Durables Goods Data Ugly Across The Board, Worst Since Polar Vortex

Tyler Durden's picture

Against expectations of a jubilant 3% surge in November, Durable Goods Orders slipped 0.7% - the biggest miss since December 2013. Perhaps even more worrisome, YoY Durable Goods Orders rose at a mere 0.3% - the slowest since the Polar Vortex. Across the board the data was a disaster, ex-Transports -0.4% (against expectations of a 1% rise), Cap Goods Order non-defense were unchanged (against expectations of a 1% rise) and shipments rose just 0.2% (missing expectations of a 1.3% rise)... But apart from that, everything's great.

MoM miss biggest since Dec 2013

YoY slowest rate since the Polar Vortex...

And breaking it down looks just as bad...

Miss...miss... miss... miss....

Must be the weather!!

Wow, I was really concerned....

We know what the theme is and it will not be defeated simply with numbers, fundamentals...HAH!

This is a Santa economy, everyone putting cookies and milk under the tree while hoping for a really good present in the morning. Visions of sugar plumbs running through their heads.

Which is a market positive, right? Why can't we accept that things are getting better by the day? All our prayers will be answered and under the tree come Christmas morning. Where did I put my fairy dust anyway?

Yes but burning more oil than fuel and stinking up the place. There is rotation but no power, simply wasting resources. This thing needs a full rebuild. Motor honey ain't going to do it anymore.

Firing on all cylinders would be encouraging if it weren't for the fact that V8s, once common, have been phased out in favor of V6s and I4s.

All that durable goods growth must be hidden in the deep ocean (with AGW). GDP Q3 was revised up to 5%. With hookers and blow, do longer noses get included now?

I find it so frustrating that our government can't figure this out. If we just had half of Americans digging holes and the other half filling them and government printing the money to make payroll, we would be in high cotton!

Its amazing that reversion to conservative fundamentals is completely unacceptable but there is no question about the validity of returning to the FDR template that was a disaster.

The goal of government is the destruction of independence. We must all be inside the fence. Communists always built walls not to just keep people in but others out. Governments do not want to see anyone outside the fence fat and prosperous. DANGER!

Well, the savy infestor knows that this great news. It is an obvious indicator of pent up demand just sitting on the sidelines waiting to flood the market going forward.

The seasoned professional understands this. One can not expect rookies and nay sayers to properly read between the lines of raw data.

Very bullshitish! MOAR on the way!
