured 20 per cent of the search area where MH370 is thought to have gone down.
On Sunday investigators said they could finish scouring the priority zone search area by May if there were no delays with vessels, equipment or weather.
Search efforts will continue during the festive period.
The Fugro Equator is scheduled to depart for Fremantle on Wednesday after finishing its current survey, and the GO Phoenix continues its underwater search.
More than 200,000 sq km has been surveyed and 11,000 sqkm of the sea floor has been searched.

The numbers at the commencement of the system correspond to the second installment for gold and the first tranche for the money, but it does not preclude a progression considered reasonable, and therefore permissible, causes the gold to appreciate relative to the dollar, 15% first day, then 15% the next day and so on, giving time to the US authorities to take the necessary action.

Those early reports were never mentioned again, nor was it ever speculated by anybody on the why the pilot was training himself for those airports either, sounds to me like a critical piece of evidence has been purposely left out.

For aviators, flying is often a hobby, not just a job, so it's not unheard of for pilots to have flight simulators in their homes. This was widely reported at the time the plane came up missing.

One exactly like it flown by the same airline shot down over Ukraine. Plane recovered, but not really seen except for scraps in phone photos. Tower recordings, flight data, flight recordings, and supposedly solid "proof" not seen.
Let us get a list of both planes serial numbers to compare to those in the recovered wreckage.
You might be on to something. It was the exact same plane markings and all. But for a number here or there. There were also several dead bodies on the plane. Who were they? Were they the bodies from MH370? These planes are totally capable of flying remotely from a base station or even anther plane.

Both planes had alibi stories fed to us but there is more information about the one over Ukraine. Aviation experts are starting to distance themselves from the wild official stories. Some might be interested in seeing the serial numbers from each part recovered to be compared with those of MH370.

I don't have any real opinions on the fate of MH370.
What did strike me continually was that no information was provided in a timely manner, and all the information that was eventually released were things that must have been known within 24 hours. All in all, the behaviour of the authorities evokes a lot of suspicion even without delving into any details. The same applies to MH17 where the Ukrainian authorities immediately made claims backed by social media evidence which later turned out to be disingenuous - that alone makes them the primary suspect.

There is a book on the subject....it has an interesting theory. The Olympic was involved in a collision with a Royal Navy warship and badly damaged . It is suggested in the book that the Titanic and Olympic were swapped and the ship that sunk was the Olympic and not the Titanic – also suggests this may have been deliberate. The Olympic (Titanic) then had a long sea going career of nearly 25 years. Could be farfetched but there are things that make you wonder.

They didn't shoot it down. They landed it. Remotely. They changed the numbers and sent it Ukraine a few weeks later to get shot down. Thats why there were dead bodies that were not "fresh" as it was put. Who were the people on the MH17? Probably the already dead ones were from MH317.

It's entirely possible that MH-17 was the same plane as MH-370. People on the ground reported a large plane doing a 180 in the sky. They also talked about an explosion in the sky. They talked about dead bodies falling from the sky- not recently dead bodies, but bloated dead bodies

It's a little disappointing to find the US Navy, which historically has had pretty high standards, not admitting to what they did; if it was in the nature of a mis-calculation regarding base safety, or a some kind of computer defense system; it could be digested by the world's population; it would be a huge black eye for the Navy, but as I say, it's very, very, disappointing if they're taking this "easy" way out, and just slapping a cover-up on the whole thing. If you remember the US Navy shot down an Iranian civilian airliner full of passengers over the Persian Gulf; because they couldn't be sure what kind of aircraft it was and it appeared to be on a course to overfly their ship; not a very bright day for the Navy; but it's unacceptable to just try to pretend it didn't happen.

The technical part of flying a modern airplane is not tha t hard, but you have to be two lawyers to make sure you've got the right up to date permission from t he right authority to deviate 2 miles from your assigned flight path.
Depending on ATC they expect you to be right on your cleared track and can tell if you are deviating track by as little as 0.5nm you can expect a please explain. Most modern nav systems typically show a 95% confidence (ANP = Actual Navigation Performance) in their position < 0.04nm, I've never seen it go above 0.08nm.
These Nav systems have allowed improvement in airspace use as more aircraft are crammed into the same area. Improved altimeters means everyone is flying with just 1000' separation (RVSM), it used to be 2000'. So yes, they are easier to fly, but the tolerance are far tighter than they once were, and is actually a requirement for the autopilot to be functional in RVSM airspace. The expectations of the system (crew and aircraft) is higher than it was in the past. However, automation is not infallible (had one of the two Flight Management Computers die in cruise just two days ago).

The US is obviously sitting on satellite images and knows exactly where this plane is, or went down. What are the odds that this very very important base would not have satellite surveillance in place? Chances are, the plane is in a hangar on that island
