How To Stay Warm In Philadelphia - Burn Dollar Bills
Apparently taking a page out of China's book, Factually reports the Philadelphia Federal Reserve office (apparently aware of the worthlessness of their fiat currency) sends old currency to local power plants, where it's burned for electricity. As WSJ reports, The Fed destroys more than 5,000 tons of U.S. currency a year - most of it once went to landfills, but the central bank has pushed for years to go green with all that green. It appears we have come a long way from the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond’s 1953 annual report when it boasted it had "money to burn."
From 1953...
Philadelphia is literally burning money to keep the lights on. And that's a good thing! They used to just shred it and send it to landfills, letting all that energy go to waste.
...
"Rather than just sitting in a landfill, it's producing electricity for residents in the Delaware Valley, here in our district," an official at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia proudly told the Wall Street Journal.
Other municipalities around the country have similar currency incineration programs, including Los Angeles County, where they burn as much as 500 tons of money per year. I suppose the image of burning money is a good reminder to turn the lights off when you leave a room. Your dollar bills are literally going up in smoke.

This thread needs some enviro-hippies advocating bitcoin.

Fiats intrinsic is calculated in BTU's!
Is it possible to pay for hookers and blow with BitCoin yet?
Yeah, use the 'bump' app.
bump or hump app?
You can't burn gold!!!
But it's a good conductor so maybe you could put electricity through it to heat it up and make yourself a nice stove to cook food and radiator to keep you warm in winter.
wrong, if you want it to heat, you want a high resistance material, not a good conductor... conductance is a measure of how easy electrons will flow through a conductor, and resistance is the inverse... if too much electrons get "stuck" into the conductor, less current is able to pass through and part of the energy is wasted, usually into heat or light (thats how light bulbs and coil heaters work)... gold has high conductance low resistance, hence a terrible heater
Gold is also very ductile - can be drawn into long, thin wires. Increase the length, decrease cross sectional area, and if you still have any problems then pump up the Amps.
;)
But yeah, you got a good point there somewhere. High resistance = less current flow = less power ( = I2R ) so I guess we gotta find that happy balance between the two ...
Mostly right, but current increases with load. To overcome issues related to wire size, increase voltage, then step it down via transformers at end use.
Thats how those relatively thin wires on the poles are able to distribute power across long distances.
According to the Peak Oil crowd, you will want to calculate BTU Returned to BTU invested (BTUR/BTUI).
;-)
Bitcoin sputters for a few seconds, but to get it going you need bales of old fiat, an address at "World Trade Center" and the latest "free-energy explosives".
my neighbor's step-mother makes $68 hourly on the laptop . She has been out of work for 10 months but last month her pay check was $15196 just working on the laptop for a few hours. try here... www.works3.com
What you fail to mention is that the "laptop' is really the lap of a donkey and she is a performer in a Tijuana animal sex show.
Where can I buy a FiatLog? I would like to start my fireplace with that. Do they have informercials yet?
fuck you and fuck your fiat! Stupid Muskrat bitch Yellen under congressional testimony: "We at the fed thought it would be better to burn the money causing deflation which we claim to be fighting rather than injecting the money into the meconomy into much needed hands for discretionary spending because you know the economy might over heat and we might actually have growth rather than lies we tell you filthy dog goyim that there is growth when there really isnt"...
Hey all you stupid pale skinned idiots who still think its cool to down play black people and call them animals and they need to be put down and are the scourge of society you don't think these bankers and zionist think the same of you? lol you are all niggers now! you have much more in common with Tyrone from flatbush than Yellen from the fed, you ignorant window lickers fucking cunts!

WANTED: A few migrant workers with excellent patience and attention to detail. Above average eyesight and ability to recognize numbers a must. Unlimited supply of scotch tape provided. Pays 20% face value for a limited time only.
Not that I'll ever be "ready" but I'm looking forward to the day when I can roast the last few stacks of "small bills" I keep in posession. I think I'll take them out to my cabin to start a beach fire or roll them up for Firestarter in the woodstove...
Some who may be more conspiracy minded may view this as a way to hasten the process to end cash altogether.
Why have dirty money when one can have a nice clean card, or better yet, a nice chip implanted in oneself?
So much money is "lost" due to cash transactions and non recording of taxes, think of all the revenue that will be gained "for the Chilluns"
For. The. Chilllllllluuuuuuunnnnnnnnssssssssssssss................
Yep. Funny thing is that "Cashless Society" means the banks end up with 100% of the money 100% of the time and yet they still go broke and need to steal more from the workers.
You will be able to do this at home soon: http://www.zerohedge.com/sites/default/files/images/user5/imageroot/hild...
You wish. The ATMs don't hold that much cash. Everything will just go cashless.
Breathe deep - there is plenty of traces of cocaine, marijuana, and other drugs attached to most US paper money!
this isn't new fed been doin this for decades a whole lot of cash has been incenerated over the years id estimate 10 trillion easily. Better used in the furnace than in your filthy goyim hands! ya you really are a house nigga now go make master Yellen a sandwich in your maid outfit with your bunny rabbit killer Ar15 slung over your shoulder cuz your sure as shit aint gonna use it!
Old paper wears out. Needs to be replaced with new paper.
???? Okay Mr Red Arrow. I stand corrected. Paper lasts forever?
I guess it comes down to the amount of paper smoked to which point is valid.
PT, how dare you bring common sense against this extraordinarily stupid article?
ZH shows a picture of a windmill, you'd better tilt at it, boy.
Why use paper? Many countries use polymers instead of paper. Australia is the leader in this and the polymer money lasts 5 times longer than the old paper money did. Most banknotes in Australia last 10 years and many are still circulating after 15 years; and they pick up far less crap than the paper money did and when worn out the polymer is recycled.
Also most countries would have replaced your dollar bill equivalent with a coin. Coins are great for vending machines and here in Australia there is the one and two dollar coins.
"bunny rabbit killer Ar15 slung over your shoulder cuz your sure as shit aint gonna use it!"
So, you've been using yours? I didn't think so.
So, STFU.
I have Kalishnikov stamped and inspected all the way from mother Russia. mines was made to be used fuckwit so eat your own dick
I hear that if one were to stuff the whole Fed into the incinerator, it could power the whole city of Philadelphia for a year.
The banksters need to repay us.
Burn the Fed.
They're trapped the Hundred is the biggest bill we use.. the first time you see a bill bigger than a hundred in your wallet you know the Jig is up. but before that you will know it's close when your wallet is to fat for your pocket and it's full of Hundreds.
Been well over 20 years and the biggest bill (in my country) that the ATM spits out is a fifty. You can only get hundreds by going to a bank. Hyperinflation will come and you still won't be able to get bigger that a fifty. You'll be forced to go cashless because there won't be enough fiftys in the ATM ...or the bank ... and the max withdrawal from a branch will still be 3 grand ... and the minimum reportable amount will still be ten grand ... this shit don't happen by accident. Relax and let inflation do the rest ...
The bill will never increase. That would thwart the long game of an all electronic currency.
If you think a do not fly list is bad, just wait until you are on a do not buy list.
That'll stop you rebelilous fuckers.
There is a 'Trash-To-Steam' plant across the river in Camden where most of Camden County's trash goes.

I see they were burning silver certificates as well. What were they replaced with, pray tell?
I understood that silver certificates were only redemeemable in Federal Reserve Notes from the 70's or so onwards.
Of course they burn money in the USA because they are too stupid to stop the circulation of one and two dollar bills and have instead ONLY one and two dollar coins. If I remember correctly this would save some $500 million and more per year.
Continued use of $1 and $2 paper bills has been an issue for the Fed for decades now. (Used to work in operations for them). More than HALF of the currency handled by the Fed is in the form of $1 notes. Costs a fortune to process them and take the won out ones out of circulation and replace them with new bills. You're lucky to get 6 months out f a $1 bill. Pretty much every other nation has replaced paper notes with coins for equivalent 'buying power' - e.g. $1 or $2 coin Euros, etc. They've wanted to eliminate these bills for decades and mandate replacement with coins (which last decades) but it's not politically viable. Getting rid of the penny makes sense too but same issue:
YOU CAN'T REMIND THE SHEEP THAT THEIR MONEY IS BECOMING WORTHLESS
Who has the contract to provide the paper for the US banknotes? That contract must be worth hundreds of millions every year and that provides a big incentive (bribes, kickbacks etc) for the pressure to change to coins/polymer to be ignored.
The highest bill is the $100 in part because of the "war on drugs". They want to make it harder to move illicit cash around so no more $10,000 notes, no more bearer bonds and lots of complaints that other countries have higher denominations (like the 500 Euro note).
Yeah and I'm ready to go dumpster diving at the Federal Reserve for some barbaric relic.
First the fed paper....then the stores that used to take it....then the mansions of the business owners.
Would you throw old gold in the furnace?
Don't burn dollars, burn the Satanic tribe that runs the Fed! Germany was more correct than they knew!
The dollar continues to strengthen but should take a rest soon...
