Caught On Tape: What Happens When A California Driver Finally Snaps
In the idyllic foothills of the Sierras amid the forested beauty of Tahoe National Forest, it appears the California drought finally got to Deirdre Orozco. As the following crazy clip shows, the 50-year-old Santa Clara woman went full Mad Max on two young female drivers after they reportedly made "a rude gesture" to Orozco after she had been tailgating. The dramatic cellphone video of the event has ended with Orozco being charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of false imprisonment, unlawful use of a badge, reckless driving and resisting arrest. A Northern California woman made her first court appearance Tuesday after a road rage incident was captured in a dramatic cellphone video that showed a vehicle forcing a car off a mountain highway.
Two women frantically called the California Highway Patrol on Saturday afternoon to report that they were being repeatedly cut off by the driver of a Ford Explorer Sport Trac pickup truck on Interstate 80, about 60 miles northeast of Sacramento.
"She just hit our car, she just hit our car. She's pushing us off of the road. Yes, she's pushing us off the road. She's coming for us," passenger Delanie Strykul tells a CHP dispatcher on the video, her voice shaking. "Please help us."
The video shows the Explorer forcing their Mazda onto the shoulder as the Mazda's driver screams.
"I could not believe this was real. I was sitting there going, 'This has to be a joke,'" Strykul told The Associated Press on Tuesday.

The suspect, Deirdre Orozco, 50, of Santa Clara, was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of false imprisonment, unlawful use of a badge, reckless driving and resisting arrest.
She was held in lieu of $250,000 bail and was due back in court Friday after pleading not guilty to multiple charges from two incidents days apart.

Tahoe brew indeed. There is a great brewery in Truckee, Tahoe Mountain Brewing. They venture beyond typical US microbrew styles, into the sour realm. Good shit. Highly recommend it.

The dispatcher eventually instructed the two women to exit at Dutch Flat, where an awaiting officer at a service station (donut shop?) came to their aid. Orozco followed them into the gas station, where CHP officers initiated an enforcement stop.
The Explorer driver, later identified as Orozco, continued to a relative’s house in Roseville, and allegedly threw large rocks through a front window while threatening the residents with bodily harm. The family called police.

Aside from cliche sayings, you should remember that unless central nervous system damage is great enough to make it impossible for a person to carry on, even a shot to the heart does not guarantee that you are instantly out of danger. A person can carry on for 5-15 seconds if the damage is localized to the heart. OTOH, if you carry something big enough, a shot to the heart can blow out blood vessels in the brain, causing that central nervous system damage. Just a few weeks ago, 100 yards or so from where I sit here in CA, a guy got cut off pulling out of a gas station, he backed up to the pumps to have a word with the 18-year old who cut him off, and the kid put a bullet in his head. Guy is dead, kid looking at most or all of life in prison. All caught on surveillance video.
