Thousands Of NYC Cops Turn Back On de Blasio Again: "Mayor Has No Respect For Us. Why Should We Respect Him?"
When thousands of cops showed up yesterday to pay their respects to their slain colleague Wenjian Liu who was murdered in cold blood two weekends ago, perhaps the only question on everyone's mind was whether the local police would - once again - turn their back on NYC mayor Bill de Blasio, who as we reported previously, the NYPD is engaged in a cold war with, with arrests and citations plummeting in recent weeks as a result of what has become a police boycott of city hall.
The answer: a resounding yes, and as the AP reports, "thousands of police turned their backs Sunday as Mayor Bill de Blasio eulogized an officer shot dead with his partner, repeating a stinging display of scorn for the mayor despite entreaties to put anger aside."
The show of disrespect came outside the funeral home where Officer Wenjian Liu was remembered as an incarnation of the American dream: a man who had emigrated from China at age 12 and devoted himself to helping others in his adopted country. The gesture among officers watching the mayor's speech on a screen added to tensions between the mayor and rank-and-file police even as he sought to quiet them.
After hundreds of officers turned their backs to a screen where de Blasio's remarks played during Ramos' funeral last week, Police Commissioner William Bratton sent a memo urging respect, declaring "a hero's funeral is about grieving, not grievance."
But some officers and police retirees said they still felt compelled to spurn the mayor. Police union leaders have said he contributed to an environment that allowed the officers' slayings by supporting protests following the police killings of Eric Garner on Staten Island and Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.
"The mayor has no respect for us. Why should we have respect for him?" said retired New York Police Department Detective Camille Sanfilippo, who was among those who turned their backs Sunday. Retired NYPD Sgt. Laurie Carson called the action "our only way to show our displeasure with the mayor."
As the AP adds, after Sunday's show of disdain, Patrolmen's Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch said officers "have a right to have our opinion heard, like everyone else that protests out in the city" and noted that officers' "organic gesture" was outside the service. The mayor got a respectful reception among police officials inside.
The NYPD declined to comment, and de Blasio spokesman Phil Walzak said the mayor was focused on honoring the fallen officers.
And then there was this: retired NYPD officer John Mangan stood with a sign that read: "God Bless the NYPD. Dump de Blasio." And Patrick Yoes, a national secretary with the 328,000-member Fraternal Order of Police, praised Lynch's stance toward the mayor.

"Across this country, we seem to be under attack in the law enforcement profession," Yoes said. "We are public servants. We are not public enemies."
That may well be the case, yet many wonder: just why the need for such an unprecedented police militarization that has many debating whether the SWATization of America's police forces isn't just a preview of what is to come?

He ought to fire the whole lot of insubordinate government union tit sucking tics. When their pension system fails they will be singing a different tune.
The pigthuggs need to show respect for the rights of the citizens. Until and unless the pigsthuggs apologize for the murders they commit every year and meaningfully reform their 'tactics', I wouldn't piss on one if he were on fire.
If I ever visit that city, I would not be calling any occupy fucks or prepper assholes to save me. On second thought, I won't be visiting that city.
You remind me of the ignorant people who preach #whiteprivilidge or how white people owe black people something, or those white people who think all blacks are savages. You literally have as much of a point in what you say police should apologize for as Al Sharpton has saying that 'white people' should apologize. Every grouping of humans has some percentage, maybe 3%, 5%, 10%, whatever, who are just not good humans. But by all means, group everyone together and then take offense at what they've done as a whole. I'm assuming when you do that, you'll hate every person of every nation and every race, creed and gender.
You cant have a peaceful society (for long) with murdering sociopaths in charge of armed enforcement. To those who have eyes and ears, this is pretty basic. You miss the point because there is something blurring your ability to see clearly. Whether that is an agenda or a blown vacuum-tube or an ego-on-steroids that is blurring your vision I cannot say. The rest of your statement is demonstrable garbage. Some groups of people are more violent and less intelligent than others. There is a reason Africa never became an engine for philosophical thought, commerce, or technology. Unlike choosing one's ethnicity, individuals choose how they make a living. Working for .gov, and particularly in 'law enforcement' is an interesting choice. You dont create wealth when you work for .gov. You TAKE wealth, maybe you reallocate it, maybe it is re-invested . . . outside the discipline of a cost of capital or discounted cash flow analysis. In other words, .gov workers are inherently TAKERS. Not only are they takers, but they are also highly incentivized to see the state become larger, better funded, and more powerful versus the individual. This trend is working SO WELL right now in regards to business and banking . . . Finally, when you choose a be a pigthug, you sign up to be the armed instrument of the state. If the state becomes incrementally tyrannical, you must become incrementally tyrannical. It's your job. Which is why I refuse and will NOT respect anyone making that choice for as long as citizens are being murdered by pigthugs. Let me be clear: I hate tyranny, and wish death to tyrants. Dont care what color uniform the agents of tyranny wear. Now, please return to your holding hands with a "diverse" group while singing cumbaya and thanking the local PD for tyrannizing your fellow citizens. Your world, if it continues on its present trajectory, is going to get . . . interesting. May you live in interesting times.
We used to be one Nation under God. Now we are multiple factions without a soul.
One Gulag under the Devil.

Let's put de Blasio in a cage with 1,000 cops.... give him an AK-47 and give the cops pen knives.
Fight to the death.
Pay-per-view.
Who's with me....??
Problem with that may be.. de Blasio.. isn't a killer has a higher calling than going out everyday to.. say sorry I didn't make the law but ha ha you better respect my or I will shoot you..
So the killers would win. If you think killing black people make you a hero.
Social mood has turned negative. Bad things happen when everyone is in a bad mood...

Guess what, caesar? When the praetorians hate you, your ass is gonna be in the sling, right quick.
Something about history, circles, et al.
Why is it that we never hear about how corrupt the police are or how abusive they are in the city of Shitcago? That town is nothing but corrupt and we know that it happens seven ways til Sunday and still nothing.
Not all cops are bad. It's the system that governs them that sets the tone. And just like every other job or area in life there are roughly 12-20% scumbag criminals in our lives.
For those of you who bitch about the police and how corrupt they are with their pensions and bloated unions, why don't you take that same anger and resentment, pick up a protest sign, march your happy ass to DC and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and protest the real problem.
That's where it begins, you might as well start there!
Are you going to call the fire dept to put out the RAPE!!!
because it's in the midwest. flyover country. gauche. poor cousin in art and culture and not part of the correct circles.
when cops turn on elite, I cannot complain, the enemy of my enemy is my friend..weakness in the support of the corrupt is to be expected..rabid dogs bite everyone..except pods and others here wanting rabid dogs to take orders and be good dogs..truth.
"How can it not know what it is?"
The police? What's to respect?
It is a difficult situation Sadly the USA is becoming more and more of a police state. The "Patriot" act is a war of terror by the US govt on its own citizens. All civil rights are revoked under it.
That the US citizens have totlerated this for so many years is evidence of the power of MSM (maime street mafia/media) to control the minds and opinions of the masses that so willingly accept survellience camera everywhere.
This has allowed militarization of police forces and mentalities.
The police officer slayings of citizens is wrong (and the police themselves should have voice their condemation of the killings).
In any case the us vs them is a not a good way to go and the wdiening of the divide makes it worse and worse.
falcon is wrong in saying that turning their backs is illegal. Their obligation to enforce leag laws has nothing to do with their right to protest.
That technology in your cop mobile is paid for by JPM via the tax-payer. If you lousy pigs turn on those bastards in CONgress i'll be right behind you, OK.
Honestly wondering here, but does everyone here (who hates cops) hate that there are laws on books that are required to be enforced, or do you hate cops because they're the once enforcing it?
And those who are talking about how cops are all pigs or corrupt or whatever, you quite literally have the same abject stupidity, or just plain ignorance, of people who hate any group of people because of some small, selectively applied stories, films, etc.
If anything, you should hate legislators who make the laws that you apparently hate, or hate society in general for becoming a place lacking in civility or morals that REQUIRE police officers to pretty much approach every person and situation in the manner that they do.
Thanks for telling everyone whom they should hate.
A good man or woman tasked with enforcing a tyrannical law will refuse to do so. Further, they will refuse to participate in any further action that involves tyranny, even if that means quitting their .gov thugcop job and learning how to become a PRODUCER of economic value, rather than a CONSUMER of economic value.
We all know the judicial system has been systematically corrupted. It is rotten. So yes, there are more and more tyrannical 'laws' on the books every year.
Well, from your posting, I'm 100% sure you haven't actually thought through your actual views. Judging from the disdain it sounds like you have for the (gasp) "CONSUMERS" of economic value, I guess fire fighters also suck. I do have to ask, what, excactly, defines an economic producer and economic consumer to you? Are teachers and janitors economic consumers?
And what tyrannical laws should not be enforced? I'm just wondering at what point were law enforcement OK, and then become enforcers of tyrannical law? The 40s, 50s....70s...00's?
I'm assuming you haven't thought enough about what your actual opinion is to have exact answers here, so I'll take a non-reply as an admission of your own lack of answers. But yes, please continue to FIGHT THE MAN, and throw in buzz words about tyranny.
On the broad face, I agree with you. There ARE tyrannical laws on the books. And our nation of laws is OUT OF CONTROL in terms of how many are written every. single. year. However, your mindset on cops is the equivalent to an ignorant fool who hates white people because of what some did 300 years ago, or someone who hates black people because of what you see in rap videos. I'm assuming you're good at grouping thousands of millions of people into a single entity, and then hating them for what some portion have done. I'm pretty sure both Jesus and Ronald Reagan would both think you're an idiot.
Turning Liu's time into a political event.
Fine work, NYPD.
Thug cops are in dishonor of their oath, act with blatant brutallity, disrespecting of the rule of law and the very citizen they pledge to "protect".
Respect is earned, no given.
Don't talk to cops. Cops are scum!
Funny you should say that. I wonder if alot of us have already started.
I was a little bit surprised at myself after leaving the local party store last week. While buying a six of a very very nice double IPA at 50% off, I cruised on up to the counter and found one of my regular store guys having a love fest with a local cop who was parked against the counter. Talking about their wives. After setting the beer on the counter, I paused a couple beats and, when they didn't stop chatting, I just moved right in to telling the counter man the rest of my order.
No, I didn't follow the normal rules of civility in politely waiting for them to complete a thread and maybe even toss in a quip to earn the transition to my business.
No big deal, instinct is something I almost always trust. Got my cigs and beer and did the charge card while the cop watched.
Driving away, though, as I played it all back in my mind I realized I had seen a little flinch in the cop's leaning posture when I had cut in on his little social scene.
Sad, the cops think people are nice to them because they really like them. Me, I don't like them, given all they've come to mean at this all too crucial time in history, but still I was a little bit surprised I'd given him the freeze so instinctively.
Yeah, I think this is a good thing to do. They all deserve to know the truth they insist upon the rest of the time.
Psst... The mayor is not alone in his comtempt for the corruption infesting the "profession"...
It'd be great if they all got fired. That'd be interesting.
Also maybe they are all terrorists, how do I report people to the NSA again? What happened to that puplic service anouncement? Threat level red bitches.
... and devoted himself to helping others .....
a crazy psychopath!
normal person will not beat people every day, chase, pepper-spray people and extort from them money via parking tickets.
Will someone please tell Pat Lynch to shut up already? If Lynch was a politician, the press would call him a 'gaffe machine'. 'organic gesture', 'blood on the hands', wtf??? Man just can't open his mouth without sticking his foot in it. He's not helping the cause by hysterically shouting insults at politicians with spittle flying out of his face. Does he ever watch himself on the news? He comes off like Paulie Walnuts gone bananas. People he represents probably expect him to act like a grownup in public. It's embarrassing, their union need a change in leadership.
These cops need to lynch Lynch...do they really think they are winning friends here?
A smart guy would have understood the obvious problems his force was having with the public, and taken some small but important steps to fix that. Instead, he goes into full-attack mode.
This union and its leader are NOT the policeman's friend, and they're not winning the hearts and minds of the public either.
"The police have no respect for Us; why should we respect them?"
Do the words "protect and serve" have any meaning to these assholes?
How about the words "public servant"?
Or the single word "duty"?
"The citizens have no respect for us. Why should we respect them?"
So, one of the leading causes of fatalities among police officers in the line of duty is........ ?
Yup! their own stupidity in failing to buckle up while driving! I see them all the time and the lack of seatbelt is easy to spot from behind if you happen to pull up behind one at a red light. Of course it's difficult to get behind them on the road because they're usually speeding. Morons.
