Obama Sanctions North Korea For Sony Hack Which Was Perpetrated By Disgruntled Former Employee

Tyler Durden's picture

US foreign policy just jumped the shark: a few days after both the FBI and the US State department were humiliated when it was revealed that it wasn't North Korea but a disgruntled, laid off Sony employee that was responsible for the "hack", and when the best possible course of action would have been to simply let this latest embarrassing incident fade from memory, moments ago Obama - currently not working out next to a rainbow or flashing his support of "Shaka" -  just signed his first executive order of 2015, imposing even more sanctions against North Korea.

From Bloomberg:

President Obama signs order imposing additional sanctions on North Korea in response to country’s “efforts to undermine U.S. cyber-security and intimidate U.S. businesses and artists exercising their right of freedom of speech,” according to Treasury Dept statement.

Sanctions target 3 entities, 10 individuals

Including North Korea’s intelligence agency, arms dealer, North Korea’s representatives in Namibia, Sudan, Iran, Syria, China

“Even as the FBI continues its investigation into the cyber-attack against Sony Pictures Entertainment, these steps underscore that we will employ a broad set of tools to defend U.S. businesses and citizens, and to respond to attempts to undermine our values or threaten the national security of the United States,” Treasury Sec. Lew says in statement

That this action is so stupid no amount of commentary would possibly do it justice is quite clear, which is why we patiently await North Korean TV to escalate its comedic feud with the "monkey in a tropical jungle."

Perhaps the only silver lining is that Obama did not launch a nuclear attack on Pyongyang outright, although there is still a 2 year period until January 2017. And anything goes, especially once the NSA fabricates another YouTube clip.

This action by Obama proves to us conclusively that the NSA and CIA are pretty useless when it comes to external cyber attacks. All those monitoring is done to curb the freedoms and keep tabs on the prison population aka anyone who lives within the borders of USA.

Meanwhile, President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, spent the first night of the new year at Vintage Cave, an upscale restaurant in Hawaii where membership at the restaurant can set you back $500,000. The restaurant's prix fixe menu is reportedly $295, with a 13-15 course meal. One local magazine estimates "total bill for two, with wine, will approach $1,000."

I wrote this in August about another article, but it applies equally to this topic:

There are more than a few theories asserting that the security services draw in the psychotic sociopaths of our society.

The have no conscience, they believe they are gods, and as such they believe they innately define what is good, and what is evil.

They will line you up and put you into the gas chambers without a second thought. They will drop the rear panel of a troop truck and machine gun you down where you stand. They will put you on your knees then walk down the line putting single a bullet into your brain, and congratulate themselves for "removing" the impure from the world at-large.

They see power for themselves as given by God - be it a Christian, Islamic, Jewish, Hindu, or any other belief system's god. Like the head of "Golden Sacks," they are "doing god's work."

They are disconnected from reality. They live in their own subculture cut-off from the sufferings and misery of the common folk. I can't think of a better description than that used in this article: "our masters are in the grip of a delusionary nightmare."

There has never been a good outcome from bad minds. They always led society into wars that kill everyone but themselves. They sit at the White House, or 10 Downing, or the Kremlin, or any other seat of government power, and order the murder of others who have done nothing more than exist.

Then they brag about the blood dripping from their hands: "I," said Barack Obama in admitting he is a war criminal guilty of crimes against humanity - for which he will never be arrested and tried, "am really good at killing people."

People murdered without charge, trial, defense, jury deliberation, or any other basic standard of civilized behavior. Obama - and others like him - have returned the world to the barbaric standards of kill, or be killed. He - and others like him - are animals, worthy only of imprisonment and execution.

If the Nazis hung, if the Japanese hung, if the world demanded of them the ultimate penalty for their wonton murders, then how can we demand any less of Obama, and the Military / Industrial / Orwellian Complex that follows in their footsteps?

Not usually one to defend him, but the American people were told there was a crisis of North Korea hacking American companies. The Us gov is always looking at excuses to aggress against other countries. The Obama admin has been looking extremely foolish and weak on the world stage, this is an easy way for him to look like he is a strong leader, especially since he cando so without much in the way of consequences since it's NK. And even though we all said from the start the whole NK hacking thing was bogus, I bet even a month from now, the average dumbass in this country will STILL think it was NK.

That seems like glib rationalization. Some sick, twisted part of me thinks that all these world-wide fuckups that Obama/CIA/FBI/NSA/USSA Inc. are committing are ON PURPOSE. That they WANT to appear as insane, psychopathic axe murderers on the loose. Either that really is what these people are, or: they ARE all that, *AND* it has deeper connotations...

Maybe it's a way of making the west look like utter bumbling fools, while in contrast the BRICS are made to look like a bed of roses? So that when the collapse happens, people will embrace the BRICS for salvation, and the new financial system that they will represent: digitally based one world currency (eventually, after people get used to the SDR's).

Problem:reaction:solution at it's finest; Hegel must be drinking fine wine in his grave...

Greenskeeper:

Before now, Obama. et al. looked foolish. Now they look like homocidal maniacs - insane murderers no better than IS; only their technique is different.

The Deep State is showing it is completely out-of-control by any standard of civilized behavior. Truth is reduced to whatever they say, grouned in nothing but their instantaneous needs.

The Ukraine psychosis should have told us everything we needed to know. Kiev parroted whatever the CIA told them to say. The MSM reduced itself to psycho propaganda hacks echoing the lies without hesitation.

This is, to me - and should be to all people - the final proof that the government is completely disconnected from reality. It is a lie - with a finger on the nuclear trigger.

Time runs short to find another place to live - for soon these psychotics will erase life as we know it on great swaths of the Earth. If the blast doesn't get you, the radiation will.

ast Russian wars: a quick look at history The number of well-informed commentators, politicians, blogger and observers who are predicting a war - or at least of a serious risk of war - between Russia and the USA is sharply rising.  Though I myself am rather inclined to believe that the US will use the Ukrainian junta to attack Russia rather then risk a direct confrontation,  I would not go as far as saying that I find a direct US-Russian war impossible.  If only because many wars are not deliberately started, but rather stumbled into.  For all these reasons, it is, I think, high time to look at the historical record of Russia in wars.

It turns out that a military historian in Russia already did all the work for us.  Nikolai Shefov is the author of 10 books about Russian history including one entitled "The Battles of Russia" in which he not only looks at each war, but actually at all the major battles fought in all the wars of Russia between 1700 and 1940 (he stops at the Soviet-Finnish war and does not include WWII).  Here are his findings:

Between 1700 and 1940  Russia/USSR fought in 34 wars and won 31 and in 392 battle and won 279.  We could say that Russia won 91% of her wars and 71% of her battles.  Russia's opponents included: Swedes, French, Germans, Turks, Poles, Tatars, Finns, Caucasians, Japanese, Chinese, Austrians, Hungarians, British, Italians and Central Asians. http://vineyardsaker.blogspot.com/2015/01/past-russian-wars-quick-look-a...

If only because many wars are not deliberately started, but rather stumbled into.

Exactly.  And a lot of those wars "will be over by Christmas" too!  I think that was the prevailing attitude with both the Civil War and WWI.  Actually, this one could be, so long as it is started any time between now and Dec. 24, the point being is that the level of destruction that will be caused by the wars is very often drastically understated.  The stupid fucks trying to back Russia into a corner aren't just playing with fire, they're playing with nuclear fire.  It is an unpredictable situation with assholes who have a habit of making poor decisions at every corner.  Why?  Because we're "exceptional," and to believe otherwise is heresy.  Going into the situation with that attitude means that in their minds, they can do no wrong and make no mistakes.  It will take a major catastrophe to convince them otherwise.  At that point, their narriative, if they're still alive, will be "but we never could have predicted this!"  Stupid fucks.

Fri, 01/02/2015 - 18:11 | 5616392 Parrotile
Parrotile's picture

The problem with "predicting" the outcomes of any wars, based entirely on starting conditions (or maybe in this case, pre-starting conditions, since  things are still developing), is that there are too many known variables, and too many "as yet unknown" variables, so prediction is even less accurate than weather forecasting.

On the basis of past history alone, Russia has a very good track record. Russia is also very prepared (and increasing their levels of preparedness whilst the West talks, and talks . . . .), and a war on their doorstep is going to be a breeze for their logistics, but a logistical nightmare for the US "Coalition", especially once that "Coalition" starts to fray at the edges (which it will - Europeans are very aware that it'll be them who bear the brunt of the destruction and casualties should the conflict remain regional).

Will saner minds prevail? If it was left to Russia, certainly. If it's left to the USA (with the "War Party" now in control of the Senate), - "not so sure".

Will a regional scuffle degenerate into something far worse? All bets are off there. In a "conventional" conflict NATO hasn't a chance in hell against Russia, so if things do escalate the "nuclear option" will most likely be initiated by NATO forces (quite possibly accidentally / "Rogue Command"). Then what? Russia has the capability to respond in considerable force, and depending how pissed off they are by then, that response may well be "very considerable".

Then?  " Gotta protect NATO from "Russian Aggressiontm ", so strategic response (bilateral) here we come. At which stage we can all kiss our future quality of existence goodbye.

Fred Leuchter

Arrested and jailed in Germany. Financially ruined.

Background and contribution:

An American execution expert, Leuchter designed and maintained gas chambers for several US penal institutions. He was sent by Ernst Zündel to investigate Auschwitz, Majdanek, Dachau, Hartheim and other alleged "Nazi Death Camps" and "gassing facilities." Author of the devastating series of Leuchter Reports. (I, II, III, IV) and many articles and videotaped presentations that resulted from these investigations, Leuchter was blacklisted in the US and hounded by the Holocaust Promotion Lobby and the world's lapdog media. He was arrested and jailed in Germany for giving an anti-Holocaust lecture for Günther Deckert, a well-known political party leader. Allowed out on bail, Leuchter returned to the US. and chose not to go back to Germany to stand trial. Nonetheless, he lost his livelihood as a result. Sensational Zündel witness in the Great Holocaust Trial in 1988. Leuchter, although present in the courtroom in Munich, was not allowed to testify about his research findings in Auschwitz for Ernst Zündel in the German (Munich) Trial in 1991.

Well, he DID say that he'd have "more flexibility after the Election".

Bet no-one expected that to mean "more flexibility to kill at will"! However, that statement assumes that he has an active role in US Foreign Policy. I suspect that the US "Teleprompter Reader in Chief" has no more an active role than the News Anchors have in creating the real news.

Those pulling the strings prefer to have a useful front-man to take the flak, whilst they "look after business" in their own ways, preferably well-hidden from those they intend to manipulate / eliminate at a time of their choice.

Sanctions on what exactly?

What do we sell them? What is it we're threatening to cut off now? Send satellites up to block the sunlight? What?

If "sanctions" didn't stop them from developing a nuke program, what makes Obama think MORE sanctions will get them to stop playing around on the internet?

Obama sounds like a stressed-out mother on the freeway with her kids in the back seat cutting up...He/she yells "Don't make me come back there!", and those kids just laugh at her cause they're doing 80 mph.

What if Obama really is just the president? If that is true, then the person who made this decision is insane and that is who is at the helm of this country.

The following CNBC article would go something like, "The world is better off since as of last night Nkorea no longer exists.  This is bullish in our estimation as this makes the nuclear threat less significant".

It's like only the MSM story matters.  It establishes fact for the masses.  If the disgruntled former employee story is not told, or mentioned briefly as a "theory," the first story sticks with 90% (a guess) of the viewers.  People like zerohedge readers are irrelevant because we are too few and the armor of conformity is nearly impenetrable so there's little chance of us being influential; though maybe in time, when the lie machine begins to fail, we get scapegoated and black bagged.

I disagree, I am involved in politics on the local level and the amount of distrust from the older guys in the "leadership" is much much higher now then 5 years ago.  We are having an impact using terms like Hillary Bush or Jeb Clinton really do a number on the rank and file.  We just need to keep stating the obvous simialarities between the "leadership" at the top.  And keep repeading the Discrunteled employee story on the comments sections of websites with links to the story.  Look at the Rating for MSN, CNN even Fox they are plumiting people don't trust them anymore they know they are being feed bull shit now.  Don't give up, now is the time to double our efforts.

And when I told them that  both the FBI and the state dept. said ift was a Sony employee, most of them developed the attitude that "nobody really knows". Getting away from the cities won't help you much, unless you just want to observe the mushroom cloud from a distance.

It'll be on like Donkey Kong once the first device pops.

If you survive the initial strike, you may wish that you had been at ground zero for the thermal blast wave. Radiation sickness is not a way that anyone would want to check out by.

Fri, 01/02/2015 - 16:09 | 5615898 seek
seek's picture

If you do any serious research, you'll find that, crazily enough, it's not that hard to survive a nuclear attack with some relatively modest precautions. 99% of fallout radiation is gone after 2 weeks, so radiation sickness isn't that big of a concern if one takes cover.

Surviving the mess that comes after is the bigger challenge. No doubt supply distruptions, probably some do-gooder government types thinking superdome 2.0 on a mass scale is a good idea, starving hoards looking for food, and probably some insane continuity of government plans than involve drafting survivors to launch a ground counterattack.

Agreed...to a certain point.

It's the long-lived radionuclides that should be the most concerning. Strontium 89 and 90 are some ugly motherfuckers.

Another point of consideration would be all of the nuclear power plants located around the world. What happens to those facilities is truly a worst-case scenario.

However, the Chinese control NK. Fat Boy would be gone in 30 seconds if the Chinese Agent in his cabinet was ordered to shoot him.

This is an oblique attack against China. It is worthy of jr high school.

If there is action against NK, China will take Taiwan.

"Look, I know we owe you tons of money. Why don't I set up a war w/N Korea? You could take Taiwan then use the unified Korea in the BRICs club.

"Excellent Bath House.

"That damn Bass guy has already revealed we're going to Kill the Dollar.

"Excellent. We will help you eliminate the NK leadership. It will be replaced with a Regime under our Control. This agreement to give us all of Korea and Taiwan will enable us to help support your money-printing. Now, we must discuss the arrangement of the Bullion delivery."

Therefore, they are LOOKING for confrontation, in order to decoy the masses. They are now looking for an enemy the Chinese and Russians will accept, up to a point.

I tend to agree that this latest escalation of international tensions has again gone personal. President Obama despises attacks levied against his supreme will by other so called 'world leaders'.

Domestically, Dear Leader Obama has taken to insuring retribution against his opponents in the population living in America.

Dear Leader must be ruthless against those who oppose him.

President Obama will teach those who oppose him a lesson and it shall be severe!!
