Having tested the almighty 10,000 level, Germany's DAX is plunging back to pre-FOMC earth levels following the weak CPI print this morning...

It's about time reality strikes...
Nothing to see here. Move along.
More like "Move along, there's a hole opening up underneath you", lol.
Sprekenz zee dick bitchezzz
Just enough to get me in trouble.
Seriously though....this shouldn't affect the US markets....right?
Makes me wonder...
What is the strike price for a call on reality?
Plunge...... I love that word, especially when I'm long UVXY.
Isn't reality about 4000?
Reality left the building years ago. I think it's hanging out in the parking lot somewhere with a bottle of cheap booze in a brown paper bag.
Have you ever seen expensive booze in a brown paper bag? James, hold on to my courvoisier vsop I need to pinch a loaf behing the dumpster.
As long as they take my EBT card, I'm buying nothing but the best.
Those guys are walking out with champagne....and I'm walking out with MD 20/20.
Reality for now appears to be 4000 DAX, but the monthly is showing a parallel universe down around 3000:

God damnit james this caviar and schlitz ran right through me
"Reality left the building years ago. I think it's hanging out in the parking lot somewhere with a bottle of cheap booze in a brown paper bag."
"Nothing compliments a fine jug wine like a brown paper bag." -fletch? (I forget who said it)
4000 on the S&P?...sounds more like it?
I guess lost Russian business doesn´t help.
Plunge!
That's like what the water did in my kitchen sink yesterday after I plunged the drain. Unfortunatly, it didn't flow down the drain. A coupling slipped off the drain pipe and it all just dumped out into the cabinet below. I closed the cabinet door, walked away and declared it "fixed".
Can I have a job at the Feral Reserve now?
You'll fit in nicely, they'll probably give you the desk next to mine. The guy who sat there visited the wrong websites a bit too often. I told him time and again: porn is no problem, but ZH is definitely off limits during working hours. But would he listen?
Oh, and another thing: Feral reserve? They don't take kindly to those jokes over here, you know. Better get your act together before you move in. Pay is good, though, but don't forget to leave your conscience at the reception desk each morning.
If you can get me in, I'll call it whatever you want me to. Should I refer to Janet as "The Great and Powerful Oz" or did that nickname only work for Ben Bernanke?
You will damn well start the way I started over here: by kissing the ass of the guy sitting at the desk next to yours. And it'll take at least one QE before you're even allowed to mention the name of the Anointed One.
Hogan, you have some explaining to do...
Russia should suspend payments on their foreign debt. Once German banks start creaking some Lehman Bros. moments shouldn´t be far off in neighbouring countries.
They won't do it.
I don't know if you've noticed, but Putin hasn't done squat in response to the sanctions against Russia.
The only thing he did was to implement a one year ban on food products from the E.U.
Oh and don't get your hopes up on the Grexit. Syriza have said they don't want to leave the euro.
Syriza is the latest scheme from the PTB to manipulate the steeple into thinking they have an alternative; hence the massive pulpit Syriza has been given in the media.
A truly rebellious party would be blacklisted.
makes me wonder if it's all just a game played by the Rothchilds. The number of countries not controlled by a Rothchild central bank can be counted on one hand and Russia is not one of them.
Bottom is in for the DAX.
Shouldn't that low CPI print be bullish? even more not yet priced in QE (talk)?
Or did "bad news" become bad news all of the sudden?
or the receding tide of USDs is getting all boats... lower. only outside the dollarzone, of course
Also letting the ruble tank further, use their dollar reserves to buy up foreign holdings, and then start demanding payment in rubles for energy exports to Europe would be a good move for the Russians.
All indices erasing that ridiculous one day gain of Dec 18 and filling the resultant chart gaps
DAX gap is 9589.2, so almost there now
Gap filled :-)
There's still an unfilled gap way above current level at 10014.99 created at Dec 9....
Let me know when the "markets" go to zero, then I might believe the "plunge" language...
according to google translate btfd = kdvd
Weidmann just got his ass handed to him....so this means QE is in the cards, a little foresight would suggest Euro stocks should be going up to preposition for that eventuality...or in this case inevitability with these cpi numbers
Massive QE already priced in...
you think the BundesBank is under pressure when the German stock market goes down? what makes you think that Germany is so much like the US?
the little female troll will walk out and do a patience pose again soon
Big drop into the close. Europe's stocks look like they are about to rollover.
South Africa's JSE off 3% down 1600+ points on the day
In all seriousness, I had a dream last night... My dad bought a bird with rainbow colored frizzy hair (sort of like a clown wig) that had the knowledge+skills to make various mixed drinks (booze). It was a doomsday sort of thing that intelligent prepper-type folks were talking about on Zerohedge was a wise investment to have in case of a global collapse. LOL
Long booze.
Long birds.
Dare to dream.
I got drunk on shore leave once in Tahiti. The bird might be my kid.
ah monday humor LOL now we return to our program "As the World Burns"
Check out the 1 and 5 year charts for the DAX & FTSE.
FTSE
DAX
DAX plateau'd a year ago and the FTSE is already on it's way back down.
Checkout the difference between them since October - DAX gained almost 1000 points over the FTSE in just 8 weeks !!!
Bubble territory ?
People forget that the DAX includes all (pre- tax) dividends. .
If you want to see the REAL Dax with just the price index, here it is. Click on tne 3y and 10 y charts and draw your own conclusions:

Very good, I was just about to point out that DAX is including didvidends (that's why it's called "performance index"), then I saw that you already did. And rightly so!
Yes, there is no argument here, but it isn't really relevant and does not justify the near 1000 point gain in eight weeks or so...
Similarly, if / when this market does plunge (hoping) we'll see just how fast those performance points are shed.... Back in 2008, the DAX was falling between 300 and 500 points a day
And right on cue, down it goes !
Anyone see the French 3/6/12 month BTF auctions? All well into negative yield territory.
Don't they know how to BTFD over there?

10,000? WTH happened to 6500?
It's a performance Index don't you know ;-)
EUROSTOXX 1/2 VALUATION OF US', 8 P/E VS 21 P/E so no QE in europe not priced in at all
It's not just Germany. This could be the week that every stock exchange finally joins commodities, metals, futures and currencies (except teh dollar) in a race to the bottom.

Amen to that - Does anyone else notice that the Dow no longer moves in line with other indices on a percentage basis, only a similar amount of points per day....
